Playing Catch Up

Boy Oh Boy

Dogness

We've traveled a lot of Blocks

Since we were here last

Started with a nice FoxTrot

Down the 16th Street Mall in Downtown Denver

for 

the Someteenth Annual Mall Crawl

A Gathering of Rescued and Adopted Wirey Ones

(like us)

We were warmly welcomed into the fancy Brown Palace

Where we impressed everyone with our PerfectBehavior

(no!  really!)

Here's the group

The VeryNextDay

We bundled up Winston and Charles

and left them to guard the House and Home

(Stocked with plenty of Warm Woolens, Tea and an UnderstandingNeighbor)

And

For the first time in the Winter

We loaded up into the LoveBug

Complete with Blankies and Stuffies

and OurGirl (of course)

We traveled for ThreeDays.  Yep.  We did.

Mostly sleeping

But occasionally watching out the Windows

Or convincing our people we deserved some yummy Travel Treats

(We have to admit ... it was an ExceptionallyGoodTrip)

Complete with Animal Planet

on Hotel flat screen TVs

Two nights in a row

Eventually we arrived

and in no time flat

We found the BigBed at Gramma's

Home away from Home

(and we were ... and are ... happy)

We're REALLY happy here

and

We're quickly realizing Christmas with Family

is a VeryGoodThing

There are Treats to sniff

Pressies to explore

and

Lessons to be Learned

(waiting ... waiting ... waiting ... patiently)

(Not always an easy thing for a terrier)

But from what we hear

There are Lots of GoodTimes in our NearFuture

Now if we can only get Moma

to carve out some Time

So we can visit our Friends

(It's been much too long and we miss you)

and

So we can

GO TO THE BEACH!!!

Title Change: Fergi's Hedgehog

OK
We're gonna start by saying
We changed the Title of this BlogPost
It was originally "Boycott Boring"
Which will make sense if you read clear through the Post
and click on the Christmas Tree Link when you're done


But
We're afraid
That had sent a Negative Tone
and
If you know us you know
We are far from Negative
(Or, at least, that's what we believe about ourselves)
(and we're pretty sure most would agree)


So
Instead
The Focus is now on Fergi
(with many many many Thanks
to the friends who have graciously acknowleged and supported her
in oh so many ways.)




Anyway


We originally started like this:


We're sorta bad about Awards

We've got a long history of receiving them

and
A longer History

of waiting forever to post about them

But something just promoted an Exception

Sort of

Weeks ago

From TwoDifferentVerySpecialFriends

Fergi (and Both of Us)

Received a VeryNiceAward
(thank you thank you thank you thank you)

We've been meaning to Follow the Rules

and

Tell ya all about Fergs
(Things you might not know about her)

About her eight year History as a Puppy Mill Breeder

About her Rescue and Adoption

and

All About the Progress she is making
and
About how much we love her and how much she loves us.

There are Lots of good Stories

and

There's been Lots of Progress

But we want to focus on One Thing

A VerySpecialToy she received last Spring

from her Friends Lacie, Scruffy and Stanley

It came with a Note

'Cause her pals from the Burgh know her pretty well

And they were mostly right

Fergi liked to cuddle with it on her BigBed

But

That All Changed

The toy was a Egg Toys Hedgehog

Made by Kyjen Innovative Dog Products

It became the first (and, so far, only) Stuffie

That Fergi has been interested in playing with

You see

Even still, Fergi is very timid and very easily scared

After eight years of nothing but making babies

in the confines of a wire crate

Even after two years with us

She's not yet learned about the fun of Stuffies or Balls or OtherToys

(Though she loves paper and crunchy leaves ... and, well ...

dirty clothes)

But this Toy was different.

Know why?

'Cause Moma buried treats in the innerds

Put 'em in through the slot in the Hedgehog's belly

And Fergi would work and work to get those treats out

We've even got some Video of her playing.

Me?

I love the Eggs that come inside.

Personally, those Hedgehog Eggs are the best toy in the Basket!

(Watch for a Video.  Moma promised to try to make One!

She'll update this post with it

If I ever quit begging for whatever is baking in the Oven

and decide to play with my Eggs, instead)

ANYHOW

The reason for all this writing

(and the reason we thought of the Hedgehog

 ... which reminded us about Fergi ...

