I Miss My Baby

This is my first time to join Once Upon A Sketch. I've been hearing a lot about the site but my life has been turned upside down and haven't been scrapbooking the last few months LOL, this is the second time I joined a challenge for the year.

On a scrapbooking note : do you see the "yellow-green" roses on the layout? I'm happy with the outcome. I have leftover white roses and I used my glimmer mists to color them. Love the outcome!

I found this picture of Dawter T among my stash. And suddenly, I miss my little girl. It is as if our move from Singapore to Melbourne also made her grow up fast. She has more responsibilities now. She doesn't have an Ate A to call when she wants something. She has been a source of strength for me. She's the one I talk to about serious stuffs coz I don't talk to a lot of ladies nowadays hehehe In fairness, she's old for a 9 year old. And her shoe size --- same as mine!!!

Journal :

I MISS MY BABY

You grow up too fast.

You don't ask for help that much anymore.

You tie your hair by yourself.

You choose your own clothes

or return the ones I choose for you.

I miss my baby.

Where has the time gone?

Note :

Thank you to Webster's Pages for featuring this layout! Can't stop smiling!

Dog

Dawter T and Bebi A came up with the title for this one. They both have been WANTING a pet dog! But, unfortunately, I am not a pet person. I do love dogs (please don't tell them!), I grew up with dogs all around the house. But, for some reason, I am not as enamored as my daughters and husband...

This dog, Pugsley, is the closest they got to touching one. When we went home to the Philippines in our 2010 vacation, Tita E's family just bought one. He's a cutie, alright! And my daughters just fell in love with him.

On the scrappy side of this post, hmmm, I finally scrapped my Webster's Pages again. I am very unsure of this layout. It seemed bare, it seemed to lack something. But, it's a step closer to getting my mojo back. LOL. I've been making small tags, cards for my March Madness projects. I am happy to be in my own world again. It seem to bring out the stress out. Scrapping does that to me. But, it's quite stressful looking for my tools, my materials in my boxes. When will I ever be able to unload them all? And, when will I have my scrappy room! Hehehe...

Happy Wednesday!

An All Girls Party

I was really not comfortable to hold a party without the hubby but I promised Dawter T that we would celebrate her 9th birthday with her friends from school. Well, I'm glad we did! It was so much FUN!!! Amidst all the screams and the shrills, the girls were so much fun to talk to. They're very mature 9 year olds.

I convinced the Dawter to hold a scrapbook party and a baking party and a spa party and so on... In the end, it was a scrapbooking party with lots of games. They had fun with the "pabitin with a twist"; and they ate a lot of corn dogs. Hehe!

9 Years

The LUCKY 9 BLOG RAK is still OPEN. Hope you can join us!!!

9 years flew by... I couldn't believe that my little first born is now at the her last year of single digit age. And, we've started acquiring some things that is inevitable for her growing body. *wink* No mention of boys yet so I am a bit relieved on that part. LOL.

Lucky 9 Blog RAK

My eldest daughter is celebrating her 9th birthday this coming Monday and looking back, it is as if time warped and I got myself a 9 year old. This sleep deprived, not so hungry baby suddenly became this young lady right in front of my eyes...

She was this temperamental baby who couldn't sleep at night, kept daddy and mommy awake that first 4 months. Suddenly, she just slept the night through and I panicked. I asked my boss if this is a sign that she's sick or something (first time mom!), my boss laughed and she told me she has adjusted. Oh finally, right!

She was a very happy baby, never lacking attention. She went to all those phases from Barney, HI-5, Disney Princesses until it became Totally Spies, now I, Carly...

She used to say Cindewella... Totally have no "R"s... Now, she's the one correcting her little sister when she speaks incorrectly. She practices for her oral exams, not only in English but also in Mandarin.

She will always be our baby... And we will always be at her back, waiting for her to look back when she needs help, then we will walk beside her because that is the time to just hold hands and celebrate her success...

Looking back and more, here are 9 Things about Her...

She had to stay at the hospital for a week because of Jaundice

She started walking at exactly 9 months

She's very serious but once you get to know her, she will crack you up!.

She loves to dance, draw and write stories.

