Sweet!

I have finished the Leaf Motif Jacket from the Fall '09 VK & it's blocking. I really hate blocking rib - it never seems to be straight. I'm sure that it will look wonderful on a live model; I'll try to get a pic while I'm up Knitting Camp this weekend.

I've started a K1b scarf using Cascade 220 & Naturally Vero to use as a sample in my class this weekend.
I'm not normally a brown kinda gal but I'm really loving this look - I can't wait to get into the red in the Vero!! After this one I'm going to knit up a purple/purple, pink, green one!!

As a belated celebration of my SweetSpot pattern in Knitty I'm going to give away
3 skeins of Three Irish Girls Adorn to a lucky commenter. It's wonderful yarn and the colours are gorgeous - Sharon was very generous when she sent the yarn for the afghan so I'm going to spread the 3IG love around!!
Leave a comment to this post until 5pm on Friday, October 16 and you'll be in the draw!

Catching up

So Stitches Midwest was awesome - working at the Signature Needle Arts booth, seeing Elise again and the live debut of my Sweetspot afghans. They were very well received and I've been doing more swatching with more yarn. My last blog was from my iPod & for some reason it wouldn't let me type out an actual post.Cathy, Daniella & Laura were as awesome as ever and really made me feel at home in the booth. 5'5.5" has never felt tall to me until I looked at this picture.

I've got to give a shout-out to Mary - it was so nice to meet you Big Hug

I got a mug from Starbucks that people sign, then you bake in a low-temp oven and it's good to use & put in the dishwasher. It's filled in nicely!!

Work has been kicking my ass since school started up again. We've been scrambling to cover routes so I've been driving more days than not and with the new office set-up and phone system the 10-12 hour days that I've been putting in have been just keeping my head above the ocean of paper, but it's been seriously cutting into my knitting time and I'm starting to feel like a soulless automaton.
But I have finished putting together the squares for Luke's blanket for Cindy and I'm finally making good inroads on the Leaf Motif Jacket (#31) from the winter Vogue Knitting.

Kerwyn has had a few promising interviews and we've got our Fingers Crossed. The gods have been cruel enough for long enough I think.

Oh yeah - The Amazing Race starts up again tonight and yes, I'll be there watching it with you & blogging it. I don't have a favourite team yet, we'll see how the first leg goes.

I hit the big 40 on Friday and I don't feel older (well, not most days). I feel like I'm really starting to hit my stride and find my place in the universe.

Same old Face, New Look?

The Old:

Julie didn't notice any difference - she was certain that I had these frames all along.
It took Kerwyn a week to notice.
The New:

I thought that they were dramatically different and that everyone would notice!
Note to self: Don't have
picture taken after you've been rushing around the house. And get Amanda a stool to stand on - those upward angles are not flattering!

Here's the Donna Karan Shetland Lace Pullover that is in the
VK Anniversary issue. I knit this about 16 years ago and I've had to repair it frequently the last couple of years. The Rowan cotton has really stood the test of time (and the test of my not-so-gentle wearings & washings) but it can't last forever. I'll absolutely be knitting another one - I this sweater!!

And I'm doing the "Honda Run" tomorrow so I'll be hanging out at Alterknit for a few hours!! I know, but someone's got to do it.

Another Blogthing that has me totally pegged! Except for that 'vow of silence' bit. I mean, I could take a vow of silence but keeping it would be another thing!

Vogue Cover Sweaters

While they're not all going on my "to-do" list, they all have a certain appeal that made them cover sweaters. The best news? You can download all of them - for free!! Thanks VK - Happy Anniversary.
