Birthday box with bunny and flowers

Hello everybody,

We have to wait a while until spring arrives but with my project today I hope to already bring a bit of spring to you.
I made this box (you can see it's a box on the next picture) as a gift for my sister in law who will be celebrating her birthday in a few days. The adorable image has been created by Crissy Armstrong but is unfortunately no longer available. It was the perfect image though to use the lovely spring colors I was in the mood to work with.

In this flower cluster I used a cherry blossom flower, an open and a trellis rose and gorgeous tulips (you'll find the codes for the flowers below this post). The leaves that I used are part of the tulips, I cut them off and used them around the cluster.
And in my second flower cluster I used again a cherry blossom flower, open roses, hip rosebuds and a sweetheart blossom. The little white flowers were cut out with a die and have self adhesive pink rhinestones as centers.

Hope you enjoyed my box in spring colors and get inspired to maybe get out your spring colored flowers as well. Have a great day everybody!

Hugs,

A fairy card with purple and green

Hello everybody,

Today I'd like to show you this card that I created using Amanda S. Byron's Margaret Fae.
Isn't she just gorgeous? I decided pretty quick I wanted to use her with the Louvre Ornamental Frame that you see below this text but not quick enough because I had allready printed her to big to fit into the frame. So what I ended up doing was just cut her out with an oval die (and mat her on an oval with a scalloped border that I cut out of design paper) and then glue her on top of the frame. I love what the swirls add to the card.
Oh, and the cut out is white on both sides which I love.
A close up of Margaret Fae.

And a close up of the pretty flowers, leaves and rhinestones that I picked to go with the image that I had already colored.

Hope you like my new card and that you all have a fabulous day!
Hugs,

Shadowbox with a re-introduction

Hi everybody,

To start of this post, happy new year everybody!! May 2015 bring you all happiness and health each and every day! As you can see from the picture above this text I do have a project to show you but since we have some fabulous new ladies and a brilliant guy joining our team and they are all doing introductions we figured the "old" team could also do a re-introduction.
My name is Mariska van der Veer and I hope to be turning 40 this year. Together with my husband and best friend Marco I have three children, Dyanne (10), Amy (6) and Leon (4). We live in a small town in The Netherlands in the middle of a polder where greenhouses with gorgeous real flowers and goats are the view from our living room window. My hubby has a small company in the IT sector and I divide my time between the kids, the house and his company. For relaxation I love to run and craft. My craft projects take me hours and hours but I truly love the whole process of having an idea and making it come to life. Flowers are an essential part of my projects and I've been a big fan of Wild Orchid Crafts and their fabulous range of flowers for years so being part of the Wild Orchid Crafts team is heaven on earth for me!
This is the complete project I'd like to share with you today. The image that I used is called Dyanne and she is actually a Wee Stamps character that Sylvia Zet, the artist behind Wee Stamps, based on the pictures and stories I shared with her about my daughter Dyanne. Dyanne is my dreamy girl who loves to read books and craft and who, when we walk together through the Polder, will fall behind because she "needs" to gather all these pretty little flowers she finds along the way. I made this shadowbox for her with "her" stamp and of course a spray of pretty flowers.

Dyanne's favorite color is purple so that's the main color I focused on while I colored the image and picked out my papers, flowers and pretty rhinestones.

Well hope you like my project and get a chance to do some crafting of your own! As always I've listed the Wild Orchid products that I used below my post!

Hugs,

One last Christmas card

I know I know, Christmas is over already!! But I hope you don't mind me sharing one more Christmas card with you. I promise it'll be my last one of this year (an easy promise since it's December 31st).
The image on the card is Heart by Alicia's Cute Shop. Maybe not your first thought for a Christmas card but I think she works perfectly in traditional Christmas colors and I love her big eyes.
A close up of the image, as always colored with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced for extra dimension.
A close up of the pretty Wild Orchid Crafts embellishments :). I used a variety of different flowers but love how they look together. I only used a little bit of the Pearl Flourish (links to the products are all below this post) but love the look and this way one Flourish will decorate several projects.

This is my last post before the new year I want to wish all of you the most AMAZING 2015, make it the best year yet and stay safe if you are going to do fireworks please!!! You'll need those hands to craft!!

Big hugs!!!

Angel Maya Christmas card

Good morning everybody!

Christmas is almost here! Hope you are in to another Christmas card?
I made this card using Angel Maya with Star by Whiff of Joy. White, blue and gold were the colors I wanted to use, maybe not your first choice of Christmas colors but with the gorgeous little Angel I wanted the pure of the white and the blue and added the gold for the festive feel.
A close up of the image with a bit of pretty frantage around it, stitches by hand and pretty plantinum stickles.
And a close up of some of the embellishments. The Wild Orchid Crafts Trellis Roses are absolutely my favorite flowers, they'll make any card or project shine. And the berries from the Gold Christmas Berry Spray were the perfect festive touch to these gorgeous flowers.

I hope you have all your Christmas shopping and stuff done by now! I have one more post on the last day of the year so I'm not going to wish you guys a happy new year yet but I do wish all of you a very warm and loving Christmas, hope you all get to spend it with the people you hold closest to your hearts!

Hugs,

A Secret Santa card

Hello everbody!

Last month I entered a Secret Santa swap on a Facebook page. The idea is that you get a name and address to whom you send a card and some goodies if you want and somebody else gets your name and address and makes and sends something to you. This is the card I made for the person who's name I drew.
The image that I used is Jinkles the Elf by Make it Crafty.
A close up of Jinkles, as always colored with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced. I decided Jinkles needed bright red hair and so the embellishments had to have red as well. And since I thought the image was a bit bright with the bright red and the bright green I decided to go for white as well in the embellishments to "calm" the card a bit down.
A close up of the pretty flowers and berries that I used from Wild Orchid Crafts. With my card I enclosed a bag of Wild Orchid Crafts flowers and a bunch of the berries and pine cone, a girl can never have to much pretty WOC flowers right?

