Wary Meyers at Colette Paris
We've been fans of Colette, a design/clothing/music concept shop since it opened in the 1997, so we're completely thrilled that they asked us to carry our soaps and candles. If you're in Paris, check them out! Karl Lagerfeld did! Turn around to your right Karl! ;-)

Poupette Print
Poupette print, 18"x24"
$45 in our shop
Big photo print of a the doll we found, made in France in the 1960's. After we started taking photos it was clear that we should offer the photo, enlarged to larger than life size in all her purple raffia hair splendor. Perfect for a little girl's room. It reminds of of the posters we used to have as kids- the actual photos of Sesame Street characters, or teddy bears, which you don't really see at all anymore. And of course it's not just for girls- this one is in our 3 year old son's room.
Measures 18" x 24", Printed with Epson archival inks on Epson heavyweight matte archival paper.

Bergen St., 2003
A few photos from our friend's Bergen St., Brooklyn apartment we did a little on-the-cheap decorating to back in 2003.
Top, gradient radiator: a can of orange and a can of yellow meet in the middle. (Radiators don't need to always be painted silver).
-The painting above the desk sort of mirrors what's going on on the radiator. It's from The Carousel Thrift Shop in Southport, Ct., one of our all time favorites. Old French paperbacks are always a nice prop, and leaning against a stretched Coke bottle makes them a little less pretentieux.
-We painted a black border inside the bedroom walls. Originally this was going to be done with fabric, a la David Hicks, but then I saw a photo of how that withstands time (not so well) and we chose glossy paint.
-We made a custom monogrammed mantle/fireplace to make it a little more homey. This was painted white, but you can see here that it was made from a variety of "street wood". The mirror was a perfect fit, and perfect patina, from an abandoned lot in Brooklyn.
-The door was painted with her apartment number, another idea from Terence Conran's The House Book.

Jackson Pollock (esque): off the floor and onto the wall
This is a Pollock-inspired painting we made a few years ago for a Past/Present project Design Sponge asked us to do. In our mind it was an updated "painted-floorcloth"- based not on a geometric pattern but on the paint-splattered floor of Jackson Pollock's studio. However, it proved to be too wild and off the mark, and we were nixed, but happily left with a pretty close copy of a Pollock to hang on our wall (as the paint flew and it looked more and more like "Lavender Mist" I thought it would be so much better on the wall.)
But as I haven't gotten around to screwing 1x2s together for a stretcher, it's time for somebody else to enjoy it.
House paint, car paint, enamel, latex, acrylic, and oil on canvas.
The canvas is 4'6" x 6', unstretched and unframed.
In the shop
(and Happy 101st Birthday Jackson Pollock!)

Everybody Hustle poster: new colors!
Inspirational poster derived from an old company motto hanging in a 1920's office. We thought it was so appropriate for these times that we redesigned it a little to hang in our own office. (It should hang in everybody's office!) This new version has a completely different, darker, vibrant colorway
$45, in our shop.

Wary Meyers Gonks!
Wary Meyers Gonks! A ragtag team of six fantastic creatures made to hang out in your child's (or inner child's) room.
"Gonks" originated during World War I Britain, when the flow of Teddy Bears from Germany was halted and materials were at a shortage. Ingenious mothers had to keep their children's spirits up so animals and creatures were sewn and glued together with whatever was on hand- fur, socks, buttons, felt, etc... They then continued to grow in popularity through the 60s & 70's as a charmingly simple and groovy creature.
In this spirit we've designed our Gonks as simple mounds of fur with appliqued features using materials we've collected over the years- felt, patent leather, metallic leather, vinyl, and pom-poms.

$45.00 each! ($50 for Commander Gonk, as the hat takes a little more time)
