it's been a long, long time...

I've accomplished a lot since my last post. I've ran a half marathon, turned 40, planted my garden, graduated (but not really, I have one class left), went to many baseball & softball practices and ran a whole lot of miles. I still have lots to do this summer. First I have to finish the yearbook (that's on the calendar for Monday), then comes the River Festival (love to eat and listen to great music). Throw in many games and lazy days and that's one exciting summer.
Dee and I are going to ride his bike to KC this weekend. I'm ready to shop and relax. My bike is finally charged and ready to go. Dee, I and the cousins are going on a cruise in July as long as the passports come in time.
In addition to reading 38 articles and writing 38 summarizes for my last class, I'm reading "To Kill a Mockingbird." Why we didn't read it at ol' EHS is beyond me! Today the kids and I are watching Mary Poppins. I remember when I was a kid, we used to listen to the record (yes, record) at Kevin and Cindy's house.
Later. Thanks for tuning into my wanderings......

a new challenge

OK, you have to read Dee's blog, especially you runners....

little bit of this, little bit of that

It's been so long...
I've been starting to doubt that I can really run the half in OKC. The 10k in Manhattan about did me in. Funny thing is that this morning I ran 6 miles and felt fine. Guess I just don't like the pressure of a race or the hills in Manhattan. Dee did find me some cool silver and purple Sauconys so I guess I better stay with it!!
We are enjoying the beautiful weather. This weekend we traveled to Manhattan then KC to spend some time with Darrel's family. Sunday we took the kids to Coco Key at the Sheridan for some waterpark fun. And they did have fun. I ran into one of my fellow teachers and even one of my former students (& friend), Kyle Meisner from cville. We had a good time catching up with each others' lives.
Today I take Kaylee to get her stitches out. See Dee's blog if you haven't heard that story.
I'm out....

day off

After 2 long days at parent-teacher conferences, I had a day off today. So I did the following: slept in, went to Target to help K get a present for her friend's bday party, ran 3 miles at the KWU rec., watched a couple soaps and ran to the mall to get D a v-day present. I had a real great idea, but didn't get it purchased from the internet so I had to go to plan B.
I was nice to have a day off. I had nothing pressing to do so I just took it easy!!

it's official..

1. I'm blessed. JD did a great job as Winthrop in the high school's production of "The Music Man." He put in so many hours of practice and was worth it in the end. He may just follow in the footsteps of cousin Andrew and Uncle Jason. So many friends including Mike (hard-hat kstate fan) and Sonya saw him perform. The church choir is recruiting him already. Kaylee has also been singing her heart out the last couple days so maybe she caught the bug also.
2. I'm blessed. Our good friends, Art and Shirley, came to stay with us this weekend so they could see the show. JD was 18 months old when we moved from the 'ville, so it was nice of them to come. Tom and Patti were going to come but Patti's gma past away on Saturday (she was 107). Guess we'll have to all get together sometime else.
3. I should be able to run the Oklahoma City half marathon. It's the weekend before my birthday and JD doesn't have a baseball tourney. I've been training and I'm up to seven miles. Double that and you have a half... we'll see how that goes.
4. I have a cold.....

ima mess

So is there something wrong with hemming pants with staples? I did that today at school. Maybe it could be a new trend--industrial chic. I look a mess because these pants are falling off me!!
Things are crazy here. I'm running lots now in preparation for the Shamrock Shuffle (5K), Manhattan's (10K--maybe) and OKC (half marathon).
Oh yeah did you know I turn 40 this May?
