Rose Lemonade Cake | Lisa-Jane Johnson | No Cardstock

Hey there scrappers!  It's Lisa-Jane from Pretty My Page here with you today sharing my project for the "No Cardstock" challenge.

I have to confess that I created this layout way back in June / July but it fitted the brief perfectly.  At the time I was very limited with my supplies because I was just out of hospital after surgery on my Achilles and I couldn't access my craft room.  In a drug induced haze, I went a bit mad in the summer sales so I had two pizza boxes of supplies but no plain cardstock at all!

One of the collections I bought from Lottie Loves Paper was my first foray into Pink Fresh Studios with their Be You range.  I fell in love with the corals and pinks, especially in the bottom paper that I used here so I wanted to use a fairly big piece of that one to get the full benefit.  I loved the dark blue paper too but it's very strong so you don't need much and I thought they worked really well together.  I then added a couple of strips of contrasting papers across the join and a strip of plain coral washi.

The photo was quite dark so I printed it with a white border but I really wanted to use some of the tissue paper from the parcels for added texture and interest.  This meant I needed another piece between the two layers to contrast with the white.

Lastly I added a journalling spot, some stickers and puffy stickers from various Pink Fresh ranges and some of the lush matte finish enamel dots from the Pretty My Page shop.

It's not totally unusual for me not use any cardstock but I do prefer the more subtle papers (I drift towards B sides) so they can act a bit like plain cardstock for me sometimes too.

Are you a no-cardstock fan?  Or do you have to have lots of area without pattern?  Either way, we'd love to see!

With love and colour

But First Coffee / Jackie Ashton / Tic Tat Toe

Hi Crafters, Jackie here with my take on this month Tic Tac Toe theme.

I went for the bottom row - Mixed Alphabets, Hidden Journalling & Pastel Colours.

But First Coffee ...

I started by distressing my white cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress inks in Cracked Pistachio using the packaging technique.

Over this I added stamped several different sizes circles over the top and added some wonky machine stitches, near a few of the circles.

The collection I used for this layout was Pink Fresh Studio - Simple & Sweet collection - its a lovely fresh collection with lots of pastel colours.

For my hidden journalling I die cut a tag from some of the patterned paper and added my journalling to the back, and tucked it behind the photographs.

The arrow paperclip helps to hold the tag in place as well as being decorative.

For my title I used a Bramble Fox perspextive and the cute coffee cups,

and added mini alphabets from Maggie Holmes - Gather Collection.

The puffy gold hearts are from Pink Fresh Studio - The Mix No. 1.

By using this months theme, it provides you with a great way to get started on your layout and perhaps mix things up the you wouldn't normally put together.

I hope you can join us on our Facebook group and show us how you have used this months theme on your layouts.

Happy Scrapping, till next time

Waste Not.... | 6x6 Paper | RamblingsofGeo

Waste Not...

Something different from me this month, a pink happy 12 x 12 layout as its my Birthday today! - woooo

I am very conscious of the amount of waste that we get from scrapbooking, and you will always find me grabbing things out the table bins at crops, yep, i said it, im a scrappy bin diver, and proud!

One mans junk, is another mans treasure!

For this layout, i used the branding strips in my 6x6 paper pads to layer up behind my photo to make a nice colourful background.

I have tried to completely finish a Pink Paislee 6x6 pad, the Fancy Free one. I have 11.5 pages left, and no unused branding strips. Wooo

It feel so good to use things up!

Please also check out the process video of this layout, if you give it a go please leave a comment and share on our facebook group.

Afternoon tea with a difference! | RamblingsofGeo | Monochrome

Hello everyone,

My name's Georgia, this is my first blog post as a Creative member for UKSA, I have a youtube channel called RamblingsofGeo which has Vlogs and scrappy related things on there. 😀

This month's focus is Monochrome, as you will have seen from the other Creative team members posts, its not necessarily black and white, and even less so with my layout, as it's very pink!

I have made a layout to show a day out at the London BB Bakery afternoon tea bus tour I went to for a friend's 30th birthday. I kept leaflets, a cake box, a leaflet/doily, all to use as part of my layout.

Full page

I used the Purple Cutesy Style Smashbook, and picked a random page near the back of the book that was cupcake themed (on the left hand page) The page I used was fairly blank, so i set about creating my layout on it as it went with the book's theming.

I used a variety of pink embellishments from my stash, above you can see a faux suede bow from the Amy Tangerine Hustle & Heart collection and the pink coffee cup with gold inlay which was also from the same collection.

I decided to use instax mini photos which i printed off on my Instax share SP-2 printer for my layout. They work quite well for a Smash book, and the Smashbook Mini's as it allows you plenty of room for other memorabilia like leaflets, and tickets.

The background is made up from a cake box that we were given with our left overs, it was nice and clean which meant I was able to cut it up and stick it in to add some bright pink to the page. I then used a doily, and part of the pink napkin to give it some texture behind the cake photo.

I hope you enjoyed my very pink Smashbook layout for the Monochrome theme this month.

Don't forget to check out my process video on the UK Scrap Addicts channel, (Click here) and keep an eye out for more Monochrome themed layouts for the rest of May!

Embrace Today / Sketch / Jackie Ashton

Hi scrappers, Jackie here with this month theme - a sketch by PageMaps.  I find using a sketch a great starting point, especially when my mojo goes for a wonder.  They are a great way to get myself going again, either by following the sketch exactly or by starting with a few of the basic elements on the sketch design and going from there.

Heres my take on the sketch, I’ve followed the sketch as closely as possible.

The paper ranges I’ve used are a few old collections from Studio Calico and Echo Park which were dated 2013, obviously needed to be used, along with some a recent collection from Pink Fresh Studios - Boys Forte.

For the title I’ve used a Acrylic words from Bella Blvd, which I have had in my stash for a while.

And here are a few close ups

Hope you have enjoyed seeing the different way the design team have used this sketch this month, and how versatile sketches can be.

Till next month
