"Hunting" Double page layout (Glue Dots and Paper House Productions blog hop)

 Time: About 45 minutes
Level: Intermediate
Size:  12 x 24”
Notes:  When I saw The Great Outdoors collection and that it has a specific “hunting” theme, I knew I had to use it to document my husband’s week in the mountains with his buddies. They go hunting every year and he looks forward to it every time. Because my page is already very busy, I opted for a more subtle title using the shadow/raised effect with my title.
Materials
Cardstock- (white and green) Die Cuts With a View
Pattern paper collection- The Great Outdoors, Hunting, Paper House Productions
        11 3x4 photos
Tools:
        Craft, Glue Dots®
        Pop Up, Glue Dots®
        Mini, Glue Dots®
        Border punch- Fiskars
Electronic Die Cut Machine- Cameo, Silhouette
Manual Die Cut Machine- Cuttlebug, Provo Craft
Embossing folder- Divine Swirl, Provo Craft
Cut file- Christmas Tree, Silhouette Design Studio
        Font- Impact
 Directions:
1. Cut 7 3x4 panels from various pattern papers within the collection. Place them on the cutting mat.
2. Type up HUNTING on the Silhouette design software and use the font “Impact”. Enlarge each letter to fit within the 3x4 size. Cut out the letters from the pattern papers you’ve prepared.

3. Take out the circle accents from the Christmas tree cut file and duplicate the shape to make 3 trees on the design software. Edit the sizes of the trees so that you have one large, one medium, and one small tree. Cut it out using the green cardstock.

4. Run the trees through the Cuttlebug die cut machine with the Divine Swirls embossing folder.
5. Cut out 2 6x9” pieces from the brown wood paper.

6. Add a scallop border on the top of the P-2149 paper and cut out the strip to about ¾ x 9”. Repeat the process to have two identical border strips.

7. Cut out two ½ x 9” strip from the P-2143 paper.
8. Cut out the 3x4 cut apart piece (Black with deer silhouette) from paper.
9. Adhere the 3x4 cut apart piece on the top bottom edge of the left side of the page using some Craft, Glue Dots® adhesive.

10. Adhere the rest of the 3x4 pattern paper pieces, staring with the negative pieces using some Mini, Glue Dots® adhesive. Go across both sides of the double page.

11. Adhere the positive side of the letters with some Pop Up, Glue Dots® adhesive to give it a shadow, raised look.
12. Place one of the brown woodgrain paper on the left side of the left page. Adhere it about 1/8” into the paper leaving a white border on the top and left side of the page. Adhere with Craft, Glue Dots® adhesive.
13. Place the scallop edge strip on the right edge of the wood grain paper. Adhere with some Mini, Glue Dots® adhesive. Adhere the colorful ½” strip of paper over the edge too using more Mini, Glue Dots® adhesive.
14. Adhere some of the 3x4 photos to fill the rest of the left page. You will have to overlap some of them. Adhere them with Craft, Glue Dots® adhesive.
15. Repeat steps 12-14 to complete the right page of the layout.
16. Adhere the largest tree on the left side of the page using some Craft, Glue Dots® adhesive. Trim off the excess.
17. Adhere the middle tree to the farthest right side of the right page. Trim the excess. Adhere the smallest tree, overlapping the medium tree with some Pop Up, Glue Dots® adhesive.

18. Add finishing touches to the page using some of the dimensional and flat stickers within the paper collection.
 Notes:
I do not like too much bulk to my embellishments so I opted to take out the back layer of the dimensional stickers so that my elements are only raised once and not twice.
If you wish to add journaling to the page, you can leave off the 3x4 paper with the deer silhouette out and include a journaling block in there instead.

"conGRADulation Wishes" card (Glue Dots and Pink & Main Stamps blog hop)

Happy Friday dear friends. Today I'm participating in a blog hop brought to you by Glue dots and Pink & Main Stamps. I had fun working with the Pink & Main stamps and papers and adhering them with Glue dots adhesive makes for a fun, stress free cardmaking session.

“ConGRADulation Wishes” card
Designed by: Grace Tolman
Time: About 30 minutes
Level: Intermediate
Size:  5 ½ x 4 ¼”
Notes: When I saw the cute owl image, I couldn’t resist. And adding some Glue Dots® adhesive enabled me to add some extra “gift” to this handmade card.

Materials
Cardstock- (white) Core’dinations; (Maroon) Die Cuts With a View
Pattern papers- Take Flight, 6x6 pad, Pink & Main
Tools:
Glue Lines, Glue Dots®
Pop Up, Glue Dots®
Spray adhesive- Tacky Spray, Aleene’s
Ink- Black, Hybrid, My Favorite Things
Stamp- Grad Owl, Pink & Main
Die cuts- Wishes die, PNM086, Pink & Main
Manual die cut machine- CuttleBug, Provo Craft
Circle Punch- ½” Marvy Uchida
Markers- Spectrum Noir
Mist- Maya Road
Paper Trimmer
Scissors

Directions:
1. Cut the white 8 ½ x 11” in half lengthwise. Fold one piece into an A2 top folding size card.
2. Use the other piece to stamp the owl and the sentiment. Mask the “s” in the ConGRADulations sentiment before inking and stamping the sentiment onto the white cardstock.

