Somebody, stop me!

Acquiring furniture that I have no place for is becoming an obsession. Some people take in stray animals, me...stray furniture. Is there such thing as Furniture-Aholics Meetings? Either that or I need to enroll in re-upholstery classes.
I about fell over when I found the same exact wingback as the white one in my bedroom. Price: $15.00.

Then I found this one. I couldn't pass it up either.

Reminded me of this beauty featured on the Ethan Allen catalogue.

Mirror: $5.00. I feel a spray paint project coming on.

Bookends: $3.00.

I'm not sure what this is for but my mail seems to like sitting in it.

Real silver: $1.50.

That chair looks so much like the silhouette of the Ethan Allen chair.

BTW, is that last item a napkin holder? I love how you used it to hold mail.

Great Finds! If you start a support group I will join, the side of the garage where my car should go is usually filled with some sort of used furniture to re-do. Unfortunately I am running out of room in my House.
I love all your great finds though, so I say keep it coming.

This obsession has got to be in reaction to being raised in a very spartin home by someone who didn't care much about furniture...I see some real inner work here!

I have spent months looking for wing backs that I can slip cover, but I want 2 for under $50. You are lucky.

That floral one DOES look the one from Ethan Allen (which I actually just bought myself!). I can't wait to see what you do with it (and the plaid one, actually).

That's funny, I live in New England and recently purchased the exact same mirror at a consignment store. I spraypainted it silver and it looks fabulous. My next step is to turn the mirror into a chalkboard but I have it hanging up right now as a silver mirror.

Hi my name is meg and I too, am a thrifted furniture-aholic. My house is small, but I can't pass up an awesome dresser, table, mirror, etc. either! The addiction comes from the fix of satisfaction when you turn something ugly into something beautiful! LOVE the wingback chairs. L-O-V-E them.

Where did you learn to reupholster? I'm attempting, but if you have any good suggestions for books to get/youtube videos to watch, I am all over it. I really wish there was a class around here I could take. I'd love any suggestions! leggo_my_meg-o@juno.com

I have the same problem ... and was cut off by the hubs since our Craiglist Ugly Yellow Club Chair Incident of 2008 ;)

That doesn't mean I don't still have several unpainted mirrors and unhung paintings still laying around.

Since you are so AWESOME at finding/making things, do you know where to find this or how to make it yourself? http://bedzine.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/gfur000116.jpg

Please tell us all where you are shopping. Such fantastic finds - which will no doubt be unbelievable pieces when you do your magic!

Hello all you inquiring minds! Thank you for all your kind comments. It's fun to see other treasure hunters out there! The first wing chair I found at a garage sale. I couldn't believe she was willing to part with it for only $15.00. I hardly ever find such great deals at garage sales. All the other items I found at a local estate sale. Happy hunting!

I recently saw one of those silver things that you have holding your mail. It was at the goodwill and it said it was a silverware holder. I couldn't quite figure out how it was suppose to be used so I didn't buy it..but looked just like what you have.

OMG, I have the same sickness! Especially if they are chairs. Have one in the back of my van now; it's been there for over a week. I have no place to put it. Really want to slipcover it soon.
