Headed Into November.......Already!?!

Wow, I actually have time to sit down and blog for a few minutes.
With the football season over, I have had time to finally finish cleaning the basement.
The kids have cleaned their rooms, and the bathrooms, the main floor of the house is almost clean.
Now, to finish the knee high laundry pile and get it all put away.

The boys game against South Ogden went great!
They won 27-6.

Later in the week we scrimmaged against the other team we did not play against in the regular season.
Even though the final week of practice was the worst whether wise we have had all season, the kids worked hard to prepare for the October Fest games.

In the first game at October Fest we played a team from our pre-season that had mopped the floor with us!
We bet them 6-0.
The other team complimented us on the hard work the boys had put in, and agreed they weren't the same team they played in the pre-season.
The field was nice and muddy to start the day out!

In our second game that day we lost 7-6.
The boys were so upset, I think at the loss against Layton and at the loss of many great friendships made over the last ten weeks.
For a large part, they were all great friends.
 All thirty of them!

The Titan's had a Banquet the fallowing week.
A good chance to say good bye and give gifts and such.

"We are the Titan's" song one last time this season

I have really enjoyed the last few months.
I was just as sad as the coaches and kids at the end......
I will miss the kids!!

"Titan Football" Dylen's New Obsession

I never thought I'd see the day that Dylen became so dedicated to something.
When he told Scott and I last year, that he wanted to play tackle football, we didn't think he was strong enough for something like this.

So, to compromise with him last year, and because we missed the dead line for sign ups, we signed him up for flag football with the city. He, loved it!!!
We agreed that if he liked it that much we would sign him up for Titan football this year.

To prepare him for this season, he participated in wrestling over winter and then after school let out for the summer we signed him up for several football camps in the area. But, even with all this we didn't think he would be ready for what was headed his way.

Dylen is a sensitive child. He takes things hard and breaks down easily, even a small amount of criticism from an adult makes him tear up.....
The first week of practice he'd been sick, and we expected him to want to quit at any moment.

To our surprise, after being hit a few times during the first few weeks of practice, he pipped up, "That was so fun I can't wait to go back tomorrow and do it again!" We were shocked.

Over the weeks we have watched him become a stronger person, inside and out.

The coaches worked closely with our kids for the first two weeks and have found spots that fit their abilities and strengths. Dylen is our starting center.
With their help, Dylen is now also able to go up against his cousin and other boys that have been at this for over a year, and look likes he belongs out there with the other boys his age.

Dylen has even also bloomed socially.
He has made many new friends and is interacting with them wonderfully.

Discipline is being seen from him in every aspect of his life, because of his love for football.
He comes home, and starts his homework as soon as he walks in the door.
And getting him to do his chores is so much easier.
We took away most soda's and sweets until the season is over and he has yet to complain.

The last three games he has played on defense as linebacker.
He likes linebacker better than center though. His goal is to sack the quarterback he says!

Scott has been helping as an assistant defense coach.
Dylen and he have become so much closer it seems with this new interest.

Dylen seems to eat, sleep, and think football!!

His team is now 6-0. Being undefeated at this point.

We have a game next week against So. Ogden.
Hope all goes well.

I'm not sure what we will do after football is over for the season. Our whole family has done nothing but football for the last four months.
At least there is basketball, and baseball around the corner for him.

Good thing dance starts for Kaya and I this month!

Summer 2011

I can't belive summer is over already and that school is in session.
Where did summer go?!?

As you can see Kaya is riding her bike without training wheels.
It took a lot of convincing her that she already knew how.

Dylen spent half the summer at football training camps.
We wanted him to be prepared for this fall in tackle football.

They both got to spend time with fiends around the neighborhood.

Kaya competed in her fifth pageant this summer.
She took fourth, the lowest she's placed.
But she had an amazing time and didn't mind much that she didn't win.
This pageant still gave out trophy's and tiara's to all the participants.

They participated in the Riverdale Fourth of July celebration with the dance studio.
They threw candy to all their friends standing on the sides of the street during the parade.
And later they enjoyed fireworks up at the city park as well as at a friends up the street.

