What can we say?

Just wanted to post a few things here. No real connections, just what I would like everyone to hear and know.

1st thing: Little man is kicking butt. He has gained a pound and is looking really big already. He sleeps pretty dang good, and wakes up every 3 hours at night to eat and usually goes right back to sleep and stays pretty awake during the day. He usually has a few peaceful moments in the morning after Mom feeds him and then he is mauled the rest of the day by his sisters. They think that he is the best thing ever. We have a few more pictures of him and thus we will share.

He has even inspired Annie to potty train a little more diligently now that she is the big sister. She did good yesterday, and has put the big girl pants back on this morning, so we will see how well she holds up. She has been telling everyone that she does, or doesn't like their kisses. Last night putting her to bed, she didn't like mine. "Dad, I not like yoo kisses. I ony yike kisses from mom, and dwama, and Carrie and..." "Good night Annie." About 10 minutes later she is yelling for me. Normally they want some water, or some toy, or something, so I open the door "And dwammas kisses and moms kisses..." So I just shut the door.

Grandma Warner and Aunt Whitnee have been out to visit us this last week too, and we have really loved having them. The girls think it's the greatest thing ever. Whitnee and Hallie and I are going to a movie this afternoon, so that should be fun. I am thinking about taking them to "Quantum of Solace". My they came with us to a mass Thanksgiving we had over at Chris and Carries. My mom made deviled eggs and a KILLER banana cream pie. She has also promised me a big fat batch of potato salad, and if you never have had a bit of that salad... well, let's just say that heaven isn't too much further.

Today we are going to go tree hunting. We are going to a tree farm and gonna cut it down ourselves and everything. We will get some pictures of that fo' sho'. We also have a webcam now. Not really sure what to do with it, any of you with one that want to see our faces or something, we can now do that.

So now to my slightly soap-boxy portion of this post. I will now 'slpain the difference and similarities of M.D. schools, and D.O. schools. I have a few friends in M.D. schools, and so I can tell you what differences I have heard of and noticed for my self. All in all, I think they are about 95% exactly the same. We all take the same classes in the same order at roughly the same time in our quarters. We then take very similar tests to become licenced, we take one called the COMLEX and the M.D.'s take the USMLE. We then all go through the same residencies with the same requirements. Any of either group can specialize in any branch they want, or are qualified for. So the differences. My MD buddies tell me that they take a statistics class (well, one did in one school) and it seems they stress genetics a bit more than we do. They seem to be groomed for research with these two things, well, just a little bit more than us anyway. (I'm talkin' like 2 or three lectures difference in class content here roughly). The MAJOR difference is that they teach us some manipulative medicine (like chiropractic style stuff). We are not chiropractors. 60% of D.O.'s don't ever use their manipulative stuff once they get to residency. 90% only use it for family and friends. Learning to do this, we learn a whole bunch of physical examination skills that would take an M.D.'s skills out to lunch, on his dime. But really once we hit residency we are all about the same. The reason they teach us the back popping is because the founder of D.O. did it, and it really is useful in it's own way. They do not teach it as a replacement for any sort of clinically proven methods of treatment. It is often supplemental to the normal treatments, or to treat things that aren't worth throwing a whole bunch of drugs at. So there you go. *stepping down off of soap box*.

We will talk at you all later.

More Pictures...

Tyler took these pictures yesterday and I thought they were so cute. Barry is such a good baby and loves to stare at you. I was holding him in these pictures. This is my favorite thing about him. He always looks like he is just studying you and really try to figure things out. We are all doing well and adjusting to this wonderful new addition to our family. Thank you for all your love and support. We truly are blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.

On another note... HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my MOM!! Not only did she come out to help but she is letting us share her birthday with her. She has been such a great blessing to have her. Her and her magic touch are wonderful. We love you Mom and Grandma and are so thankful to have you in our lives.

Barry Douglas Warner

So here we are. Too much going on, but now there is a small lull before dinner, so i sit here with the little man ti tell you the tale.

HARD LABOR. It was hands down the worst delivery of the three. Bree started at about 8 in the morning with a pill that was to soften her cervix. She was about 13 minutes apart for the first couple of hours, then snapped to 3 minutes. She went from a 1-2 to a 6 in about 3 hours. Spirits were high and we were sure that within a few seconds we would be holding the little stud-muffin.

