Sinulog 2012: Street Dancing + Party

Here are my shots of the Grandest Festival in the Philippines: Sinulog Festival 2012 in Cebu, Philippines (my dear hometown) held last January 15, 2012. Shots taken during the Grand Parade/Street Dancing. Just got a Free Pass after registering to the Sinulog 2012 Photo Contest (decided not to submit any entries because i don't have RAW files to present since most of my shots are taken in JPEG format already). Streets were closed from public/private vehicles just to give way to the celebration. Roughly 3 Million devotees joined this year's event. This is the first ever Sinulog Festival where I used a SLR to capture amazing dancers with great props & costumes. I also shared these photos publicly in my facebook account, a bit happy from my friends' feedbacks. I used a Nikon D5000 here, with 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor Lens. Hope you'll enjoy below shots! Til' next year CEBU!

Mactan-Mandaue "Old" Bridge & Cebu City Lights at Night

These photos were taken way back 2011 (September 16 I guess), on our way to Palompon, Leyte. I am a fan of Night shots, especially scenes that deal with City Lights/Skyscrapers, you can see the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge ("The Old Bridge" as named by the locale), as well with the North Reclamation part of Cebu City & Mandaue City. This is the first out-of-town escapade with my Nikon D5000 SLR Camera. I just used a Kit lens here (AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR Lens). Photo justification were done in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3(just a newbie on this software since i used to have Photoshop CS5 in enhancing photos). Comments highly appreciated. :)

My 50mm f/1.8G AF-S Nikkor Lens (Test Shots)

Since this is my new photo blog, I will still be posting shots from 2011 wherein I bought my first ever SLR cam (Nikon D5000). You can see below the first testing shots taken by my cam using a 50mm f/1.8G AF-S Nikkor Lens. I bought this one in Pixel Pro Shop in ParkMall, Mandaue City, Cebu for Php14,000. I decided to have this kind of lens since I saw sample shots as well from my friend James, love the "blurryness" of the background & how defined the subject is. I also love the "Bokeh" effect of the lens. The disadvantage is that you can't zoom in/out, since it is a prime lens (having fixed focal length, for this it's 50mm). This lens is really great when you start to divulge in photography. I got positive feedbacks from friends as well that the shots where great, especially profile shots. :)

Marcelo Fernan Bridge at Night

Hello. This is my first post for my new photo blog. I took time to shoot one of the famous landmark here in Cebu - The Marcelo Fernan Bridge. I chose to have it at night since its beauty is justified by the lights (aside from availability due to hectic work schedule). I used my Nikon D5000 on below shots.
