Roses and Rocks.

Hello, Mary here :-)   I thought it fitting, with all the fabulous January birthdays out there, that I bring you a little stamped jewelry/card combo---perfect for gifting on birthdays or any days!

This card was super simple.  I just stamped the lovely Rose image onto watercolor paper and dropped a bit of Lindy's Stamp Gang spray mist onto it to add some color.  I then layered vellum and some Gauche Alchemy ephemera under the image and it was ready to stick down.

The base of my card is rockin' more of the Cross Stitch (my FAVE!!) stamping to add a little texture to my background.  A splatter of glitter and a pretty ribbon embellishment later, and my card was ready for givin'!

This necklace is another of my stamped paper clay creations and I absolutely LOVE how rustic it looks.  I just free-formed a heart from a small portion of paper clay and stamped into it with one of the super versatile cloud images from Plate 910A.  I think it adds prettiest swirly pattern, and you'd never know it was a cloud stamp!  Just a bit more Lindy's spray mist and some hardware finishes the piece.  Together, I think this combo makes for one HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Thanks so much for joining me today, and I'll see ya next time!!

xx Mary

The End Is Near

Hello again! It's me Tera here with another fun project. This time I am sharing a Small keep sake box I made for youngest brother. We just helped him move into his dorm a few weeks ago.
For this box I've created a distressed Apocalypse style box!
Fitting for a boys Dorm room Don't you think!?!

To start I painted all of the edges of the box black with the ranger acrylic paint dabber.

Next I cut out some vintage book pages, for all of the edges I cut parts of pages without words. All of the  pieces were cut so that there would be a 1/8 inch boarder. Next I added some text.
  To start I stamped  Man In Gas Mask 2 1/2 x 3, next I stamped Apocalypse 3/4 x 2 1/2  on a scrap then layered it.

Next I stamped Radioactive 2 x 2 and Crime Scene Tape 1 x 4  on two of the sides

On the 3rd side I stamped Biohazard 2 x 2, I also stamped The End is Near 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 and layered it on the top.

For the finishing touches I added one of the UM Wow Studio Gear Mash  gears. I added some gold and silver mica pieces to symbolize his hunt for money in life!  I also added a grunge board #4 and splatted black dylusions spray ink.

(all images were stamped with Ranger Archival Pad #0 Jet Black)
Thank you all so much for stopping by! I hope you are all inspired!
Stay warm It's a snowy mess here!!

A glittery snowy scene card

Hello! Diana Fisher here with you today for my first blog post as a guest designer with Viva Las VegaStamps for the next three months. I am really excited to be working with the amazing team here, and am humbled to get to play with such proficient stamping and mixed media artists.

If you live in the northeastern part of the country like I do, winter is in full gear right now. You can plan on snowy-day cards and projects beginning as early as late November into late March, sometimes even mid-April if you get the right kind of ice storm.

So break out those stamps — they aren't just for Christmas! I used the Boy on Sleigh Silhouette stamp and the Xmas Silhouette Collage stamp.

Here is a little bit more about my process in a step-by-step guide for you:
1. Cut background paper into 4" wide x 11" high. Fold in half from the top down.
2. Lightly paint the card stock with watercolors. I used Reeves Water Colour Pan Set I got at Hobby Lobby.
3. While that dries, stamp onto separate card stock the boy and the tress. I use Bazzill Coconut for my stamping when I am not coloring the image in with Copics.
4. For the boy, I stamped using a mix of Soft Pool from Hero Arts and Coal Miner from Quick Quotes. For the tress, I used Field Greens from Hero Arts, Coal Miner from Quick Quotes and Aloe Vera from Tsukineko. I used a variety of similar shades to create depth and shadows in my stamping. I keep the edges darker and work inward with the lighter colors.
5. I also discovered a new love — the Gelly Roll Clear Glitter pen from Sakura. I used it on the edges of the sled blades and the boy's shoes as well as the edges of the trees to create a shimmery embossed look without using embossing powder.
6.  I put those aside to dry and then moved on to making the hills. I used templates from Kiwi Lane and cut the hills out of POW glitter paper from AC. I then used foam adhesive to pop the silver hill up off of the dark grey hill.
7. Now it was time to assemble. I used the Miracle Tape (1/8 inch) to mount all of the pieces on my card. It was perfect for putting glitter paper on water-colored paper and then again for putting my stamped images on glitter and water colors. Some adhesives don't work so well on slightly damped or rough surfaces and the Miracle Tape worked really well!

To finish it off, I added some sequins, sparkles and a sentiment tag I had in my stash.

Thanks for stopping by here today to see my wintery card using Viva Las VegaStamps! It's not too late to work on some wintery cards — which is always a great excuse to burst out the glitter!

Double door notebook

Hi))

I want to share with you my new little notebook.

Yesterday I received a parcel from DeeDee.
There were stamps and cute little bird flamingos!

All evening I looked stamps, not daring to do anything with them. Only segodyan evening, almost night, I made this little double door notebook.

The stamp on the cover  (Whimsical Diver) is very self-sufficient - it creates a mood!

Last time I like to do things as if someone had carried in his pocket a month or two ...

This stamp was too clear and detailed, so I had to try to give it a bit of vintage.

To start, I took the black distress ink, then I made the hot embosing using transparent powder. I think the result was just my desired effect!

Notebook is made very simple and unpretentious, but for some reason he is very cute to me))

Thank you all so much for joining me at this post))

Aliens and Organizers.

Hello :-)  It's Mary joining you today to share a little VLVS 'stampin' love' in the form of a brand new organizer---ready to help me stay on track this year!!