Hope you like my card and glad to say that after it finally arrived the person who received it liked it as well.

Hope you have a great day.

Hugs,

Christmas Lullaby

Hello Wild Orchid Craft fans

First, have you seen the announcement for the new DT members? Be sure to scroll down for that one! Today I'd like to show you a Christmas card with not your ordinary Christmas colours.
When I started coloring this image, Lullaby by Wee Stamps (available in rubber through Whimsy Stamps) I decided pretty quickly that I wanted to give her a fragile angelic effect. I decided that whitish/grey hair and a white rope were a must. The last thing that I colored was the scarf and when I colored that I decided that my flowers had to be white with just a touch of purple. On the papers that got lots of brown distress ink on them I thought that this way the flowers and the image would jump foreward.
A close up of the image, colored with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced.
And a close up of the gorgeous flowers that I picked with the image. I adore the sweetheart blossoms and the chandeliers popping out from behind the the white roses like they do.

Hope you have a great day and get time to do some crafting of your own!

Hugs,

A little purse with a Naughty Puppy

Hi everybody,

Today I'd like to show you a cute little purse that I made as a teacher gift a while back. The image that I used is one of the Naughty Puppies by Wee Stamps. The purse was made using a tutorial by Kristina that can be found HERE.

Since it's the purse isn't all that big I only used a few flowers on it and of course the golden crown pins by Wild Orchid Crafts.

I hope you like my little project. Have a great day everybody!

Hugs,

Bella with Wild Orchid Crafts roses

Good morning everybody,

Today I'd like to show you a card I made with a new image by Conie Fong for Sweet Pea Stamps, Bella with rose. Of course I added some extra flowers.

I first colored the bear and then the rose. I wanted to go for a very light purple and then after that decided that purple was going to be the main color of my card.

A close up of the gorgeous flowers that surround Bella. I used different tones of purple and a bit of white, the adorable little pearls are also by Wild Orchid Crafts. They come on a sheet with three colors that match the mixed purple flower sets perfectly.

I hope you like my card and get some time to craft yourself today! Have fun!

Hugs,

Paint with all the colors of the wind

Hello everybody,

Today I have an older project to show you that I hadn't shown on the Wild Orchid Crafts blog yet.
I decorated this cigar box with Wyanet by Wee Stamps as the main inspiration. I decided right away that I wanted to use feathers so I bought some of those at a local store that sells a lot for making real flower arrangements but of course I didn't want to use real flowers on my box as I wanted it to last so I used pretty Wild Orchid Flowers in stead. Since the feathers were brownish I decided to match that with Deep Red and white flowers. I thought the deep red was the perfect combination with the brownish tones of the feathers.
This is a side view of the box.

Hope you like my box and get inspired to do some crafting of your own!
Hugs,

A Christmas card with hexagons

Hi everybody,

Today I'd like to show you another Christmas card I made. I think this is the second time ever I used my hexagon dies but I wanted to try something new.
The base of the card is just kraft cardstock, with stitches by hand around the edges. I smeared a bit embossing ink on one side of an embossing folder and pressed that on two edges of the cardstock, sprinkled white embossing powder on and heat embossed that. I wanted to get this not perfect pattern.
The image that I used is the newly released Sarah by Wee Stamps (available as a rubber stamp through Whimsy Stamps). I colored her with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced her.
For the embellishments I used gorgeous red Trellis roses, a white open rose, pretty red hip rosebuds and one red Christmas berry spray with pine cones (you'll find links below). I still have berries and a cone left so what you see on this card is about 2/3rd of one spray.

I hope you like my new Christmas card. Not that much time until the Christmas cards need to be send of so hope you get some time to do some crafting of your own!

Hugs,

Snowflake dancer

Hello everybody,

Today I'd like to show you a card I did with a very simple color scheme. Since the image, Snowflake Dancer by Wee Stamps, for me demanded soft cool colors I decided to go for white with just a touch of blue.

As you can see I decided on all white flowers. I did try mixing blue and white flowers but for me that took away a bit of the calm character of this card which is what I wanted to achieve. The white flowers and pearls give the card something pure which I think is perfect with this image.
A close up of the precious image. Colored with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced.
And a close up of the gorgeous flowers, you'll find the links to these flowers and the pearls I used on this card below.

Hope you like my cool colored card. Have a great day everybody!

Hugs,

A pile of presents with berries, pine cones and holly leaves

Hi everybody,

A while back Wild Orchid Crafts introduced various gorgeous Christmas berry sprays and my favorite right away was the one with red Christmas Berries, pine cones and holly leaves. Today I'd like to share a card that I made with just one of these gorgeous sprays.
The image is by Lili of the Valley and is called Pile of Presents. The paper that I used are old ones by Basic Grey and I thought they matched the spray perfectly.
A close up of the image. I colored the image again to match the pretty spray and the gorgeous red open roses.
And a close up of the berries, leaves and pine cones. As I mentioned I only used one of these sprays, I even have some berries left. I thought I'd explain how I used the spray. I removed the tape with which the leaves, berries and pine cones are attached to each other, cut of a bit of the excess stamens and slipped the stamens under the image that I glued on the card base with thick 3D glue (the glue was of course still wet when I did this). With a little syringe I added a bit more glue underneath the pine cones and the berries but I'm pretty sure they would have stuck in place without that drop of glue ones the 3D glue had completely dried.

I hope you like my Christmas card and love these gorgeous sprays as much as I do. Have a great day everybody!

Hugs,
