Make A Wish

How is everybody doing???  Michele here today sharing a CAS (some of you might not believe I could do it) card I made for my cousins birthday.

I stamped the unicorn (Item 19044 Plate 918) on watercolor paper and did some very light painting with my waterpen and Distress markers.  Instead of making the horn sparkly I decided to make the mane, tail and other hair sparkle with stickles.

Make a wish (Item 19040 Plate 918) is my all time favorite birthday sentiment!!  I use it ALL the time!!

A few sequins and viola!!  All paper is from my scrap bin :).

The detail on this stamp amazes me!

Thanks for stopping by!!!  See you next month.

Good words are worth much and cost little

Good words are worth much and cost little - George Herbert.

I love using words in my ATC's so today I would like to share a series having fun with words and Viva Las VegaStamps!!  This first ATC is called "dress for rain" using the ever lovely lady swimsuit back (isn't she gorgeous???) and the  small cloud stamp
This next ATC is called "hot stuff" and I used the vampire or kisser stamp, isn't it hot??
and last but not least I had fun with this ATC called "high fashion" using the barrel lady, quarter of bullseye/target , row of stars, brick background and the solid star in circle (yes, 5 stamps on this little bitty ATC!!!)
and here is a close up to show the embossing I did on the brick background and quarter bullseye/target:
I also love how the gold stars just pop on that inky background! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my projects and I would love to hear which of these 3 ATC's was your favorite!

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

Hello!  It's Mary here, with a simple altered book to share today.

I found a naked book in a bargain bin at a local big box shop, and I immediately knew it was just begging for a little VLVS! stampy love.

Here's a peek at the finished cover before I get into the 'how' and the 'to'.

I began by stamping the Boy In Cape, Whimsical Clouds and the Get Cape Wear Cape Fly sentiment image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

One of my favorite ways to get the most out of my stamps is to cut them apart.  The sentiment image was a single stamp, but after cutting it apart, I've got a trio of stamps ready to rock my projects!  No damage done and now I've tripled my stamping power.

Next, I've used an assortment of Copic markers to colorize my scene!  A few shades of yellow and a touch of pink lends itself to a lovely sunrise/sunset.  And as an AZ girl, I know sunsets.

Finally, I've dabbed on a smidge of glitter glue---well, maybe more than just a smidge!

And now, I've got a journal ready for my lists.  Because I'm a list maker.

It's what I do.

Now, go grab your favorite rubber goodness and get to stampin'!!

Mary

Guest Designer : Sheri Levitt

Today we have Sheri Levitt with us as a guest designer.

Hi everyone! Sheri here your Guest Designer today.

Today's project I made ATC's and a postcard. The background I did for them is nail polish. Yes I said Nail polish. Much like with nail polish marbling on your nails you can do it on paper.  to Very easy, very messy, and very smelly. So I suggest if you want to try this do it outside or open your windows.

You need water, something to put the water in. (a plastic cup if your doing something small like ATC's. For what I'm showing you today I used a round cake pan I got at Dollar Tree) cardstock, and of course nail polish. Don't run out and buy the $5 bottles for this go to the dollar store and pick up some. The ones I got were free samples from freebie sites. Oh and gloves if you don't want the polish to stick to your nails (trust me it will).
I poured the water into the cake pan. Then pour a bit of the nail polish in, like in the picture. You can see its floating at the top (though a little does sink down to the bottom.)

Then put a piece of cardstock that you cut to size of an ATC or Postcard and lay it down on top of the nail polish then pull up. If you're using a plastic cup, you dip the paper into the cup and then pull it up. The result you get is this. Pretty cool right!

So after all the pieces dried I glued them to empty cookie box for sturdiness. I edge the cards with black craft paint. I pulled out some VLVS! Stamps. To add more to the background I used black StazOn and stamped various stamps. The main images I stamped with Black Versafine inkpad on white cardstock. Colored the images with Color pencils. I attacked the images with foam tape. The sentiments I stamped on a scrap of watercolor paper that was on my desk with black Versafine ink pad. I cut the sentiments and glued them to the pieces.

