Catching Clear Up

Wooohooo!

WE ARE BACK!

(Gotta admit ... we're just a little peeved with OurMoma
Seems our extended wee absence has resulted in a Fall
into some sort of Forgotten Neglected Dismissed Devalued PoorDogStatus

AND IT'S THROUGH NO FAULT OF OUR OWN!)

Anyway
We left off (trying to catch up)
With a Hint of a MinorMishap

Truth be Told
Fergi and Zoë are still BFF

Despite the fact that Fergi's SnaggleTeeth made VeryBrief but VeryImpressiveContact
with Zoë's DelicateSkin

Ripped her right open, she did, my sister, the Fergs
The quiet, shy, sorta submissive one

It seems that Fergi is beginning to feel more a part of ThePack
(Having four of us in one household these past few months)
and
A SixteenLeggedBeforeBreakfastRomp
... around and around and around the dining room table ...
led to a WidelySmilingMouth which "brushed against" a WhiteWhippet'sShoulder

Oops

It happened so fast no one really even knew what happened

but

All is well now
TheIncision is now the TheBattleWound (or BooBoo)
All stitched and healed up
(Thanks to the DashingDrBatch ... who gave OurMoma a GreatBigHug
as she tearfully explained what happened)

(Oh, the Drama)

Anyhow ... it's History ... and both girls have a Story to tell

Otherwise
We were sorta laidback clear through September in Colorado

All of Us

Enjoying the AmazingAutumn and sharing it with OurFloridaFamily

(It doesn't get much prettier)

Toward the end of the month
We all took a SeveralDayTrip to do nothing but take in the Beauty (and the Beasts)

We found a bit of France in Colorado
(Camp St Malo ... Pope John Paul II stayed here during his 1993 World Youth Day trip to Denver)

Honestly, we were "just" the passengers
but
We happily joined OurPeople on their Trek

Shortly into the Trip
We ambled by OurMoma's MostFavoriteRestaurant
The FawnBrook Inn (in Allenspark, Colorado)

(We're hoping that one day she'll dine there and bring us a few tasty samples
... the sooner, the better)

It was closed the day we were there
but across the road
Was something nearly equally as exciting
A "tap" from the Crystal River which was flowing under our paws
Where ThePeople stopped and filled up all our water jugs
with FreshColdMountainSpringWater

Look See!

OurGirl (who tasted the water later ... she wasn't with us at the time)
Aptly described it as we would if we could talk
"It tastes like melted snow!"

We drove on that same day and pulled up to OurLittleCabin near Estes Park

A VeryDogFriendly little place where I was a LuckyDog to have visited once before

It didn't take long for me to find all the windows
(Gazing out is one of MyMostFavoritePasttimes)
I could sniff that FreshMountainAir

Our cabin had a NorthwoodsTheme
Decorated with lots of LittleBears

Aptly named ... 'cause look who was there to greet us

Yep!
Our very own BlackBearCub!

He was hovering above the (tightly closed) GarbageBin
(Wistfully hoping it might magically open)
Only about 40 feet from OurPorch

(Fergi was actually the first one to notice .... she yipped and barked
While waiting in the car
When OurMoma left us ... still buckled in ... as she and the others unpacked.

Lo and Behold
We all soon understood the Reason for her Anxiety!)

(The Bears ... all of 'em ... the BigMoma and her TwoWayTooOld to StillBeWithMoma Cubs
Came back early one morning.
We heard 'em and saw 'em
Thrashing about in the tree
but
We knew better than to join them

Instead we stayed comfortably resting on the bed

It was Good
Really Good

While there
OurGirl even came from HerCollege to visit

Of course she was happy to see us
but
also
She was thrilled to open a package from Gussie's Moma

Seems they have somethings in common
Muzzer and OurGirl

TeenyFeet and a PassionForShoes
(We could smell ya, Gus and Teka!)
OurGirl smiled a lot and said "Thanks!"

This place where we stayed
Has a nice private Playground for Dogs
and
For the first time for some of us
We got to play offleash

(Told ya it was DogFriendly!)

Bella and HerMoma (our Gramma) played their VeryFirstGame of Frisbee

and

Fergs (SweetGirl) played BabyDuck following HerMoma
(if ya know Fergi ... this is HUGE HUGE progress
and it made OurMoma SoVeryHappy!)