It all started with an old book cover...

The aged look of this cover was far too pretty to cover completely, so I chose to use only a single focal embellishment.

I created a freeform heart from paper clay and stamped into it with my all-time favorite stamp lately, Cross Stitch.  White paint and some Lindy's Stamp Gang spray mist gave some fabulously bright color,  while a bit of black paint brought out the amazing texture the stamp left in the clay.

The inside cover was rockin' some amazing handwriting from the original owner, so I opted to keep it simple with more misting and a single image.

How amazing is the Alien Circle stamp??  I think it adds a bit of mystery a la Area 51!

The divider pages were collaged with ephemera from Gauche Alchemy and some patterned paper from the 'ol scrap bin with a thin coat of white paint to unify everything.  I've repeated the Alien Circle and Cross Stitch stamps using Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder and Staze-On black ink.  A bit more spray misting and she was finished!!

I absolutely adore mixing stamped stitching with the real deal!

I gotta say, I'm super happy with how it came out.  All that 'stampin'-stitchin'-painty' goodness is the perfect combo of function meets fab!

Ok guys, that's it for me.  Thanks so much for joining me today, and I'll see ya soon!!

xx Mary

Watercolor Stamping {A tag}

Hey folks! DeeDee here today to share with you the Demo Tag we did this month. Each month on the 1st Sunday from 1-3 pm I do a free demo make n take style @ The Crafting Place.

This month I chose to do a little bit of watercolor stamping!

We tend to start with a #8 tag base, in this case just some cream colored cardstock. It's been distressed with Ranger's Distress Ink in Walnut Stain, and Prima's Distress Tool. I inked up the Fris ChamairisLatifolia lot all with Ranger Distress Markers and spritzed it with a squirt bottle. Then, I just stamped it down like normal.

You can see the watercolor effect really well here. To finish off the tag I stretched across some Tim Holtz tissue tape, and a piece of Mica which has been stamped with Through The Looking Glass in StazOn ink which is meant for non porous surfaces like mica.

To keep the tape and mica in place, I punched a few staples into the tag.

And all the beautiful replicas! We used a few different flowers and ink colors, but they're all so glorious! The ribbon at the top is the beautiful Silk ribbon from May Arts -- all colored (it takes it so well!!) with the distress markers.

THE APOCALYPSE IS HERE!

Hello, Tera here. I'm so excited to be sharing my very first Design team project with you. My first DT project was actually inspired by Amy's piece HERE I love the idea of a piece that makes you think and creates a sense of mystery and wonder. I decided to use some of my favorite Viva Las VegaStamps! to create a post apocalyptic feel to my new altered book/Journal cover.

To make this I started by covering the book I wanted to alter with a vintage book page to create a fun background to work with (this was after I placed the Eyelets and wire wrapping). Next I stamped the Man In Gas Mask 2 1/2 x 3  on a separate book page and fussy cut it out so i could play with were to position it. I decided I wanted to add a little grunge to the book so I partial stamped Nautical Collage 3 x 6 1/4 on the bottom left then took a paper towel and immediately smudged the image out a bit. (I also stamped It on a piece of shrink plastic which I later added to the upper right to bring in symmetry to the piece.) The next layer was the fabulous Coffee Ring Stain 2 3/4 x 2 1/4. After the base stamps were placed I added a clock sticker, a lace Doily, a set of Tim Holtz wings and a fragment doll. I added some chain around the angel with a fabulous UMWOW Studio Gear Mash Gear with a tiny heart and golden chips inside. I also added gears above the clock the decide to add a clock key as well. Now that I had the cover built up I decided to add some detail to the spine, I made a fun label with some inked grunge board scraps I had, placed some Eyelets and used a word from the book pages (I adhered this with Miracle Tape, as well as the shrink plastic piece since this fabulous tape is super strong and clear). I decided the Apocalypse 3/4 x 2 1/2 stamp was the perfect word for the side and also stamped it on some scraps from the book page. The Finishing touches were the knob, chain and keys. As well as one of my favorite stamps the Pen Tips 2 3/4 x 2! I decided to only use one of them and stamped it on a piece of cardboard which I had colored with silver Inka Gold, I fussy cut the piece and bent the edges down to look like a real pen nib tip! :D I Hope you love this piece as much as I do. I love the feel of vintage meets apocalypse, the good vs evil, and the pieces of lost history like the keys and pen tips.

All stamping was done with Ranger Archival Pad #0 Jet Black except the stamping on the shrink plastic which was done with StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad.

Happy Stamping Everyone, I hope you enjoy the mystery and sense of curiosity that this piece invokes!
-Tera

I took the ready diary and gave him a new cover. With horse :)

Cover has turned out very textured...and shiny - because I used pearl powder :)

Horse this is the transfer image, what I the little painted with acrylic paints. On the mane I added star stamp. I did transfer on the surface with cracks - I love this effect :)

And this is the back cover, where more visible the texture.

For everyone I have made a small step by step video.

Using stamps as scrapbook embellishments!

One thing I love about stamps is that they are so versatile! You can use them in ATC's, mixed media, art journaling, canvases and scrapbooking! Sometimes when I'm scrapping away I look at my layout and think that it's missing something but I don't have the store purchased embellishment or just the right thing to finish it off. That's where stamps come in! On this layout I used 4 different stamps as embellishments, can you spot them?
I used the Set of 2 hands pointing (and just used the one pointing to the right)
and the One way
and the Arrow

and last but not least the Censored stamp (love this one)
So the next time you are scrapping grab some stamps and have fun using them as embellishments!