Her favorite subject is Math. I can't fathom how she could answer those complicated Math problems at her age but she does.

She loves salted popcorn.

She likes to lead her group projects or organize games with her friends and cousins ... aka bossy...

She sleeps with her fake dog, Fluffy.

She loves deeply.

As thanksgiving, we hope you can join us in this little blog RAK!
Please share with us a favorite quote or advice that you've read or have heard. I am planning to create a wall decor/layout for her with all those advices/quotes. Thank you so much!!!

These goodies are (my current fave papers) 16 A4 sized Prima Pixie Glen patterned papers, Prima stamp, Authentique alpha stickers, assorted Maya Road chipboards, MME die cut, flowers, brads, ribbons.

The birthday girl will pick the "lucky one" next Saturday!

Birthday Girl's Choice

Thank you for all your birthday wishes! We had fun celebrating at the beach, my daughter had loads of fun playing with the sand and water. The birthday girl's choice is :

RuthMarieIan!

Earlier today, we went to church for mass, she told us that she prayed for good weather and that her two close friends will come to her party.
Both her wishes came true! Sometimes I wish I had child-like faith... So I asked her to pray for me to win the lottery. *wink*

Sketch 213

Before I proceed, if you haven't made a comment, this --->RAK ALERT : Eight Twenty-Two is still ongoing. Please join us as we countdown to Dawter T's birthday!

-o-

Quirky, Fun, Haughty, Serious are just few of Dawter T's traits. She can be serious especially if she's in the thinking mood, but she can be wacky and quirky when the occassion calls for it.

This is for Sketch 213 at Scrapbook Challenges. Hope you can join us this week! Also, the Color Challenge at SC is still ongoing and those that submits a layout with sepia photo will get an Imaginisce stamp!

THANK YOU!
Have a great weekend!

Fearless

My take on Scrappers@SG's round robin. I was the last one on my team and it's so great to see how the layout has evolved. Please check out the layouts of the other members. They're awesome, I tell you!

My little girl is turning 8 next Sunday. I can't believe it!!! I always say that time flies very fast. But, it's true. I can remember how anxious I was and so impatient for her to come out. And, when she did, I fell in love over and over again.
At 7, she now have crushes. Yeah. What can I do, right? But, be her friend hehehe be her annoying friend who tries to make her tell me everything. Hahaha. She likes to dress up and has her own style. She loves to stay glued to anything electronic (computer, tv, Iphone, DS, arggghhhh) but she's still my little girl, and that won't change. It's 10 days away. I want to savor her at seven.

Sketch 205

Doing this sketch made me realize that I didn't have red-colored papers. Why? I don't know. Hahaha. With the amount of paper I had, I still had to go and buy papers last Sunday and made this after a very happy Father's Day... (we ate sushi --- again!!! and watched Toy Story 3)

I know what I wanted to do. I am very happy that I saw that scallop black cardstock. And I know that I already have a lot of Webster Pages (who can resist? really?) but I couldn't resist but had to buy two of these Seaside Retreat vellum.
Close up of the cut outs and flowers.

This will go to Dawter T's SYF album. So, you could guess that the color theme is red and black. I'd probably have to go and look for other red colored papers in order to finish the album! But, I am uber happy with this.

And, yes... I still haven't used an alternative journaling technique hahaha I am still using strips. I will surprise you one of these days! *wink*

This is for Sketch 205 at Scrapbook Challenges. Please check out the other DTs awesome samples!

It All Starts With Paper (+ RAK)

It's my turn to issue a challenge at Scrapbook Challenges.

And, my challenge is to create a layout with these three techniques that starts with paper *wink*

Paper Cutting...
I love cutting patterns from my precious papers hehehe It's relaxing and will definitely take your mind off from whatever's worrying you because if you don't concentrate, you just might make a wrong cut... *wink*

Paper Tearing...
Once, my husband incredelously ask me WHY I tear my papers? He cannot fathom the thought that I horde these papers and then just tear it like I don't care. I love the look of grungy, torn papers on my layouts because it gives a shabby feeling to it. Plus it creates dimension...

Paper Rolling...

I have tried paper rolling before but only got the hang of it when I started using a skewer/(Satay/barbecue/hotdog) stick. From then, I never looked back. Again, it gives dimension and can also create a pattern on your page.