It was a GoodTime
ReallyGood

Only a few short miles away was one of the Reasons for OurTrip

We'll let the Pictures tell the Story

It couldn't have been a MorePerfectFewDays
(OurPeople sure oo'd and aw'd and made lots of stops for UpClose and UninterruptedViewing)

We rode way up into the Heavens
(Eleven miles of which is above TreeLine ... breathtaking in lots of ways)

And
We saw lots of Wildlife
(REAL wildlife ... not the kind that run around dining room tables)

There were gobs of places to stop and gaze

but most often
We stayed in the car
(Pups aren't allowed off of paved surfaces ... but that was okay ... we were Content)

One day we rode through the BigThompsonCanyon
(That's the same road that OurGirl took to get from where she is to where we were)

If you are as old as OurMoma
(That's old)
You might remember a HugeFlood that rushed through this area back in 1976
(Way before us ... obviously ... before OurGirl, too)

It still gives OurMoma goosebumps, to remember
144 people died and the canyon was destroyed

If you are interested, you can learn more here (there are some good links)

You can even listen to a bone chilling video from a first-responder on that site.

Anyhow
Though the cherry orchards that used to lie near the BigThompsonRiver were wiped out by the flood
The Colorado Cherry Company still remains

Of course OurPeople went inside

and

Yep

We noticed (and drew to their attention) the "Free Samples" Sign

GoodDoggies that we were
(Waiting in the car and posing on the picnic table afterwards)

We were not to be disappointed

We pretty much "had it made"
(We've pretty much "got it made")

Life is Good
We were happy
(We ARE Happy)

(That cherry pie was YUMMY!)

Yep

So Now
We're back to it just bein' the Two of Us, with OurMoma, of course

The Family has returned to Florida
OurGirl is happily bein' a CollegeGirl

Things are Quiet
(Well, except for when we're running around the dining room table)

OurMoma is in some sort of state that she calls Transitioning
We're not quite sure that means

For now we just focus on transitioning from one sunny resting spot to another

Like I said
Life is Good

Catching Up ... Part One

Oh OurDogness
It's been a Dog'sAge

We're the first to admit it
We've been barking at OurMoma to do something about it.

Goin' and comin'
Comin' and goin'

But we're still Here
(Most of Us)

When we left off tellin' you about OurSummer
(SeveralFullMoons ago ... when it was still Summer)
We were busy spending OurTime
(and sharing OurHouse ... to be specific Fergi'sBigBed)
with Gramma and Bella
and
AuntieJudith and Zoë

It was Fun
We got to be GoodFriends
(and Fergs even started joining the Pack
... not wanting to miss out on any Pats or Scritchies ... or, most importantly ... Treats)

We managed to keep having Lots of Adventures
All of us Together
(No, Zoë did not get to take any of the WireyStuffies along)

In more than OneWay
We reached even GreaterHeights
(Than OurTrip up MountEvans ... click here if you missed that)

(The VeryNecessaryCeilingFan broke ... Wow that was a tall ladder)
(It's all fixed now ... OurMoma made it a HighPriority)

More importantly
(From OurPerspective)
Thanks to a new AnnualPass
(What took you so long, Moma?)
We got to enjoy lots of trips to a Foothills-to-Plains Transitional Park
Howling distance from OurHome

The Bear Creek comes down the Mountain
(Melted snow heading east)
Runs right past OurGirl's OnceWasElementarySchool
and goes right through our little town of Morrison

When we visited
(Which was pretty often)
Sometimes we got to get OurPaws wet

(in the gentler parts of the creek)

and

Sometimes we crossed over it and looked down

That BearCreek dumps into BearLake on the east end

and
OurMoma promised to take us back there lots of times
Seein' as how it's practically out our BackDoor

That's not All

The PostMan kept delivering stuff now that we are Home

and

A most enticing parcel arrived from the RoyalMail
From a Certain SquareDog and his MostKindSquareMom

Thanks to them
Now we're Stylin'
in CoordinatingCathKidstonNeckware
(That's me, Jake)

(That's my sister, Fergi)

Don'tcha agree?
Stunning, aren't we?!

Even the WheelessOnes were not to be left out
(Never!)
Dining, now, on a CommemorativeRoyalWeddingTeaTowel
(They may look tattered, but they have high standards.  Don't be fooled.)

Speaking of Dining
Cakes and Tea and Such

We celebrated our Gramma's 88th Birthday in September

We were the MostImportantChef'sAssistants and Snoopervisors

Assuring the production of the MostPerfect LittleBirthdayCakes

With a MostSpecialOne for Gramma

Of course we ALL got to partake!
(Did you expect anything less?)

We've learned
We know
No Party is complete without Pressies
and
of course
We (I) were (was) a HUGE help in the UnwrappingDepartment
(I taught Bella the NecessarySkills ... this was her first BirthdayCelebration
She learned all about Pressies really really fast)

You see
Gramma's birthday was also Bella's DesignatedSecondBirthday
Happy Birthday Bella!
(We love ya!)

So
You must be getting the idea:

It was all SmoothSailing
PeachyKeen
HunkyDorry
Ducky
Fine
NearlyBrilliant

... until ...

oops

How'd on Heaven'sEarth did THAT happen?

You're gonna have to come back to find out
and
That means OurMoma's gonna have to post again
To tell ya!

See you soon (we hope!)

Jake (and Fergs)
