I popped out for a stroll a little earlier, a wonderful evening, warm but not too much so. The half moon had a haze around it and just for a few moments there was a remarkable sky....

SILVERY MOON....
Fabulous moon last night, just so bright and clear. I know I've posted moon pictures before but I just can't resist.. I though it actually made a better picture though when is was partially covered by cloud....

ANY THOUGHTS...
.... ok to save you wondering. Mrs W spotted this one last night, it's contrails from a high flying 'plane in front of the moon. What are the chances of the two lining up, very slim I would have said but there we are...

BLUE MOON...
.... the song became a hit in 1961 when The Marcels recorded it. Anyway, I'm no astronomer but why was the moon on show at 2.55pm one day last week, shouldn't it just come out at night? The sun rises and sets on a regular basis why is the moon different, is it in an elliptical orbit? Any thoughts or facts gratefully received.

A FULL MOON..
As I hoped, a great full moon last night plus a clear sky. I stood at the end of Elmcroft Avenue to takes these pictures soon after it had risen above the horizon. Always fascinating 'the sky at night'...

MAN IN THE MOON...
...not that he can be seen in this picture. There have been some fabulous 'moons' lately, I took this picture at the end of November. I believe tonight it's a full moon, hopefully there will be a clear sky and I'll get a chance of another picture.

Fabulous moon the other evening as I came out of the Gallery. It was bonfire night, November 5th, and the moon had just risen and was hovering over the houses in Grosvenor Road, not often it looks that perfect. I just couldn't make up my mind which picture to show you so here are all three, you can choose which one you like.

MOONLIGHT 2
Sorry that the blog has been a bit haphazard this week, September is going to be a very busy month and we have been preparing for it. Both the Wanstead Fringe and the Wanstead Art Trail start on the 6th of the month and if you click on our pages you can see we have lots going on.
Todays picture, you may think that you saw it a few days ago but this one is different. I was undecided when I took them which one to publish. As I looked through them again last night I really liked this one as well, I think its because the flowers are more prominent. You don't see a lot of flower pictures taken at night. Let me know which one you prefer.

MOONLIGHT..
A super moon last night I believe. It was great, so bright, unfortunately I didn't have lens to get just a close up of the moon. However I really like this picture of it nestled between the house and the trees, having the picket fence in the foreground was a bonus.

UP WITH THE LARK!
Up with the lark yesterday, actually up before the lark. Passing through the High Street on my way to Birmingham I saw this fab moon setting over Evergreen Field with the spire of Christ Church on the right. Although against time I just had to stop and take a picture.

FULL MOON I THINK...
A full moon last night I think, or possibly it's tonight. Anyway whichever night when I left the gallery the moon looked fantastic, some cloud cover but when that disappeared there was a clear sky. Looking along Eastway with the moon framed between the two trees who could resist taking a picture?

FLY ME TO THE MOON 2..
Here's a thing that always 'throws' me slightly. I get up, get dressed and leave the house. The sun's up, it's daylight but there's the moon. I just can't get my head around it. Note to self re New Years resolution 'I must take up astronomy'.

CRESCENT MOON..
As I was leaving the gallery the other evening there was a lovely moon in the sky. Although it was a crescent, not a full moon it was so clear. I hurried to photograph it before the cloud cover arrived. I don't know much about the night sky, but I think I managed to identify 'the plough' the other night, sort of North West of Wanstead? If you know about these things please drop me a line to let me know if I am looking in the right direction !
I went onto Nightingale Green to take this photograph, I wanted to include the bare branches of this tree. As you probably know 'the Green' is undergoing a major facelift and should look great in five or six months time.

STORMY, STORMY NIGHTS..
You must remember the thunder and lightening of last Monday night who could have missed it. I was in the garden around 10pm and I looked up and saw this cloud formation around the moon. It looked so dramatic and threatening I just had to take a picture. However, as for the actual thunder and lightening Mrs Wilkinson says I slept peacefully through the lot !

FLY ME TO THE MOON...
Very clear blue sky the other day, there were several aeroplane contrails in the sky. I took this picture at 3.55pm, the moon seemed to have come up very early, the moon times always seen more erratic than sunrise/sunset times so If anyone has any more information on this please let me know.