3. Color the owl with alcohol markers. Cut out the image leaving some of the white edge. Spray the image with the glimmer mist and set aside to dry.

4. Measure your gift card and cut out a piece of pattern paper 1 ½” larger in width than the card. Using a bone folder fold the paper around the card. Punch out a half circle on the center of the pocket. Adhere the overlapping edge with some Glue Lines, Glue Dots® adhesive.

5. Run the silhouette part of the “wishes” die cut through the Cuttlebug machine and a pattern paper. Cut the “wishes” word onto the maroon cardstock three times.

6. Spray the back side of the 3 “wishes” cut out with tacky spray. Layer the cuts on top of each other to create the dimensional word. And adhere to the silhouette cut.

7. Cut out a 4 x 5 ¼” piece of pattern paper and adhere to the card front using Glue Lines, Glue Dots® adhesive.
8. Adhere the back side of the gift card pocket onto the card front at an angle using more Glue Lines, Glue Dots® adhesive.
9. Adhere the “wishes” sentiment on the bottom part of the card with more Glue Lines, Glue Dots® adhesive.
10. Add the sentiment strip onto the top part of the “wishes” layered paper with some Glue Lines, Glue Dots® adhesive.
11. Adhere the owl image with a combination of the Glue Lines, Glue Dots® and Pop Up Glue Dots® adhesives.
12. Stamp the “So proud of you!” sentiment onto the inside of the card.

Here's a card and envelope that I created for the blog hop.....

“Dream Big Little Mermaid” card and matching envelope
Designed by: Grace Tolman
Time: Approximately 1 hour
Level: Intermediate
Size:  A2 card size (4 ¼ x 5 ½), Envelope (4 1/3 x 5 ¾)

Notes:  When I saw the mermaid image on the “Let’s Be Mermaids” stamp set, I knew I had to do an underwater card. It just called for it. And with some ink blending technique and marker coloring, I was able to add various layers of coloring to this card using only white cardstock.

Materials
White Cardstock- Earth Tone Cardstock Pack, The Paper Studio
Stamp set- Let’s be Mermaids, CWSD 227, Clearly Whimsy Stamps
Markers- Bold set (1122 BL-6N) and Natural set (1122 BL-6M), Brush lettering, Marvy Uchida
Envelope- Source unknown

Tools:
Ultra Thin, Glue Dots®
Pop Up, Glue Dots®
Removable glue tape, Glue Dots®
Mini dot, Glue Dots®
Ink- Black, Hybrid, My Favorite Things; Embossing,  VersaMark, Tsukineko; Pewter, Mix’d Media, ColorBox; (Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch, Tumbled Glass, Fossilized Amber, Shabby Shutters, Crushed Olive) Distressed Mini Ink cubes, Ranger
Ink Blending tool- Ranger
Stamp Positioning Tool- Tonic Studios
Glimmer mist- Maya Mist, Maya Road
Embossing Powder- Gold, Hampton Arts
Glitter pen- Shimmer pen, Nuvo, Tonic Studios
Die cuts- Card Builder Window Set (WSD 423), Whimsy Stamps; Leaf foliage 1 Die Set (WSD410) Whimsy Stamps
Manual die cut machine- CuttleBug, Provo Craft
1 ¾” punch, EK Success
Paper Trimmer
Scissors

Directions:
1. Cut the 8 ½ x 11 white cardstock piece into two 5 ½ x 8 ½ pieces. Fold one into an A2 card size and set aside.

2. Use the other piece to cut out the frame and the leaf shapes using the respective dies.

3. Using another piece of white scrap cardstock, stamp the mermaid image using the black ink. The stamp positioning tool is best for these kinds of projects so you can get a clear impression by stamping the image 3-4 times without worrying about alignment issues.

4. Color the image with the Marvy Uchida markers. Cut out the image using some scissors. Add some shimmer to the mermaid with the Nuvo shimmer pen. Set aside.

5. Grab the rectangle die cut piece and create a water background. Blend the 3 blue distress ink pads together (Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint sketch, Tumbled glass) using the blending tool and some sponge pads onto the white paper.

6. Spray some glitter mist using the Maya mist and set aside to dry.

7. Place some Removable Glue Tap, Glue Dots® adhesive onto a white scrap of paper. Temporarily adhere the leaves on it and add color to it using the rest of the distress ink cubes and the blending tool. Spray some more glimmer mist if desired.
8. Heat emboss the sentiment on a white scrap of cardstock using some gold embossing powder. Punch out the shape with a 1 3/4 “punch.

9. Assemble the card- Place the “underwater” panel onto the center of the card using some Ultra Thin, Glue Dots® adhesive.

10. Add the underwater foliage on the bottom of the panel using some Mini Dot, Glue Dots® adhesive.

11. Place the mermaid onto the top left side of the card. Adhere with some Pop-Up, Glue Dots® adhesive.

12. Place the sentiment onto the underwater panel using some more Ultra Thin, Glue Dots® adhesive.
13. Stamp the mermaid image onto the front left edge of the envelope with Versamark ink. Heat emboss with gold powder.

So there you have it. I hope this post inspired you to create today.
