If there's one thing better than one trailer for Enemy, it's two trailers for Enemy. With huge thanks to IHJ, here is a second trailer for Jake Gyllenhaal's next film, out (although not too widely) on 14 March.
It's mean a while since we've seen Jake with Maggie and Peter Sarsgaard but last Thursday all three attended a fundraising event for Pussy Riot and the Voice Project at the Spotted Pig restaurant in New York City. Maggie was one of the hosts. I'm very glad to see Jake and Peter were there, too.
Last week, of course, saw the terrible news of the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, just a couple of days after the announcement that he was to direct Jake and Amy Adams in Ezekiel Moss. Yesterday (7 February), Jake, Amy and Michelle Williams were among the mourners at the private funeral. Details here.

[Updated] Jake Gyllenhaal works off the Golden Globes Gold Dust Dessert and Michelle Williams in GQ
Never mind the winners of the Golden Globes, what about the Golden Globes Dessert? According to GossipCop it was a 'chocolate almond terrine, garnished with acacia honey, caramel and fresh berries, on a lemon hazelnut crunch base and finished with the edible gold.. “There is gold dust on there for the Golden Globes.”' Nothing quite like gold dust to add pounds to you, so not surprisingly Jake Gyllenhaal spent the day after the awards in the gym working it off.
Meanwhile, Michelle Williams, who may also have consumed gold dust on Sunday night, covers February's issue of GQ. There is a simply wonderful interview with Michelle inside, honest and extremely moving, and it includes mention of Heath Ledger. You can read it all here and I recommend you do.
Many thanks to IHJ for the new pictures! There are more there.
And talking of the Globes... Thanks to Mrs JG for the picture!

Jake Gyllenhaal introduces Michelle Williams at the Globes - who then wins Best Actress!
With no further ado, here is Jake Gyllenhaal introducing Michelle William's work in My Week with Marilyn at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills last night, for which, I'm delighted to say, Michelle did win Best Actress! Many congratulations to Michelle!
We owe IHJ a massive thank you for showing this to us so quickly! Thanks also to them for the pictures. And well done to those WDW readers on this side of the pond who managed to stay awake for it all!
On 14 January Jake met Busy Philipps and her family for breakfast at Square One in LA.
My review of War Horse is now up at MovieBrit.

Jake Gyllenhaal supports Michelle Williams as her film My Week with Marilyn premieres in NYC
Last night (9 October), Michelle Williams' new film - My Week with Marilyn - premiered at the New York Film Festival at the Lincoln Center. There to support Michelle, just as he did at the premiere of Blue Valentine last December, was her good friend, her daughter's godfather and Brokeback co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. They posed together at the cocktail party hosted by Grey Goose and Dior at the Hudson Hotel, with Michelle looking absolutely breathtaking in her Dior gown. Mind you, not that Jake looks shabby and with his new never-be-seen-without fashion accessory - the specs - he made sure that he could enjoy the film afterwards by being able to see it.
There are more pictures of the event at the Mail and at Socialitelife.
This seems like the perfect opportunity to repost that lovely picture from the Blue Valentine premiere, here via Just Jared.
The Marilyn in question in Michelle's new film is, of course, Marilyn Monroe. Take a look at the trailer below. As you can see it is also overflowing with English national treasures.

Matt Damon's appreciation for Jake Gyllenhaal's 'beautiful round head' and Vote For Jake!
Back in July we reflected on Jake Gyllenhaal's continued status as a trendsetter - this time setting the trend for bald heads, a look swiftly followed by Matt Damon (and almost attempted by The Pale One). Although there is a good chance that Jake's head will soon be getting its winter coat of hair, Matt has taken a moment to speak to People of his appreciation for Jake's head.
Incidentally, as we all know, Busy and Jake are both godparents to Matilda Ledger and I wouldn't want today to pass without wishing happy birthday to Matilda's beautiful mum, Michelle Williams.
Vote for Jake!
Jake is up for a SCREAM for Best Science Fiction Actor for his role in Source Code. So drop what you're doing and do just what director Duncan Jones tells you to do - Vote for Jake!
You know it makes sense.
Pictures from People and IHJ.
Plea to Jake: Please do not let this praise go to your head. Put away your shaver! As you can see from these photos, taken on 6 September as Jake leaves Nishimura Restaurant with Busy Philipps, the head does seem a little less bald. A good smile too."Wow, I try not to envy, but I have to say Jake's got a damn good-looking head," Damon, 40, told PEOPLE at Wednesday's New York premiere of his new movie about a killer virus, Contagion. "He sure does have a beautiful round head." "Normally you say, 'That's a beautiful head of hair, but that's a beautiful head he's got,' " Damon says laughing. "Gyllenhaal definitely gets the blue ribbon for the best bald head over me."

