CCM #223 Anything But A Card

Our challenge today at Crafty Cardmakers, and hosted by Angela, is Anything but a Card.

I made two sleighs, a large one and a smaller one.

Large Sleigh 2

Both started off as plain mdf, the rails of which I painted with silver acrylic paint. On both of them I covered the main body of the sleigh with some lovely foiled paper I have had in a stash since forever!

Small Sleigh

I glittered the edges of both sleighs with red glitter glue to hide anywhere my cutting out might not have been up to scratch, and also to give them a more Christmassy feel.

I used various Christmas berry picks and clusters to decorate them, along with poinsettia fabric flowers and metal snowflakes. The smaller sleigh was filled with cinnamon sticks and pine cones, dipped in gesso and glitter to simulate snow.

Both sleighs were glued down onto some old scraps of a cardboard box which I gessoed and the covered with artificial snow, mixed in with transparent mica flakes and glitter. The Reindeer were just painted brown and darker brown for their antlers.

The most difficult thing I found was attaching the reins, which just kept slipping off as they were just a soft silk thread.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of them both together to show the different size scale of them, and one has been sent to my Daughter for a decoration for her house.