To match

Hi Hermine here. This time I made a match box with a matching necklace.

step 1: Take a match box alteration die and cut out the shape out of cardstock. Spray the 2 pieces with water and sprinkle some Brusho. This is just one colour called Sandstone.
step 2: Stamp  Whimsical Cyclops 19407 with Stazobn  Black Colour the lips and make some white accents in the eye.
step 3: Mask off the face and stamp Writing Circles background 19567 over the rest of the outer  piece.
step 4: take a piece shrink plastic and stamp the Whimsical Cyclops and Whimsical Acorn 19405 with Stazon Black. Give some colour accents on the face. Cut both shapes out and make a hole at the top of each one. Shrink the 2 pieces. Take a piece of leftover shrink plastic, cut a rectangle and colour with Brusho. Punch holes on each sides, bent it and fasten it temporarely with a piece of wire and shrink it so it forms a loop. Take a metal ring and fasten the face onto the loop and treat the loop over a chain. Fasten the acorn with a metall ring to the necklace clasp.
step 5: put a piece of cotton ball into the box and put the necklace in.

And I am unanimous in that

Hello everyone,

I have made an art journal for you today and this is it : I wonder what they are talking about ? ...

The base is a Gelli Print. I cut it to size before adding some background stamping and inking the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.
I keep using this plate as it is so fabulous for art journaling. It is, of course, plate 1455. I will list all stamps I used at the bottom of this post. One of the stamps I used, I actually used VersaMark and white embossed it as I thought all black would be a bit ..... well, too black !
Next I stamped the Polaroid on white card stock and masked the bottom and right hand side of the frame. I then stamped the 'gossiping ladies' and the 'And I am unanimous in that' inside. I clear embossed it twice after colouring with my Copic Markers. It almost looks like a real photo now.
It was adhered on the page with glossy accents. I added some washi tape for more interest.

I used the following stamps :

19575 - Stitching (plate 1455)
19569 - Mesh Texture (plate 1455)

Thank you for stopping by today !

I'm Late... I'm LATE for March Madness!

Welcome to Viva Las Vegastamps! Susan here today to share a fun ATC that is perfect for the month of March... in Easter pastel colors complete with a racing rabbit!

I needed to make some ATCs for an Alice in Wonderland themed swap "Down the Rabbit Hole" and {of course), I had the perfect stamps in my VLVS! stash for them. It all started with a sheet of painted paper using a handful of Ranger Distress Paint: Antique Linen, Weathered Wood, Stormy Sky, Evergreen Bough and Picked Raspberry. I modified this T!m Holtz' marbeling technique in painting my background – I added all the colors in a splotchy fashion, and sprayed a lot of water onto the craft sheet to give a more subtle watercolor effect when paper is dragged.

When dry, I cut this down to make my ATC card blanks {3 1/2" x 2 1/2"}, then added a torn strip of  fun harlequin washi tape along the bottom of each and set to work on the stamping and layering of elements. It was interesting doing a horizontal card for a change. I saved a section of the background for stamping the sentiments.

One special stamping trick – combine stamp images by layering two stamps on top of each other. I did this with the girl and a keyhole - placing the keyhole over one of her eyes; then I fussy cut each keyhole out. This gives the perfect eye peering though the keyhole for this Alice in Wonderland themed ATC.

The sentiment I've had for ages and I thought it went perfectly for the quirky white rabbit whose always proclaiming, "I'm Late!" Everything is edged with coordinating chalk inks for an extra "POP" of color and adhered with miracle tape. These came together really quickly and they were fun to make!

Cotton Candy

Hey everyone I (Shanna) am SUPER excited I got some new goodies to play with and the first thing I thought of was using this fabulous stamp.

The stamp I used is called Cotton Candy - 19192. I got inspiration for the background based on fluffy cotton candy. I played with my new Prima Watercolor Pencils creating this "FLUFFY" background.

