ABC - U

This is for U - Comment in your own Language - dette er for deg, kommenter på ditt eget morsmål.
The Letter U is often used as a prefix both in English and Norwegian.
Mostly in English combined as "Un" like in "Undone" - "ugjort" or "Unfinnished" - "uferdig" or "Undetermined" - "ubesluttet". As you, my dear readers have allready discovered: In English these words starts with "Un" and in Norwegian with a simple "U".
But not all - alle

As Usual I start with:

The Letter “U”
“U,” the fifth and last (in English) of the true vowels, symbolizes collecting.

People wearing this letter in their name are talented enough to do anything they can imagine. Their imagination plays ... read more

The origin od the letter U? Check here.

I'll bring you some examples, before I will be more or less unavailable - utilgjengelige. Or may be unbeatable - uslåelig. haha
It's Vacation time. U know;-))

Let's start in Oslo - This is the old University - universitet - in downtown Oslo. Inside there is fantastic frescos painted by Edvard Munch. I had my Psycho lessons here. In the Aula. Where I also joined several classical music concerts. Before the new Concert Hall in Oslo were finnished.

Turning around from the University, we are still in Oslo. And here you see "Urban" - "urbant" life - liv in the Norwegian Capital.

Before I bring you far away from Norway, I'll show you how some parts of our Summer House (sommerhus) looked like "Unfinnished" - "uferdig". You can't image how steep it us unless been there.

It's about time to bring you, my dear readers, on a journey. The letter " U" ain't easy, "unless - unntatt" you are from USA - USA. Photo taken on July 4, in SW Michigan, Eaux Claire - I had to explain to the locals the name of the Township orginates from French and means Clearwater. I will not comment on their reactions.

It's a long way from USA to South America. Here you see the national Flower of Uruguay - Uruguay. Same colours as is in the country's National Flag.

Norwegians love to walk in the Nature and the Mountains. Maybe it's unexpected that I bring you here?
This tiny village, Uspallata (Mendoza District in Argentina), is where you have to apply for a permission to climb the highest point in the Americas, and the highest Mountain outside Asia.
So now you know where to adress, when thinking about climbing to 6.954 meters, when snow over 7.000 meters.

Continue reading and I'll bring you closer.

Here you see Aconcagua, when we first time did see this Majestic Mountain.
What does this photo have to do with the letter "U"? It's simply unhabitated - ubebodd.
We were there in April. That's not the best time of year. It was blowing and blowing and snowing higher up. So we gave up, even to base camp. Best time of year is early January.

Sometimes we have to admit: It's better to go "Under - under" than over a Mountain. This photo, scanned from a slide, is the Argentian side of the main road between Argentina and Santiago de Chile. For your information: The old railroad and road have both been destroyde by stone sledges. Caused by Snow and Eartquakes.

You will without doubt find more here at ABC – in Words and Photos – ABC i ord og bilder. The original ABC challenge derived from Denise Nesbitt from Yorkshire in England and Petunia brought the challenge to Norabway Click on this Link - lenke to see more fascinating ABC-U

PS. We will be on Vacation for some weeks. I'll try to comment and post whenever I have an Internet connection. Cat-sitters are in place, when we visit Family and Friends south of Norway.
You are wellcome to visit my travel blog

Space - Photo Hunt Saturday, Mach 7 - 2009

There are places on Planet Earth, where you can find Space. Lot's of space. Even for other creatures but Homo Sapiens. And for nobody to live at all.
These photos are from the Puna in NW Argentina. Where it is plenty of Space.
And high above Sea Level - from 3500 - over 4000 meters above.

Salar Grande - Puna NW Argentina. Lot's of Space. But hard to survive.

This tiny village do have Space around, even though it is a hard place to survive. It's so beautiful. When you you are the accidential Tourist, as we were.

See - the Sheeps have lots of Space. Even on this empty main road.

And the Vicuñas seems to be in Paradise with all the Space they can live for free.
I love these proud animals. When they are Wild and Free like here. They need space to survive as a species.

PH -Wild : Anna 3x20 - Counting Down - 6 days left

Wild - he he, I said to my self, when counting days to the 3x20 Event on September 20: The whole Event is simply a wild thought. But it is, as Anna says, an opportunity for her to meet old friends once again - at the same time. Which is not a Wild Idea.

But you have asked for it - WILD I mean: (2 photo this time)
WILD.

Wild Water - much more than we can drink during next weeks party.
(Foz do Iguazo - Cataratas de Iguazú)

Only 6 days left to Anna's tripple twentieth Birthday. Wow.
But who are coming?

