Answers to Prayer by George Mueller

George Mueller opened an orphanage in Bristol, England in 1835 that saw thousands of abandoned children saved. Armed only with prayer and faith, which were the vital components of his nineteenth century ministry, George Mueller ministered for over sixty years. Through this narrative account, Mueller reveals how powerful and spiritually rewarding prayer can be in your life.
George Mueller was a truly great man of God, but he wasn't always so. As a youth, he was a thief, a liar, and a gambler, but God's grace brought about a 180-degree turnaround in his life. After that happened, Mueller learned about the power of prayer, which taught him that: God is real, God is completely trustworthy, and God answers prayer. He wrote, There was a day when I died, utterly died, died to George Mueller, his opinions, preferences, tastes, and will. Died to the world, its approval or censure, died to the approval or blame even of my brethren and friends, and since then I have studied only to show myself approved unto God. As you read the bountiful and miraculous answers to prayer that are reported in this book, don't be surprised if you feel a stirring within your spirit that becomes a desire to pray and ask God to use your life for His glory.
George Müller (born Johann Georg Ferdinand Müller, 27 September 1805 – 10 March 1898), a Christian evangelist and Director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England, cared for 10,024 orphans in his life. He was well known for providing an education to the children under his care, to the point where he was accused of raising the poor above their natural station in life. He also established 117 schools which offered Christian education to over 120,000 children, many of them being orphans.

The Answers Book for Kids Volume 4 by Ken Ham & Cindy Malott

At the heart of the Bible is the theme of sin, salvation through Christ, and guidance for living the kind of life that honors our Creator God. Since Adam and Eve chose to disobey in the Garden of Eden, questions about sin, salvation, and the Christian life have often puzzled us.
This book gives answers intended to form a strong and lasting faith foundation in the next generation. More importantly, it will set the example of seeking answers—even for the toughest questions—in God’s Word, our final authority.

Volume 4’s questions

  1. Why did God create people when He knew they would sin?
  2. Could God not forgive our sins without the suffering of Christ?
  3. Will God and Jesus keep me safe from Satan’s fallen angels?
  4. When a solider is in Iraq and he kills someone, is he breaking God’s commandments?
  5. When we go to heaven, we have to be perfect up there or wherever. Doesn’t that mean our personalities will be changed and everyone will be the same?
  6. Why does God let the bad guys win sometimes?
  7. Why isn’t Satan the first sin instead of Adam and Eve?
  8. If God is perfect and there was no sin, then where did the sin come from that entered into Lucifer’s heart when he became vain?
  9. Why do animals die? We are the ones who sinned, so why are they punished? They didn’t do any thing wrong.
  10. If I am God’s child, then why doesn’t He keep me from being sick or hurt here on earth?
  11. If God can control anything, why did He let the tsunami hit and so many people get hurt? Did He create the tsunami?
  12. Why did Cain kill Abel?
  13. What happens to the people who died before Jesus came? Are they in Heaven or Hell?
  14. Did Adam and Eve go to heaven?
  15. What is heaven like? Are there really mansions? Will I stay 10 forever?
  16. How will I know what to do when I get to heaven?
  17. What does “being born again” mean? Does that mean that we have a new age to God?
  18. When Jesus comes back why will all of nature (mountains, trees rocks etc.) bow down to him and how will they do that?
  19. Why did Jesus preach in Asia and not America?
  20. Did God cry when Jesus died?
  21. If Satan changed everything by tricking Eve, how do I know Jesus can keep me safe from him? God should have kept Satan from tricking Adam and Eve because he loved them.
  22. How do we know other religions aren’t true?

Fire from Heaven? Charismatic Doctrine and Practice in the Light of the Bible by Erwin H W Luimes

Fire from Heaven? - What does the Bible say?

For many decades, believers and churches alike have been confronted with all kinds of teachings and practices from the various forms of the charismatic movement. Many people do not know what to make of these things and wonder whether they come from Satan's domain. Should we be wary of these developments? What does the Bible say?

Many other believers who want to believe the gospel are captivated by all these developments: healing of terrible diseases through prayer, miraculously speaking in foreign or strange languages, dreams and visions, powerful deliverance from demonic forces. After everything that they have experienced as being 'dead' in Christianity, here at last there is something alive which is supposed to demonstrate the omnipotence of God. At last, there is some proof that our God really is powerful. This is what is claimed. What does the Bible say?

The Hired Man's Clock by Dale S Marshall

The Hired Man’s Clock is a fictional story demonstrating how the life of one simple, but godly man, even after his death was used by the Lord for His glory. The book is not a true story; it is from the author’s imagination. But it could be factual because most of the incidents were based on happenings he had experienced or had heard of.

The Hired Man’s Clock is a series of stories. Each chapter is complete in itself yet each has connections with the others. In every chapter, some details which seem insignificant become meaningful in others. May the Lord be honoured and may He be glorified through the story of The Hired Man’s Clock.

The story is set in Canada and covers over 80 years, showcasing events and times of different people's lives who all are connected to the clock.

This book is a hard-to-put-down read, very well written and bringing in important Biblical truths and practical Christian living without preaching at the reader. Very enjoyable for youth and adult alike.

Highly recommended reading.

The Value of Trials by Mrs Judson A Elliott

This tender little booklet is a collection of jewels mined in the dark, but how it sparkles in the light! Someone wrote:
“Suffering is so universal, so staggering in its magnitude, the world so unjust, so unsatisfying, life so short and time so fleeting, it seems as if this earthly life was never intended by God to be a place where human happiness could find its fruition.”
But this is the place where, by trials, we can be matured and sweetened to prepare us for our heavenly home. Mrs. Elliott takes us on a journey along the path of divine comfort and shows us the way.

A Woman of Prayer by Betty Henderson

Most of us would acknowledge that we don't pray as much as we should. And we admire the great men and women who seem to have found the answer to fervent praying. But we too can find the answer by asking the right question. What must change for me to spend more time alone with God?

In her uplifting and practical Bible study, Betty Henderson invites you to live life as A Woman of Prayer. Believers acknowledge that prayer is an integral part of Christian living, but how many of us know what prayer entails? From the basic “Prayer Principles” to the realities of “Prayer Practiced,” Henderson takes Christian women step-by-step through Scripture, demystifying our prayer life with a challenge to simply converse with the God, who hears. Successive Bible study and practical, spiritual application draw out valuable lessons from God’s Word for women today and make A Woman of Prayer ideal for discipleship and personal or group devotions.

True Discipleship by William MacDonald

The Lord Jesus made stringent demands on those who would be His disciples—demands that are all but overlooked in this day of luxury living. Too often we look on Christianity as an escape from hell and a guarantee of heaven. Beyond that, we feel that we have every right to enjoy the best that this life has to offer. We know that there are those strong verses on discipleship in the Bible, but we have difficulty reconciling them with our ideas of what Christianity should be.
And yet the words of the Lord Jesus are clear enough. There is scarcely any room for misunderstanding if we accept them at their face value.

Follow-Up Guide for New Christians by OJ Gibson

Follow-up means helping someone who has made a profession of faith in Christ to get started. It is very important in firmly establishing a new believer in the faith.

Good follow-up conserves the fruit of an evangelistic contact by helpful assistance to the newly regenerated person. It may also reveal a premature or false profession which needs to be converted into a true relationship with Christ.

The responsible follow-up helper needs to be a friend and encourager, not just someone who checks up on answers. The lessons are merely tools to use. Quality work by the helper is the most important factor.

The outcome of the follow-up will depend more on the convert’s desire toward God than on yours. Keep this responsibility where it belongs. Do your best but do not assume the burden of their success or failure.