The morning after - The Oscar recap featuring Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Gwyneth Paltrow, Michelle Williams, Anne Hathway and a cast of thousands...
What a night. While I wait for the coffee to have some affect and contemplate where in the office might be the most suitable place for a discreet nap, there's time for a look at what was for me the highlight in a ceremony that went on for an extraordinary amount of time: the Jake Gyllenhaal Bit.

Jake and Amy Adams (a nominee herself and wearing an extremely long dress)presented the awards for Best Documentary Short Subject and Best Live Action Short Film. The latter went to Luke Matheny for 'God of Love'. He also got one of the biggest laughs of the night. "I should have gotten a haircut."

As for the important stuff - what Jake was wearing - we hear from JJ that 'Jake wore a black made-to-measure Salvatore Ferragamo tuxedo, with double breasted jacket and gros grain details, paired with a pair of black leather Tramezza lace-up shoes.'

As mentioned in last night's update, Jake was able to share a moment with nominee Michelle Williams as well as her partner for the evening Busy Philipps.

Jake was also photographed with another of his co-stars, Gwyneth Paltrow, who had some rather unsettling news for Jake... 'Gwyneth Paltrow, apparently a bit nervous about performing the Oscar-nominated song from "Country Strong," crossed paths with Jake Gyllenhaal, about 30 minutes before Sunday's show started. "Hey, I'm sitting right behind you," he said. "Oh good, I'll throw up on you then," she replied.'

At 5:07pm (still a long, long way to go): 'There's major mingling inside the theatre now. On one side, Colin Firth kisses Amy Adams on the cheek. In the centre, Hugh Jackman is shown to his front-row seat before bouncing away. On the other side, Jake Gyllenhaal greets Marisa Tomei and Hilary Swank. "We're sitting next to each other," Swank excitedly tell Gyllenhaal.' Lucky Hilary! There were some other familiar faces too.

As for the Oscars themselves, take a look here at the opening skit by James Franco an Anne Hathaway. It's a rusty version but well worth a look if you haven't seen it.
Many thanks to IHJ for these wonderful pictures - there are lots more there.

Duncan Jones talks about Source Code, Jake Gyllenhaal, Moon and Mute and reveals new UK release date for SC
What with all the excitement over the Golden Globes, there's not been much time to look at an in-depth interview that took place this month between Duncan Jones and We Got It Covered. In addition to some great detail about Duncan's acclaimed debut movie Moon and some thoughts on what will be next, Duncan tells us quite a bit about Source Code, the role that Jake Gyllenhaal played in getting Duncan on board and the movie made, and his experience of working with Jake. Generously, you can not only read the interview you can also download it.
This all coincides beautifully with Duncan's tweet (here via ManMadeMovies) yesterday that the US and the UK will share the same release date for Source Code - 1 April 2011.

Back to the interview and the beginnings of Source Code: 'I don’t think I would have wanted to have jumped into Source Code, which was a much bigger film than Moon, without having done a feature before it. Also, Jake wouldn’t have been interested in me in the first place. His interest in working with me was very much based on his appreciation of Moon.'
'In all honestly, I met up with Jake Gyllenhaal and it was to discuss another project, one of my own, that I’ve been trying to do for a long time, a film called Mute. So I met with Jake and he had seen Moon and he was a big fan and we just started talking about possibly working together. Jake was already attached to Source Code and would be doing it next and he was very keen on me directing it and he asked me if I’d be interested in collaborating with him and working with him on that. I think Jake’s a fantastic actor and I very much wanted to work with him. I read the script and I thought it was pretty good and wanted to get on board. I wanted to work with Jake.'

'In all honesty, I think they were already pretty far along with the project. Jake was already attached, they knew when they would be shooting the film. At one point I think there was another director attached but Jake was very complimentary about Moon and when I met with him he told me that he wanted me to direct. I came in there with my own take on things and I think I messed up a little bit of their planning since I obviously had my own spin on how things should be done. But it all worked out and I’m lucky that I had very talented people around me. But I came onto it fairly late in the day, in fact what is it now? It’s January now, I think mid-November of last year is when I first agreed to be on board with Source Code, so that’s pretty fast really.'