... which reminded us about the Award we never have acknowledged ...

(thank you thank you thank you)

or 

... publicly thanked our VerySpecialFriends for ...

Young at Heart

First of All

We are more than a bit Frustrated 

with Our eXtra Old Moma

In our Opinion

She is not spending enuff Time

on Blogger

and we are missing visiting our Friends

and, even more upsetting

We are missing VeryImportantNews

Like

Scuby is Home!

(Actually, we knew Scuby is now inside her Home

What we didn't know what that she had been visiting

near the BackDoor at Night)

Anyhow

We are working on Moma

Trying to get her to Reprioritize

but

We're not making much Progress

So

We hope you'll not give up on Us

These next few Weeks

You see

She's getting old ... had another Birthday to prove it

and

We're getting ready for AnotherRoadTrip!

But

Back to the Weekend

Moma's Birthday fell on a Friday

A VeryWindyFriday

So windy we did not even consider our FridayHike

But

You know what?

We're FlexibleTerriers

and we've learned

If you've got Lemons

Make Lemonade

We knew exactly what to do in WarmWindyWeather

Yep!

Fly a Kite!

(What a better way for an NotSoYoung Moma

to act like a GleefulYoungChild?)

It was great Fun

For all of Us

Especially when we watched Moma run Barefoot

When the Kite string broke

(She got it!)

And

That's not All

We got some pretty Balloons

and watched them flutter in the Wind

and float up to the top of the DeckRoof

and eventually Sail off to New York

(by way of Greeley)

Where OurGirl and OurFriends were helping us celebrate

from a Distance 

And

That's not All

We've learned

(Even if OurGirl isn't Home to enjoy it)

Good Food goes paw-in-paw with Birthdays

This one was no Exception

Moma got the Hungries for Seafood

And of course we had to TasteTest

Turns out Fergi doesn't like Oysters on the Halfshell
(But I do!)
However she loves Clams and Mussels

And Moma must, too
'Cause all the Food sorta disappeared


AND
That's not All
There were Pressies
and Cards
and Lots and Lots of WellWishes

and
of course
Birthday Cake
(Gingerbread with Lemon Sauce)

Do ya think we're spoiled?

It was Tasty

It was a Great Day

Even if we DID miss OurGirl

and

Even if we DIDN'T save her any Leftovers

(heehee!)

And

Bottom Line

We've gotta admit

Moma is sorta Young at Heart

Even if she is sorta eXtra Old

Now

If she could just get all the Baking done

and the Crafts finished

and the Bags packed

SO WE CAN GET ON OUR WAY!

Sort of an Extra Special Supper

That's good

That's really good

Sour Cream?

Yummmmm

This is getting Better and Better

We'll let Moma have it all to Herself

(But, maybe maybe she'll give in to our Yearning Eyes)

A Different Toy Story

Moma's been in that VerySpecialCloset

The One where she hides Christmas Pressies

(as if OurGirl doesn't know they are there)

and

Some VerySpecialToys

Like

Football

So

When she opened the Door

to get the Pressies out to get them ready for OurTrip

I just HAD to have a play with my MostFavoriteToy

She got it down

Gave it to me

and

Left the room.

Like a GoodBoy

I played

Quietly and Independently

and

I must say

Quite Proudly

After a While

I called Moma in to see

I'm such a GoodBoy

But

I understand there's been a bit of a Misunderstanding

(with my help, of course)

(Hoping to delay the inevitable ... the post-weekend-dusty-hike Shower)

When the dreaded PlasticBag came out
and MyToys started disappearing into its recesses

What'd I do to deserve this?

Somebody was messin' around with me.

Right?

I sniffed

(I was being really really brave 'cause I hate those Bags)

Now!

Wow!

This was a GoodThing!

On the Big Bed

Somebuddy else was takin' a WholeDifferentApproach
(a VeryGentleOne)
to her Christmas Toys
(and She was ... and is ...  Happy, too)

We're likin' the Season
It's Good

And we're 'specially happy that we really don't need ... or want ...
Any new Toys
'Cause we have More right Now
Than we could ever have imagined could be True

We're enjoying the Gift of Forever Family
and
We're wishing it for Lots More Doggies and Kitties this Season