I have been wanting to use vellum on my cards for a while and I was given the tip to fold the edges over like a wrap. So I stamped the sentiment Until Further Notice - 19172 on the vellum and the scored flaps were glued behind the panel.

I used some foam dots to give a little dimension to the cotton candy and some glitter to really make the cotton candy shine.

Thanks so much for stopping by remember to keep coming back for more inspiration!

Celebrate Simplicity

Michele here today and I have a tag to share inspired by this month's inspiration challenge.

As soon as I saw the Sand Piper on this challenge board I HAD to have it!  It is so cute!!!  I just got the stamp in my last order and inked that baby up!!

I was inspired by the Sand Piper, of course, stripes, neutrals and the writing triangles.  After I created the stripes with masking tape and distress ink I created the 'water' with the mesh texture stamp and stamped the coffee ring stain for added interest.  On the side of the tag I used the writing triangles and writing circles background with archival ink.

Other items used:  Um Wow Studio leaf and flower confetti and sea birds mask, May Arts ribbon, distress paint and Cosmo Cricket sentiment stickers.

Distress paint + UWS confetti= perfection!!  The leaf confetti and flower confetti are just right for lilley pads and comlement my little sandpiper just right!!

Don't you just love the writing in the triangles and circles???!!!

You have until the end of the month to get linked up.  :)  I look forward to seeing what you create!

You are here

Hi there, Glenda here with an art journal page using a bunch of VLVS stamps as well as WOW embossing powder. Here is my art journal page using the showgirl with baton, you are here, line of chevrons, mason jar, waybill/invoice background, feather silhouette, row of stars, tape, solid star in circledouble coffee ring stains and another one I can't find at the moment (is it a bee or a fly, I'll let you decide!)
This is what my page looked like to start with as I love cleaning it off after using stamps, I hate to waste ink and great images!
Then I added paint, washi tape and embossed the feather onto the page using WOW pure gold embossing powder.  I also put the mason jar onto the page and cut out the inside so the words "you are here" would show through.
and because I often get lost in the process and forget to take pictures, that now leaves us at the close ups to see the embossing and stampy goodness
Love that silver embossing with the waybill/invoice background!!

I hope you enjoyed my journal page and thanks for stopping by!

Time Flies.

Hello!  Mary here with a little inspiration for the March Challenge.  If you haven't seen the inspiration board yet, here's a peek...

And here's my take...

To create my stripes, I've masked off and repeatedly stamped the Toy Airplane image in StazeOn ink and then used a flat paintbrush to add my green ink.  I'm not a fan of actual birds, but I figured this airplane fits the bill!

A few ink splats came next, and then torn tissue tape and a bit of machine stitching.

I finished off my card with the stamped Time Flies sentiment that I've stitched down and a few hand cut gold triangles for a pop of sparkle.

So, with this card, I've covered green, white, stripes, music notes, black, writing, birds, splatters, tape and triangles!

Have you played along yet?

I hope I've inspired you to grab your favorite VLVS! rubber and get your stamp on!!

xx Mary

Another CAS card

Hi Hermine here, I made another CAS card but Clean: CHECK, Simple: UNCHECK, absolutely NOT. I saw this somewhere on the internet, just a picture not a describtion, so I tried it myself by using colouring pencils. I really love the look, even though it was a challenge to achieve this effect, but I really like to challenge myself.

step 1: Stamp with Memento Cantaloupe the  Fris CharmairisLatifolia 18733 on a smaller piece of beautiful paper. Then start to colour it in with Colouring pencils and a paperstump with white spirit. It sounds easy but it is not, it took me hours to get to the point I wanted to, It helps when you leave it for a while, have a cup of coffee or something like that, and then come back to it, keep it at least an arm length away and decide if it needs more colour or shades.

step 2: When you are happy with the coloured image you take the text stamp You Colour my World 19344 and stamp with Stazon Black.

step 3: Glue the piece of paper on a larger double card with miracle tape.

Warmly Hermine