We've talked here about the possibility that Source Code may remind us of other time jumping films and Duncan addresses that, referring to Deja Vu and Vantage Point: 'You’re just gonna have to watch it. It’s not like those films. Ya there are similarities in plot devices but it’s so different to those films in my mind that I would just suggest the audience go see it because it’s not the same as those films... With Source Code, there are things we do in the story which take it in different directions, but ya there’s a few twists. I think it’s all fitting though, within the story and very much within the tone of this kind of story. It’s all good fun.'

Interestingly, Duncan does relate the film to Hitchcock: 'That’s funny, I’m not sure that there was anything that relates directly. There were some Hitchcock films we looked at and some more unexpected things but nothing specifically. We may have visually referenced some things but it would be more subconsciously nothing overt.'

Finally, working with Jake: 'I have to say, one of the things that really drew me in and made me want to work with Jake is, well, I had an amazing meeting with Sam Rockwell for Moon. We really clicked, as people, besides the work, we just got on really well. I had a similar thing with Jake. He’s a really funny and smart guy. After I read the script we started talking about it and about putting the humor back in. He’s got a great sense of humor and he’s very creative. He’s willing to throw himself into things and try new things. While shooting, having him and Michelle Monaghan, Vera, Jeffery, all working together and with Jake willing to try stuff and be goofy and do the unexpected, I think we had a really enjoyable set. All the actors were really enjoying themselves.'
This is a very special interview - many thanks to WGTC for doing such a thorough job and to Duncan for being so open. There is much, much to it, so do read it all at WGTC.

Videos
Many thanks to Monica for sending me a link to this Christmas message to Brazil from Jake and Anne, as well as some other stars.
There are some other videos from the Globes. I love the first below because Jake is his charming self and winds down the car window to wave to his fans.
And in the next, we can see Jake and Michelle Willams - and some other stars - ouside the Sunset Tower at the afterparty.
Out for coffee
As for Jake, yesterday (18 January) he was out for a coffee with none other than Marc Silverstein again. It's good to see Jake out and about with his friends.

Many thanks to IHJ for the pictures and scans.

Jake Gyllenhaal talks LAOD and primal, animalistic sex... ahem...
It's not everyday that we get an interview in which Jake Gyllenhaal casually talks about casual sex. So let's pause, take a moment and savour the thought... Here's the snippet, courtesy of the Press Association.

"I think casual sex some people are into, I definitely have been in my life at times," he admitted. Before hastily adding: "I think you find other things more important as time goes on... I feel people might be tired of the normal cliched typical movie and so we put our minds together and I think we raised the stakes... We decided it was going to be two characters that both really couldn't be intimate and so we both went to sex as a way of avoiding things." This meant some quite saucy scenes for the pair. "The movie does start off with the two of them sort of primal and animalistically having sex," Jake laughed.' I think I'll have to see the film again...

In the interview below (thank you, Mermon!), Jake and Anne Hathaway reflect that Annie's mother expected little else from a film that paired her daughter with that Jake.
Meanwhile, Anne and Jake have been talking a little more about their motivation on set. Apparently, Jake's habit of googling himself caused something of a delay... 'Annie did the movie because she wanted to be in bed with me and I can't blame her I was the 45th actor to be offered a role as no one wanted to get naked with Anne but I needed the work. I felt sorry for her,' Gyllenhaal teased. But she retaliated by joking that it was difficult working with him, because of his constant self-obsession. She told reporters: 'The thing is - working with Jake is hard because you have to wait for him to stop Googling himself for anything to be usable.'
I love Jake's expressions as he listens to some of Anne's classic and very funny Jake put downs. But, just in case of said self-googling, one feels like one should tidy up and dust off one's blog...

And finally...
Michelle Williams has been telling Angelino about how the day will come when she will sit down with her daughter Matilda to watch her father in Brokeback Mountain: '"I was just an actor who happened to be lucky enough to be in the right place, and it was the place where I met Matilda's father, and that is a lot," she said. "It was a lot. And it will be a lot for Matilda too, when she gets around to watching it. I will watch it with her, when she's ready. It is hard to imagine what that would feel like, but one day, yes, we will watch it together."'

