Prom Invitations & Decoration Prep & Set-Up!
Envelopes for the invitation all laid out on a drop cloth to do paint splatter, this actually took a surprisingly long time to make, BUT they were super fun to make --no surprise there!
I couldn't believe how much neon paint I went through!
I had cartons full of this handmade neon confetti to fill each invitation. I wanted the invitations to set the precedence and tone for the party, so it only made sense for the invitation to come with a party inside!
My amazing sister-in-law Tracy (owner of LilyGene prints on Etsy) designed these fabulous and incredible 80s Prom invitation for me!!! I told her what I wanted as far as scheme, colors, wording, and gave her my vision. She totally made it come to life and exceeded my expectations!!!!
The day my friend Kim received her invitation, she posted this on Instagram on her direct story. It made me smile to see my invitations out there in the world finally!
Light box I bought from Michael's!
This is my Dad and me at his birthday lunch! All he wanted to do was talk Prom plans! He is so self-less and it means so much to me that he makes my interests his own!
My hardworking and giving mother gave of her time to watch Trooper and Elle while my Dad and I used my new jigsaw to cut out the PROM marquee letters out of plywood.
This project was a lot harder and more time consuming that I had ever imagined haha. It was difficult to measure and space all the holes evenly.
I then painted them all black!
I then used modge podge and loads of glitter to add glitz and glam to these letters!
I love how they turned out! This took 5 strands of outdoor globe lights!!! They were incredibly bright we ended up unplugging them during the dance because they were sooo bright and gave off so much heat haha.
Setting up that morning:
My friends Amy Smith and Shelby Dorkin along with my Mom came with me that morning to make this spiral balloon arch! No Prom is complete without a balloon arch!
My Mom literally was there for me every step of the way, willing to take on anything I asked of her. So grateful for her dependability and support! Both my parents made this party possible!!!
Ta Da!!!
DECORATIONS
Prom Queen Crown!
Shhhh...don't tell Elle, but this is one of her crowns that I spray painted gold and one of my besties Cheyenne hot glued rhinestones and jewels from my Mom's collection on it for me!

I didn't want to buy a Prom King crown, looked at a few online, and decided I could make it better and cheaper myself!!! Oh the glorious cheesiness! Love the faux fur!
Yep, it fits!
My OOBER talented Mom spent a ton of time embroidering these for me for the Prom! A Prom King and Prom Queen must have a sash to wear!
The red fabric is my left over fabric from my Princess Buttercup Halloween costume, Ha!

Royal Crowns must sit on blue crushed velvet!!!
Ahhh! They looked so amazing! Thanks for all your help Mom!!!
My Mom even made hilarious corsage and boutonnieres for Truman and me. I told her the bigger and uglier and more obnoxious the better, I was very pleased!!! haha
You probably can't tell from the picture, but these are also huge! This classic Rubik's Cube is about 3 feet tall. Made out of cardboard, pasteboard, and electric tape! Score!
I am so obsessed with these colored paper straws! I own them in too many colors!
Vintage 80s Pumps, be still my heart!
Neon Spray Paint --a total must!!!
My friend Candice Churchill and her husband plus my Mom helped me round up a ton of cassettes! I used these for various decorations! Cheyenne helped me spray paint them all neon!
We also spray painted all these boxes black and then hot glued the neon cassettes to them. I was a box hoarder for a quite a while --thank you Amazon Prime! Ha!
I got a litter carried away with neon chalkboard pens --they are sooo fun!
I bought a ton of these shutter shades which are total 80s retro but they ended up being kid sized, ahhh! So, I took off all the arms and hot glued them to more black boxes! YAAASSSS!
Cheyenne and I sorted all the casettes and we left the clear ones aside to make these cute centerpieces! I bought blue tea lights from Amazon and it glowed through so pretty!
I got this cute "Fun" sign at Michael's!
More shutter shades & the balloon arch in place and ready to be used for the Prom Pic backdrop!
As we were starting to set up, I was getting major butterflies from excitement!
My helper Lexi and I setting up for the Prom!
I custom ordered this "It's Time to Party Like it's 1985!" banner from Party City & loved it!
My parents were so sweet and offered to hire 3 helpers for an hour and a half so we would be less stressed getting setup. It was a huge help and contribution, thank you Mom and Dad! So thoughtful and generous of you! Great job Erica, Bia, & Hannah!
There were 4 guest sitting tables against the back wall for eating and socializing. They were all mostly identical just with different colors and band names!
I was pretty thrilled with my Goonies themed table!!! Buahahah! Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE Goonies. Pretty much one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time! So naturally, an 80s party requires some tribute The Goonies! Also, it gave me a good excuse to use my Halloween skeleton again!!!!
I bought these super cool balloons from China from eBay and they had LED changing lights in them. It made for some fun lighting at the Prom!
Truman lookin' good in his mullet
Guests to arrive any minute! Finishing touches!
Had to snap a pic with my Mom by the Prom King and Queen Royalty table because of all her amazing help with it all!
I found my lightning bolt earrings off Amazon, they were 4 inches long haha. My necklace is from the thrift store. My purple bow I made with purple sequin fabric from Joann's. I used my Ursula electric blue eye shadow and my LipSense Fleur De Lisa hot pink lipstick! I bought Truman's wig off Amazon, my Mom made his boutonniere, the faux Ray Ban sunglasses were for everyone and from Amazon. Truman's blue velvet blazer and burgundy silk shirt are from the thrift store.
Let's get this Prom started! Time to Party like it's 1985!!!