Instead things stopped and Bree went through 6 hours of intense labor fighting for every centimeter after that. She didn't get any real pain relief until about 9:00 that night. She slept for a minute then started the pushing after the 3 hours of very intense contractions.

About 11 the medicine wore off, and Barry was stuck. (see shoulders and head above for visual help as to why). Long and painful story short, Bree did the most amazing showing of strength, determination and stamina that I have ever witnessed. She endured the most pain and frustration that I have ever heard of, and came out a champion. (even with a 24 hour labor of Hallie and a natural childbirth with Annie). Nothing too much can be said for what she has done to get this little guy here.

As you can see he is adorable and pretty dang well loved. When his eyes are open he looks shockingly like my little brother Regan. I will post a comparative picture set later.

He was officially was born at 11:34 PM on the 12th. 7 lbs 15oz and 20 inches long.

Thank you all for your calls and texts and things. We feel surrounded by you even though you aren't super close. I did real well on my tests , and am selfishly asking you to keep praying for us through the next week as we are adjusting and taking finals and such.

Thank you all and we lo

Last Pregnancy Picture

Here it is as I promised! This is the last picture I hope to have taken of me while pregnant with Barry. We only have 5 days left until they induce me but I hope I come on my own. I am dilated to a 2 so lets hope cause the kid is so low that it hurts like crazy to walk, sit, stand, and even move! But my wonderful husband has been so good to me and gives me an awesome back rub every night ( I knew medical school would pay off sooner than later.) I guess to clarify that statement, in D.O. school they learn manipulative medicine which is a lot like Chiropractic work and Massage therapy in one. It is the most awesome thing to have the back rub and then to be able to have my back popped. I love it.
We will keep you updated as to when Barry makes his grand entrance but here is a funny conversation I had with Annie to leave you with:

M: Annie, what is your favorite thing to drink?
A: I like apple juice, and orange juice, and Heavenly Father loves me, and milk, and chocolate milk.
M: What is your favorite thing to do?
A: I like jumpin, and opening doors, and turning on lights, and colorin, and singin, and dancin.

Great reminder to enjoy the simple things in life and be happy!

Halloween

We had a wonderful Halloween this year. Hallie is old enough to really get excited about it and so made Annie way excited for it. On the 3oth we went to Hallie's preschool for a mini concert. They got to dress up and then sang us all the songs that they have learned so far in school. It was so cute to watch her up there with everyone. She really did great and was not shy. She always did what the teacher asked. Here she is dressed up as a butterfly, one of her many costumes this year!
Later that night we went to the Church for a trunk or treat and fun games. Of course, they didn't want to wear the costumes that we got for this year so we pulled out last years costumes. Hallie loves the monkey one and Annie insisted on being the chicken, even though it was 3 sizes to big for her. It was hilarious to watch her walk around in it because the big stomach rotated. I guess you had to see it to appreciate the funnyness of it. They had a ball at the games and loved the cupcake walk. Plus, any candy that they gave to Annie she hurried and put it in her mouth. I think she was afraid that we were going to take it from her!

On Halloween we had another trunk or treat at Tyler's school. Yes, they dressed up in yet another costume. Annie was snow white and Hallie was cinderella. We didn't get a picture of Hallie because she came later with her friend and then threw a fit the whole time because she didn't want to be there! So here you have Annie in the trunk of our van. She was a great helper with handing out candy. Hallie also decided later that this was the fun part about trunk or treating. But the best part for Hallie was that night going door to door. They still wore the princess' costumes and even wore the dress up shoes to go with it. They were troopers. And they did Awesome! By the end of the night Tyler was caring Hallie on his shoulders and Chris was caring Annie and me and Carrie had the buckets of candy. By the way, the buckets were so heavy that when you handed them to the girls they would fall forward. We had a great Halloween and we hope you all did too!

Oh, here is the picture of the beautiful blanket that my Mom made for Barry. I don't think this picture does it justice. I absolutely love it and can't wait to wrap my little guy up in it! Only 7 days til Grandma Comes!!!
