Am I right or am I right!

Brynli's favorite new saying lately is "Am I right or am I RIGHT!" It is the cutest thing to hear her say it. She's not really looking for an answer, she's pretty confident in herself. You wouldn't tell her if she were wrong anyway, because you wouldn't want to crush her sweet little spirit.

The other day after she had exclaimed "Am I right or am I right" she continued with this: "Mom, do you know why I am always right, because I'm smart, when I was born you should have named me smart." I have to say that is pretty clever.

On a separate occasion I overheard her talking to her brother, "Derek did you get smart from me?" Now she thinks she is so smart that it overflows to her brothers.

And them one more example of my humble child. I was asking Sadie a simple question to see if she new what something was (I can't even remember what I was asking). Brynli piped up and gave the answer. I told Brynli "I know that you know, I wanted to see if Sadie knew", Brynli replied with "oh yeah, because I know everything". There it is at 4 years old my daughter knows it all. I thought I would have to wait until she was a teenager before she knew it all, but I guess I just have exceptionally bright children.

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter Weekend. It came a little early for me, but the weather was pretty good, and the kids didn't care that it was only March.

On Friday we decorated eggs at Grandma Mansfield's house. It was a lot of fun! Megan, Mike, & Chloe, and Megan & Mike were there. (No, I didn't mess up, we have two Megans & Mikes in our family, crazy). It is so fun to watch the kids. Sadie didn't quite know what to do, but she figured it out pretty quick. She would throw the eggs in the dye, take a quick taste of the vinegar, and then take them out. Needless to say her eggs were the least colorful. Derek on the other hand had the most colorful eggs. He was very patient and would leave his eggs in the dye until they were very bright and colorful. Brynli was able to decorate the most eggs. She had a pretty good production line. Kamryn just played with the eggs and thought that destroying them was as much fun as coloring them.

Saturday was the big Easter Egg Hunt at grandma's house. We kind of got a late start, but the kids loved it. There was plenty of eggs for everyone to find. I think the Easter Bunny could skip our house this year and we would be just fine. Derek cracked me up, because after the hunt when we came inside he went through his basket and organized everything into piles. That's my Derek. After the kids finished we had our Easter dinner because Alys was working on Sunday. This was a treat for the adults. Ham, butter square potatoes, rolls, fruit salad, cinnamon rolls, and ice cream dipped in chocolate for dessert. Yummy. We played a little guitar hero and then had to get the kids home to bed.

We had a wonderful day Sunday too. Church was awesome. The speakers were great and the spirit was really strong. Sadie went into nursery again this week so I was able to enjoy the lesson in relief society. It was also about Christ and his life and atonement. I am so very thankful to my Savior for the atonement. I really had the spirit of Easter. After church I wanted to take a picture of my kids all dressed up. Almost impossible. This is what we ended up with. Better than nothing I guess. We just spent the rest of the Sunday together as a family, playing catch, going for a walk, & a quick Easter lesson. What a wonderful day!

Sadie's Sweet tooth

The other day I came into the kitchen and found Sadie on top of the counter digging into our leftover cake. She is such a climber and gets into EVERYTHING! She also has a big sweet tooth. So leaving cake on the counter was just asking for trouble. I'm just glad she was focused on the cake and didn't see the sharp knives right behind her. She was pretty proud of herself.

While I'm posting pictures of Sadie getting into things, I also need to add the ones when Sadie and Teiken got into the fridge and found some fruit topping. They thought they had found a treasure. I didn't even know they could open the fridge before this. Well it's a good thing that she is so dang cute. It makes cleaning up her messes bearable. I better get off the computer and see what trouble she is into now.

naughty flowers

Today after church I was in the kitchen with Derek and Brynli. They started singing the primary song "In the Leafy Treetops". When they came to the second verse they sang, "In my pretty garden, the flowers are naughty". What is Holly teaching these kids? For any of you who don't know (because I wouldn't have if I wasn't in primary today) the song should go "In my pretty garden, the flowers are nodding". Anyway I got a chuckle out of it so I thought I would share.

Kamryn's Directing Debut

Kamryn's first attempt at directing a movie.
I smell an Oscar.

An Assignment

1. I want you to find a male lad between the ages of 23 and 24.
2. He cannot be a college graduate. In fact, he can possess only three years of formal schooling.
3. He must write a history of an ancient country (such as Tibet), covering a period from 600 BC to 421 AD.
4. Put the history into a book with 102 chapters—25 of them about war, 10 about history, 21 about prophecy, 32 about doctrines, 5 about missionaries, and 9 about the mission of Christ.
5. The lad must include in his writings the history of two distinct and separate nations, along with histories of different contemporary nations or groups of people.
6. His writings must describe the religious, economic, social and political cultures and institutions of these two nations.
7. He must weave into his history the gospel of Jesus Christ and the pattern for Christian living.
8. The lad’s history must be approximately 522 pages with over 500 words per page.
9. He must add 180 proper nouns to the English language; more than William Shakespeare who added 30.
10. When the lad has finished, he must announce that his “literary narrative” is not fiction, but true! It is actual history!
11. In fact, his heroic narrative must fulfill Bible prophecies—even in the exact manner in which they shall come forth, including to whom given.
12. Also, when the 23 year-old lad has finished, he must not make any changes in the text.
Not one. No editing allowed! The first edition must stand “forever more.”
13. After pauses for sleep and food, if dictating to a stenographer, he must never ask to have the last paragraph or sentence read back to him.
14. Another thing, the lad must not be allowed to research any of the subjects he’s writing upon.
15. One last thing—how long does he have to finish the project? –It must be completed within 80 Days!
You say, “…that’s an impossible assignment. It can’t be done.”
Yes, it can. –It was done.

I did it!

Let's see if I can do this all by myself. I am not very good with computers, and my husband is awesome with them. So instead of learning how to use them I just let him do things for me. When I wanted a blog I told him to set it up. When he hurt his fingers it was good motivation to get things up and running (he was really proud of his pictures). Up until now Wyatt has been the one who has been doing the blogging. I would really like to keep up with this so here goes. I thought we needed a few new pictures so that people won't get scared away from visiting our blog, thinking that we always have gross pictures. I thought Wyatt's fingers would look better, but the stitches are still pretty gross. Since today has been a cold, white day I thought I would find some pictures that show the fun part of winter. I know everyone is tired of it (except for Wyatt, but now that he can't snowmobile maybe he will welcome spring). My favorite part of winter is playing in the snow, or at least watching my children play and have a wonderful time. I don't really love the cleanup after snow activities but the fun usually makes it worth it. A cup of hot chocolate is also nice on a cold snowy day. And I love the beautiful snow after a fresh snow storm. (Now the snow is all dirty and ugly and I don't like it at all). We had a good winter this year, but now I,m ready for it to warm up. We're waiting...anytime now Spring!

Finger Follow-up

I made a visit to Dr. Young's today. He thought the fingers were healing nicely.
I could only count aprox. 25 stitches on the pinky and 15 on the ring finger (just what I could see) I was just glad that they looked like fingers again.
I thought I show a few pictures of what the press looked like. (In case anybody is interested)
