Plot:

A U.S. Army satellite (Scoop VII) falls to earth near Piedmont, New Mexico. The recovery team experiences difficulties as it becomes clear that the satellite has performed its intended function all too well, and has brought back something from space. Synopsis:

La sonde spatiale "Scoop" de retour sur Terre vient de s'écraser près de Piedmont, une petite bourgade de 68 habitants au Nouveau Mexique. La sonde a ramené de l'espace un virus mortel qui semble avoir décimé la petite population de la ville transformant quasi instantanément le sang des victimes en poudre.

Le gouvernement réquisitionne et met en place une équipe de chercheurs et de scientifiques afin de rapidement trouver un remède au fléau avant que celui-ci ne se répande au-delà de la ville. Les quatre savants, les docteurs Jeremy Stone, Charles Dutton, Mark Hall et Ruth Leavitt font maintenant parti du projet "Wildfire"...

De quoi que ça parle:

Le « Ceres Crossroad » est un bar de bouseux de la ceinture d’astéroïdes. Les rednecks galactiques s’y retrouvent les samedi soirs pour vider des pils,
échanger des vannes et organiser des concours de danse. Mais ce soir la porte s’ouvre sur le scaphandre de Samuel Curtis, aventurier à rouflaquettes
venu troquer un chat contre une « fille véritable ». Il ignore que son ennemi juré, le professeur Hess, est dans un coin la salle. Et que tout le monde a encore oublié de lui souhaiter son anniversaire…

The American Astronaut est un western spatial & musical, écrit, réalisé, joué et mis en musique par McAbee and friends. Filmé dans un très beau noir et blanc et une grande ingénuité pour palier l’absence d’effets spéciaux (toiles peintes, ralentis d’apesanteur), il s’échafaude dans une esthétique bizarre, entre Amérique profonde, retrofuturisme, nostalgia fifties, expressionnisme allemand, pulp, dernière frontière, parodie du genre, opéra rock et blanquette de veau à l’ancienne.

Plot summary:
Space travel has become a dirty way of life dominated by derelicts, grease monkeys, thieves, and hard-boiled interplanetary traders such as Samuel Curtis, an astronaut from Earth who deals in a rare goods, living or otherwise. His mission begins with the unlikely delivery of a cat to a small outer-belt asteroid saloon where he meets his former dance partner, and renowned interplanetary fruit thief, the Blueberry Pirate. As payment for his delivery of the cat, Curtis receives a homemade cloning device already in the process of creating a creature most rare in this space quadrant... a Real Live Girl. At the suggestion of the Blueberry Pirate, Curtis takes the Real Live Girl to Jupiter where women have long been a mystery. There, he proposes a trade with the owner of Jupiter: the Real Live Girl clone for the Boy Who Actually Saw A Woman's Breast. (Rest of this incredible plot on IMDb info...)
