Its April!! I can't believe we are into the fourth month of the year already but here it is and it means we have a new challenge theme for you!
This month at The Flower Challenge we are looking for 'Shaped Cards'!! You can make any shape you like with a main floral theme. I can probably count on one hand how many times I've made a shaped card in my life, so I can't wait to see all the ideas you link in the Gallery!!
This doesn't happen very often but I actually made two cards to share with you today. They are small enough to add up to one card but are different shapes, so can't wait to hear what you think:
I'm being a bit tricky with my 'floral' theme this month. I was really struggling to come up with a shaped card idea and then came across these dies by Waffle Flower and thought they would be perfect!!
I started off by grabbing some white CS and Distress Oxide Inks 'Wilted Violet', 'Worn Lipstick', 'Cracked Pistachio', 'Broken China' and 'Spiced Marmalade'. I blended areas of the card stock big enough to cut out each of the Waffle Flower 'Lacy Flower' dies from each colour.
To make the card bases I used two top folding cards and die cut the Waffle Flower 'Lacy Flower Mats' from them, making sure two points of each flower die were hanging over the fold so they weren't cut. They way the cards could open like this:
I glued and layered the coloured dies on to each card front. For the sentiments (from Waffle Flower 'Congrats') I heat embossed them in white on strips of black CS and popped them up on foam tape. It would be easy to make envelopes for these with my WeRMemory Keepers Envelope Maker and they would make great gift cards.
I'm going to link these to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes'. Its my 4th entry, they will be getting sick of the sight of me......
You have until Wednesday 25th April to link your projects to The Flower Challenge and we will be back on the 15th with a few more ideas. Also don't forget to pop over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have created to inspire you. Can't wait to see all your amazing cards!!
Take care
Shona