We also spent as much time as we could at Lagoon using the season passes we got for Christmas this past year. After the Fourth of July, Lagoona Beach got to busy to hang out at much. And so we have taken a break from that mess for a while until Frightmears opens up.

Playing Catch UP!!

Wow! I can't believe May will be over in a matter of day's.

We took the kids to the Riverdale Park for Easter.
They had fun, but we had some unfortunate experiences also.
Kaya was run over by an adult trying to help his child get as many eggs as posible.
Kinda ruined her day.

In Dylens section, kids knocked down the tape blocking of the area and started early.
Even the Easter Bunny turned out for the celebration.
They got their faces painted and played some games also.

And our dear little Kaya......This is her mess.
She dropped the toilet paper and it ran away,
when I told her to clean it up she shoved it all in the toilet.
I used it shortly after she did that, she had not flushed it down at that point so, I did.
Scott went to use it a few hours later and there was a hiccup and swoosh! Water Everywhere!

All over the floor and down into the basement ceiling!
As we started cleaning up we found two floors in the bathroom and what a mess that was.
It was old particle board, the heavy cardboard kind.
Water had previously gotten onto it before we bought the house.
So all around the toilet was higher then the rest of the room.
We had intended to finish the bathroom off at some point later this summer but, I guess thing have a way of changing your mind for you.

It only took us a few days to convince Kaya that she didn't need training wheels.
She was able to ride with out them at the end of last year,
but must of had some reservation about it at the beginning of this year.
So, we put them back on for a day and a half.

We took a bike ride down the the Riverdale parkway and her training wheels would not stay down half way to our destination.
She took a few minutes every time they came up to get off and kick them back into place.

She ended up riding all the way home with out any help from them.
By the next day I told her she didn't need them and if she wanted to ride her bike,
she could do it with out them or not at all.

After a fit or two
you can see she has chosen to ride without them.
And there is no slowing her down.
She is having to wear a helmet because she is trying tricks already on her bike.
Taking her feet of the pedals, closing her eyes and trying to jump up the curbs,
and riding as fast as her little legs can pedal.

We've had some major flooding in our area, and have only been able to use a small portion of the Riverdale Parkway this year.
Most of the lower area's of the trails are under water or washed out completely.

Baseball games have been canceled three times due to rain or standing water on the field.
Dylen got to play his first game yesterday.

Kaya, Dylen, and I had our Spring show Wed.
It went well though we had a change of venue and its was much smaller.
It was much more intimate then we have been used to in the past.
But, the high energy from the crowd was so worth it.

March (Where did it go?!?)

March has already come and gone.
It's almost time for baseball and the spring show.

Dylen and Scott are looking forward to the baseball season.
This will be the first year Scott has coached Dylen's team.
It will be fun to get to socialize with all of the parents again.
I miss getting to have more grown up conversations, once a week just isn't enough for me.
And I enjoy watching the kids play, and working to better themselves.
Most of them try so hard.

Kaya and I are getting ready for the spring show we do every year with the dance studio.
Kaya will be doing gymnastics, hula, tap and ballet, and her solo this year.
Wow! When did she get so big on me.

I got asked to do a number for a few of the girls I have danced with for years,
and we will be performing that and many others this year.
We are having a change of venue, Mount Fort wanted to much to rent out their facilities this year
and we will be renting out the small theater at Weber State, the Wild Cat Theater this year.
This will be very interesting for us, its going to be much smaller than we are used to (the stage and dressing rooms).

Scott and I have already started to make some small changes to the yard.
We look forward to this time every year, we have wanted to do so much to the yards over the years and there just never seems to be enough time or money to get it all done in one summer.
This year we hope to finish of the front yard and start on the sides.
Maybe even get to the back yard at some point.

I guess wish us luck in the next few months!!!
Cause if it ever stops rainning or snowing we will get started in a more agressive manor.
The Riverdale Park Way is flooded off and on through out, with all this wet weather and we haven't been able to bike the trails yet.
The river has flood a major portion of the area once already this year and it has been on a steady rise for the last few days.....here's to hoping it slows down.
And they say we are in the middle of  a drought and global warming. Ha!
I think the deserts of Utah just may turn tropical at this rate!
Good for the lush green scenery I love.