That's quite a thought - imagining Heath's daughter watching her dad in a movie that has changed so many lives and also, in a very real way, created her own. How incredible is that?

Jake Gyllenhaal and Brokeback's ladies, Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams
If you happen to live in Britain and are an appreciator of a certain blue-eyed, intelligent and gorgeously funny actor with an awful lot of vowels in his surname, then you don't need me to tell you two things tonight: a) it's so foggy out there consider yourself fortunate if you don't walk into a wall or step on a cat and b) Love and Other Drugs is out tomorrow... FINALLY. To get you in the mood for your trip to the cinema tomorrow, here is a video in which Anne Hathaway says that getting naked with Jake Gyllenhaal left her feeling ..... [just fill in the dots].
Not quite the word I would have chosen. 'Eurphoric' and 'trying hard to stay professional' and 'flirty' may have been my words.
Source Code is next and in this video Jake compares this scifi movie to what he describes as one of his favourite movies, Groundhog Day. But different. Jake's not alone in hailing this as one of his favourite movies, it's certainly one of mine, and it's good to know that Jake enjoys it too. Jake is also asked here about whether there is a sequel planned for Prince of Persia.
Jake and Anne are not the only Brokeback actors nominated for Golden Globes - Michelle Williams has also been given a nod for Blue Valentine. Among those paying tribute to this fine actress in USA Today, is her friend and Brokeback co-star Jake: "People tend to box her into a vulnerable corner, but what's lurking underneath is severe strength and a sense of humor... There's a tendency in our business to emphasize the business or get caught up in hype. Michelle has never, ever done that. She genuinely prefers her life over her work, and as a result her work is better than almost any other actor out there."

[Updated] Jake Gyllenhaal hosts a screening of Michelle William's Blue Valentine in LA, chemistry, and Josh and Jake
Jake Gyllenhaal hosted a Los Angeles screening of Blue Valentine for Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling last night. This means a wonderful and very rare opportunity to see Jake and Michelle in a photograph together. It's great to know that Jake is contributing to the push for Blue Valentine and supporting Michelle.

It really is good to see Jake alongside Ryan Gosling, an actor for whom Jake has repeatedly stated his admiration. Source.

Another Brokeback co-star, Anne Hathaway, is on the cover of Gotham this month and she has some sensible words to say about Jake: '“If you don’t have chemistry with Jake Gyllenhaal, then there’s probably something wrong with you, because he is the most insanely charismatic man. All you have to do is listen to him and you’re instantly charmed.” As more evidence of this effortless chemistry, this post includes new stills from Love and Other Drugs.

We also have a scan (thanks BBMISwear!) from the new issue of EW which includes some feedback on the famous Jake and Anne cover. It makes for an excellent excuse to see them all again...

Comic Josh Gad has been talking about his Brokeback Mountain-ish relationship with Jake in this very funny interview. '"I think I was the obvious choice to play Jake Gyllenhaal's brother," jokes Gad. "When you look at the head shots side by side, it's not a very difficult decision for casting to make."'

'"The most important thing to me was getting that authenticity of that relationship with Jake," says Gad. "So, I would go over to his apartment, which made my hotel room seem like that rundown hotel that Josh Brolin is in in 'No Country for Old Men.' We would hang out almost too much, to the point where I was getting annoyed, where I was like, 'I really need a break from Jake Gyllenhaal.'"'

'But pray tell, what was it that ultimately peeved Gad, causing him to run back to his wife of two years for comfort? Was it the intensity of Gyllenhaal's impish grin? The thickness of his Muppet-quality eyebrows? Did he force his costar to sit through repeated viewings of "Prince of Persia"? Gad didn't say exactly. "It was becoming 'Brokeback Mountain'-ish," he laughs. "I love Jake to death, but too much Jake is not a good thing."'

It's now quite likely that as we speak, Jake and Anne are putting in some serious airmiles as they head down under for Monday's Sydney premiere. Maybe they can catch some cricket...

And finally - a WDW Interlude
I had a very busy day in London today (report to follow in a couple of weeks) but I managed to fit in a quick visit to the British Museum, one of my favourite places, and I thought I'd chuck in a few photos.

Includes pictures from links, Just Jared, IHJ, BBMISwear and WDW.
