IT Chapter 2 Booknook

Tonight I finished the booknook for my youngest daughter's Christmas gift. She wanted Horror! I don't like Horror! I had to watch this horror movie to find a scene I could nook. It was Horrible! I hate clowns!

This is the Hall of Mirrors scene from IT Chapter 2.

Shadar Logoth Booknook from Wheel of Time

In my last post I started this booknook of Shadar Logoth, the cursed and closed city featured in the first book and season of The Wheel of Time. The book is entitled "The Eye of the World" by Robert Jordan. The video series is on Prime, and the heroes enter Shadar Logoth in episode 2 of season 1. I generally like to do full build posts. Since I have already included the early stages in my previous post, I will start with the finished work, and then include the steps where I broke off in the previous post.

Now, this is where I left off in the last post where I had just finished and mounted the six characters with their horses.

Carving the facia moulding using a template I found on the internet.

The front is attached to the slide-in nook itself. when fully inserted, it closes the case.

The case, 5/8" plywood bottom and heavy condensed 1/4" paperboard sides, back, and top.

Painted with a textured stone spray paint. The picture is glued on and decoupaged with gloss ModPodge

Here are some screen shots from the show of the city and characters:

1/3000 Scale Isengard Diorama

The tower of Orthanc at 1/3000 scale is pretty small, just a bit over two inches. So I decided to build the entire Isengard compound, with flaming pits, timber towers and cranes of the uruk-hai.

The tiny tower of Orthanc on my template

The basic foam shape

The cavern cutouts

Vinyl plaster covering

Starting the enclosure. Wall sections are foam and bastions are fired cosclay

Making the bastions

Firing the bastions in my heat gun powered makeshift tea tin oven

Making the wooden towers

Adding an uprooted tree

The cranes are in place and the tree root craters are done

The foliage is complete

Finished shot with the wooden base

This was a fun build
