A life she loved

I used Causal Lizzie to make this card, and the eyeglasses die from Impression Obsession. The wing tipped glasses were just begging for some bling so I dug out a bottom of gem from a nail art kit I found at Wal Mart. They're the perfect size!

Materials
Paper- Reunion: MME
Copics- YR14,16,18, YR 21,24,27, W03,05,07,09

I'd chomp

I'm sharing a card today that I think is pretty simple to make. Just print the image and colour image, mat, die cut pattern paper, adhere to card face and tie some twine. Done!! Don't you think this is great for a kid, especially a guy card. It's simple, not too frilly and it has an alligator on it.

Paper- Be. Loved: Fancy Pants

Today's the last day to get 40% off all our digi's!!

Fall Apart

You what I love best about digital stamps? The fact that I can re-size, erase and flip them without masking, stamp kissing or getting ink all over my fingers. :) I wanted to have a set of bears leaning on each other so I flipped the "Healing bear" digi and erased any bits I didn't want. I coloured them both brown and used a blending pen to lift some colour from the first one to make him a little lighter.
Materials
Digital stamp- Healing Bear: Whimsie Doodles
Copic Markers: Bears: E23,25 and E25,27 + a blender pen to lighten the bears.
BG11:background
R22,20: ears
Chalk: Blush on cheeks
White gel pen: Uni-Ball (best pen ever)
Paper- Be. Loved: Fancy Pants
Divine Twine-Bubblegum: Whisker Graphics

Don't forget the sale ends this Friday Jan. 24.

2 Cute to Spook

Happy Tuesday!! Melyssa here and I've got a little Halloween card to share with you. I kept it real simple. I printed and coloured the image (Little Witch) and simply used it as my card. A little shadow serves to "ground" the image then add a sentiment and your done.
You can find the digi Little Witch here. http://www.whimsiedoodles.com/whats-new.html

I used a white gel pen to make the polka dots, Copics to colour the image and chalk to blush the cheeks.

I'm Nuts!

The leaves are falling here, and all the squirrels are carrying things in their chubby little cheeks. This adorable new release, Nuts About You, is perfect for our fall weather! I love that this image can easily be suited for a masculine or feminine greeting!

The main image is printed on Georgia Pacific CS and then colored with Copics. I paper pieced the acorn and then used the same paper (Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg) for the sentiment. A little bling and ribbon, and my two nutty squirrels are ready for the mail!

Have you all seen the NEW and ADORABLE images released last Friday, October 5th? If you missed the release, you can see ALL the images HERE and purchase them at the Whimsie Doodles' Store!

Happy Haunting

Omgoodness do you know how hard it is too tuck away cards until you can show them?? Oh I can tell you it kills me!! LOL It's almost like getting a new craft toy. When I get it home I can spend hours trying to figure out what I want to make with. I have to make something immediately like it's going to disappear if I don't. It's the same when I finish a card, I"m just dying to show it to someone...anyone. I think it's so I have a "witness" that I've done something crafty today :) So here is my card. I hope you like it.
I used Lizzie Flying witch to make this card.
the clouds are from Memory Box
the moon is a 3" circle punch with a 2" circle punched out.

Frankie's Girl

I love Halloween! I think it comes from being an actress/director, and in the theater a lot. It's so fun to dress up! And I love making Halloween cards - especially when the images are so cute, like this one!
My card today is made using Frankie's Girl, one of the adorable Halloween images at Whimsie Doodles. Designer paper is from Basic Grey's Eerie Paper Pad.
I printed her out on X-Press Copic Blending Cardstock and then colored in using these Copics (incl. Clear Spica Glitter and BV29 and E33):
I added some glittery die cuts from K & Co. (candelabra and bat), rolled flowers in black, green, and purple felt, and some beautiful black and white ribbon.
The inside is decorated with a Martha Stewart web punch and more K & Co. glittery goodness:

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Stamps: Frankie's Girl (Whimsie Doodles)
Ink: Copic markers
Paper: Basic Black, Wild Wasabi, Marvelous Magenta (long retired!), Eerie Paper Pad (Basic Grey)
Accessories: floral gem (Hero Arts), Halloween die cuts (K & Co.), felt (Stamp School), September Ribbon Club black and white ribbon (Really Reasonable Ribbon), paper piercer

"no line" colouring technique for Digital stamps

There's a new technique out there that uses a very pale ink colour (Desert Sand by Memento) to stamp an image with and then make them pop with colour. I LOVE this technique, it gives the images a softer and whimsical look. Until now I have never tried it with digi stamps. Now that I have I'm completely hooked. I can't keep my Copics down....here are some samples of digi stamps I've coloured using the "no line" technique and my Copic markers.

So do you want to know how to print them? Here's what I did..
If you download Gimp.org (free software) then you can change the digi border.
Click >File
>Open (for your image of choice)
then:
>Colors
>Colorize
>then adjust the colors to approx. 349/97/95
(you can play around with the pink tone to your liking)

Once you have the color you want, be sure to hit
>File
>Export

Thanks to my friend Joni Wilson for sharing this.

Here's a tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers and how to create this look

I know it's been some time since you've heard from us here at Whimsie Doodles. We've taken a bit of a summer break this year. I just popped in to let you know I've put two new digi teens in the store. And if you want a chance to win them for free hop on over to our Facebook page and "like" the images. That will put your name in for a draw for a chance to win them. The drawing is this Friday Aug 3rd.

Let's celebrate with free digi's!

What a week! First there was Canada Day now it's on to Independence Day! To celebrate we designed two digi's to celebrate both occasions and the best part is that they are FREEEEEE! Stop by our freebie section to snag'em.

You'll notice that we won't be having a release day, in fact we won't be having a designated release day all summer. New digi's will be coming out, they just won't be released on a specific day, instead they'll be popping in randomly throughout the summer months. I have so many things going on right now with designing new stamp sets for There She Goes Clear Stamps to creating new digi's for Whimsie Doodles and now I'm designing wall murals for a Child Care Center. So this summer is going to be pretty busy for me. But don't worry because I will let you know when new digi's arrive in the store. :)

I have a new digi that was invented by my newest friend Reilly. He's the oldest son of my best friend and he told me of a digi that I just had to make, so I did and it's called "Reilly's Shark"
Here's a preview
Have a great day!

Release your inner artist

We all have that inner artist who loves to burst out and play when we sit down to craft! She loves to play with paper and make beautiful works of art. And don't get me started when she's at a craft store!! My husband has learned to just stand back and let me squeee down the aisles till I wear myself out. Today's cards feature our newest digi "Little Artist" and the design team have let their inner child out and had a lot of fun.