We will have a Wild Celebration next Saturday. Here mr. N and papa with cigars.

By now you have been presented for 12 of the Guests. How many will it be? Stay tuned. More to come. Many more? Or?

A Watercruise

Be a witness, if you can't go there. I must admit: this adventure is more than I'm able to describe in short. Nature is fantastic

Local knowledge is imperative when planning a new destination. ( we go "green" and buy from the locals i.e. Local owned hotels, restaurants, guides, shops etc.)
OK, Join our adventure at the Iguazu Waterfalls- by boat. The tour takes only 13 small pictures, which you can see in seconds. But, if you really want to feel the splendour and nature around these Falls: Stay at least 2 days. We stayed only 2 nights and 2 1/2. And we feel we must come back.
Here is 13 of our pictures:

Wordless Wednesday - March 5 - 2008

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY - ORDLØS ONSDAG - MERCREDI SANS MOTS

Wordless Pictures (allmost) you can find hundres of here. Remember there is no theme related. Only a photo taken by yourself that needs no further comments - self explained. (Even though many does). But you can ask in the comments you write on other bloggers entry: What is it? Then the poster do have to answere. In this way you can build up a network with people who are really interested, instead of competing "Look how many "comments" received". See my point?

NARROW

We happend to suddenly be on this narrow road. Here it is, well, a sort of driveable. But later on, I did not dare to stop and take pictures (Enlarge and try to imagine what would come) Anna closed her eyes. It was steep on both sides. Rocks and water on the road, a huge mud-lake down under - point of no return. With a tiny, 2 wheel drive Car. No Cell Phone contact. Mad Vikings. But beautiful Nature I'm told. Had my eyes on the Path. Yes Path or Trial. Passing the Sand Dunes 1 hrs later was even more risky.

Papa and Klara

CATS ON TUESDAY
My regular readers do know I love Cats. And speaks to Cats in their language wherever I am. It's easier for me than most Human Languages. How is that with you? Mieuoow
You have (?) met Klara or Clara before. That is the name Ingelin gave her, not what the CEO of the hotel named her: Evita. Hence you got the clue: She is an Argentinian young Lady.

I do think she felt in love with me. Neither Anna nor Ingelin did find her. I just sat down in the Shadow and seconds later she was there. May be it's the colour of my skin. Just like at the Wall behind.

No Tango needed to get in touch - or was it too hot for a dance?

She is looking down. Am I too sexy dressed for such a meeting? Or simply too well fed? (She attacked my left foot - but no Cameras to witness)
Did you know the Nickname for a Cat in Norway is: Pus?
When the old Viking, naïv as allways, translates it to English, it comes out as "Pussy". Some giggles others are shocked. Can someone explain? You know, how to avoid to embarrass people.

Can I say: I love pussies without being misunderstood. Or should I say: I love Cats. Please advice.

Have a great week. There will be more adventures posts to come (also from Ingelin's transit via Oslo from Miami to Hong Kong)
More Cats here at Gattinas site

PS. Besides Workload - well, we have to plan Ingelin's 4 days in transit here - with friends and family. Besides my oldest Son is 40 today. Please do understand and excuse me for not beeing a regular visitors these Days. I do not like it, but some times - Facts is facts: Even I have to admit it's a life outside our blogsphere.

TORsday 13 - Jan 24 - 2008

My 13 this Thursday is from The Iguazu Falls on the Frontier between Argentina and Brazil. All pictures taken first week of December 2007. I will come back to more details about the trip and the surroundings and sad facts about the Rainforest. You my look at this as a teaser. OK?

1 - Walking in the Rainforest, you can hear a noise. And suddenly ----

2 - Wow - what is this?

3 - Closer and closer

4 - Very close - you can even come here in a wheel chair.
5 - Here the River starts falling down into the Cataratas de Iguazu - Foz do Iguazo

6 - Water everywhere - it's incredible large
7 - Waterclouds
8 - Rainbow
9 - Impressive

10 - Close and wet - haha - very refreshing
11 - These birds lives only in the Iguazu Falls. Their body temperature force them to stay inside the falls - but they need food and fly out to catch insects. But they can not stay outside for many minutes. Enlarge to watch.

12 - Can we come closer?

13 - Yes, on the Iguazu River in Boat (that's another story)
..... More to come (about the sightseeing options and the Riverboat tour)
PS. This was originally meant to be posted under "Cyber Cruises" - but that meme has moved to Word Press. I'm not there yet. How to find out more about it, go to Mrs Lifecruiser