Here's the sample layout :

What are you waiting for? Let's Cut, Tear and Roll!

So excited to see your layouts for the challenge! Happy Scrapping!

Seven

Finally, it's done and I can move on. Haha! It took time to cut all those 6 petal flowers, glue and curl them. But, I loved it! Though I was a bit frustrated that after adhering all those flowers, my creative juice stopped flowing. I will probably take another shot during daylight because the light didn't do justice to my lovely flowers, hehehe. I just had to post this tonight so that I can relax and that this won't be hanging on my head. I consider this as one of my LOs which took TIME to finish. It took more than SEVEN days. And seeing this before I sleep and after I wake up can be quite frustrating.

So, ok, I am rambling. Happy Saturday! One more day and it's back to the grind!

What We Were Up To

Today.

Dawter T and her Fusion Dance group went to UCC hall for Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging. I was amazed and so happy about it. I never experienced such when I was studying. And then, there's the thing about me and dancing. I have two left feet. So there.

I am the group's official mommy photographer. I just had to volunteer so that I can watch Dawter T. And hardwork paid off as we can bring other family members. Ate A and Bebi A was able to watch as well.

Create Yourself

One of my major jobs as a mother is to be my daughter's cheerleader. I always tell my my daughters that they can be whatever they want.

With a few hours to spare for Laine's challenge, managed to upload this. *wink* And this...

The second LO makes me feel that it's lacking something. But I don't know what I can add to it. I just console myself with my daughters' faces.

The Flip {Side}

This is my take for Scraplift the POTW Week 4. I really made a career out of this new challenge at Scrapbook Challenges. Is it too obvious that I LOVE the prize?! Haha...

I finally used those years old papers. There's just something with pink and green that makes it hard for me to let go of them. Made these last Wednesday then added the butterflies this morning. The butterflies seemed out of place but I just had to show off (hehe) my newly acquired Martha Stewart puncher hahaha I couldn't leave the house this morning without trying it out even though Pre was still sleeping (he's on leave, hmp!).

This is Dawter T when she learned to roll over. She's such a cuteee and there's just the wonder of first born that you document everything. (Sorry Bebi A hahaha I did take pictures but not as many as Ate's!)

Here she is now with Bebi A. If I don't threaten them, they wouldn't even look from the Nintendo DS. Time really does fly.

Honesty

Nothing crafty this weekend as we had guests from Philippines, a birthday party that we attended and a trip to the LSS/Build A Bear. It's not from lack of trying. I have the picture but I couldn't decide which paper to use.

That penguin above is Dawter T's Honesty Penguin for school. She wanted papers with hearts. Glad that I still had some scraps from WRMK. Helped her with the cutting, couldn't helped myself. I just had to be the meddling mother.

Dawter T is Seven!

Tomorrow.

We're not going to have a big celebration. I hope she'll be happy nevertheless. I decided to make a card for her though she complained that there's no element of surprise anymore as she has already seen it.

Happy birthday to my dear princess! Stay happy!

Godmother

Instead of doing an lo about me and my daughters for mother's day, I've decided to create an lo for one of the honorary mothers of my daughters hehehe... She is my sister, and my eldest daughter's godmother, or as they fondly call her, "ninang". Ninang is Tagalog for godmother.

She is one of the most important people in our life. It was only here in Singapore, after 29 years of living apart did we live under one roof and get to know each other's quirks and perks.

Her birthday is also coming up soon. Hmmmm...

This is also my layout for Sketch 142 at Scrapbook Challenges. Check out what the other DTs have created!

I've told you last time about the other awesome activities at Scrapbook Challenges. Marilyn is showcasing a technique using stamps, Kissing Stamps, it's so cool! I would have never thought of that. (Oh, why am I so stamp-challenged!!!)

And then, there's also this week's DT challenges. One of the challenges is by Rowee ---> Word. You have to create an LO using the word "Precious". A sepia photo must be used.

And last but not the least, guess who is Pamela's pick of the week??? No other than my good friend, Mareng M. Incidentally, please check out her blog ---> her 3rd blogoversary blog candy is going on!
