Get Funky Challenge 15 - Tags

It's the first of the month so time for another Get Funky! Challenge! This week the lovely Lou is our hostess and the challenge is:

Tags!

If you are stuck for inspiration, look no further than the Get Funky! Challenge Blog - lots of tags to be seen! You have until 30 November to enter and we only have two little rules - follow the challenge and use at least 1 Funky Hand product in your creation! Easy!

I've made a little tag book by using papers from Funky Daze (Son Day collection) and my Sizzix Super Sized Scallop tag (try saying that fast!) The lettering on the front is from my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set.

The little cutie is Harrison who was born on 7 August this year and his Mummy and Daddy you can see here! Harrison is just 6 weeks old on these pics and was quite fascinated, as you can see, by me and my camera! Well, actually, its not my camera - I've got it on loan from my cousin Claire's other half and it is very very swish. And heavy!

I've also used my Nestabilities to create the frames around each photo plus added ribbons and gems here and there.

Ah, this photo is actually 90degrees out. Thanks Mr Blogger!

Good luck and hope you can join us this month and please remember our two little rules - it does make a difference when they are followed!

  • All papers: Son Day collection from Funky Daze by Funky Hand
  • Dies: Sizzix Super Sized Scallop Tag, Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet, Nestabilities
  • Everything else: My stash
  • Baby: Harrison!

New Baby Zig Zag Card

I was asked to make a baby card as the baby, when it arrives, will be their first Grandchild! So no pressure on me! The baby is due any time now and it's this couple who are expecting!

The current ABC challenge is up to letter Z and it is for a:

Zig Zag Card

So here is my zig zag card! Made using almost a full sheet of A4 card, scored to create mountain and valley folds with white vellum overlay that has been embossed with the D'vine Swirls embossing folder.

I've used papers from It's Funky Too and used word art to create the letters and then cut them out. They've been added with foam pads to create a slightly raised look.

All the little die cut embellishments are from the Sizzix Sizzlets baby set with exception to the bundle of joy tag and that came from my stash box.

The flowers are Prima and I've layered them and added a pearl headed brad to the centre. I didn't have enough eyelets in the right colour so I've just left the holes as they are - so it's more natural looking.

The ribbon is from my stash. And I now need some more of this colour and width!

I'm checking my phone for a text every few hours, just in case the baby has arrived! Mind you, I've yet to make a card for it, but think I may wait until I know what it is!!

Changed The Blu-Tac

It's another sketch this week on Papertake Weekly - I do like these sketches as they are nice and simple as I don't like cluttered sketches!

Plus it also means that I can complete the very last page for Hayley and Stephen's acrylic / acetate Wedding album! It's the cake picture and aptly it is the last photo in their album.

Papers are Papermania 12 x 12 Brown Ornate Clusters with added seed beads (I used them on the Wedding Stationery) plus prima flowers, Dovecraft pearl centred brad and ribbon left over from the Stationery too.

And here is the reverse. I kept it plain as it is the back cover plus you get to see some of the lovely paper! I've used a corner rounder on the edges and a bit of chestnut Whispers ink around the edges too. And I've used a different bit of blu-tac this time as Jacob insisted on sticking his halloween spider picture (with 14 legs) to our bedroom door with all the blu-tac he could lay his grubby mits on....
So that is it! Completed! I just have to pack it in a lovely box I got from ebay (it's a Boden box but no writing on it and its a perfect match to the chocolate browns I've used in the album) and then present it to Hayley on Tuesday when I meet up with her. It will be the first time I've seen her since the Wedding as we are both busy ladies, so almost 3 and a half months have flown by! But at least I completed it before their First Wedding Anniversary!
Will be back later in the week with all the shots of the album in one go so you can see it in all it's glory!

Almost There!

This is almost the last page of the acrylic / acetate album for Hayley and Stephen - I just have one more to do which is the back cover (and the page on the reverse), so it's nearly all over!!

That is until I go to another gaggle, clutch, gathering or entanglement of Weddings. Or what ever the proper term is.

Anyway, I could simply not resist the Allsorts challenge this week, as it is:

Weddings!

Perfect! So here are the detail shots I took at Hayley and Stephen's Wedding. Barbara, Hayley's Mum supplied all the flowers and there were loads of them and all totally beautiful! Hayley's bouquet was a really unusual colour.

And the car was Stephen's Step-Dad's - how fantastic (and handy!)

I've used Papermania 'Ornate Brown Clusters' 12 x 12 double sided paper, ribbon remaining from the Wedding Stationery and pins made by me - using seed beads, again left overs and some long thin pearl beads that were actually on my Wedding dress when I did the deed nearly 10 years ago (and Hayley came to our Reception!) Well, they were left overs as my Mum made my dress.
  • Papers: Papermania 12 x 12 double sided 'Brown Ornate Clusters' and Bazzill Basics to layer the photos
  • Everything else: From my stash

Another Page Completed!

Both acrylic / acetate Wedding albums are coming along nicely, and I did like the current Friday Sketchers challenge which is this sketch:

So I've complete another page (two sides) of Hayley and Stephen's album. You'll have to excuse the reflections on the acetate!

The papers again are Papermania 12 x 12 double sided 'Brown Ornate Clusters' along with Bazzill Basics 12 x 12 paper. The ribbon, flowers are brad are all from my stash.

Not many pages left to complete now!

Some More of the Other One

As I now seem to be on a roll with completing the acrylic / acetate Wedding photo album for Hayley and Stephen I am finding more sketches and layout challenges that will fit what my requirements. The current Inspirational Sketches challenge is the following:

And I've created the first page and front cover of the album. Of course I am not doing it all in order - why that would be just too organised and easy for me to follow! Plus some of the photos don't lend themselves too well to certain layouts so I've had to be picky.

And this is the front cover, which after some deliberation, I decided to keep it simple and it's not quite to the sketch, although the above pic is. I've made the pin myself with beads left over from making the Wedding Stationery - the ribbon is too.

The photo has been layered onto Bazzill Basics paper and the printed stuff is 12 x 12 double sided Papermania 'Ornate Brown Clusters' which I've rounded the edges and inked them.

The sentiment stamp is Papermania and was a freebie on a magazine a while ago and has been layered onto Rahyer 12 x 12 card.
Just got 2 more pages (4 sides) to do and then the back cover. Not bad going eh?!

I Remembered!

This time I remembered to remove the green film! I've completed another page (well, two sides) for the Wedding book by using this weeks Sketch Saturday challenge which is:

Sorry about the quality of the photos - taken using the kitchen lights as it was still dark.

Used the same papers as before - Papermania double sided 12 x 12 Brown Ornate Clusters, the photos have been layered onto Bazzill 12 x 12 Carob paper. I've rounded and inked the edges too and the chocolate brown satin ribbon is left over from making the actual Wedding stationery, and too the heart gem.

The chocolate brown flowers are Prima which I bought specifically to make the book and the others were freebies from an overseas website a while ago. I must stop looking at them and use them more! The centres are Papermania brads.

I've not completely followed the sketch as I've missed off the sentiment, but I felt the pages didn't need one.

  • Brown paper: Bazzill Basics 12 x 12 Carob

Remember To Remove The Green Stuff..

I have finally made a start on one of the Wedding memory book thingies that I'm intending to make. We went to 3 Weddings in 6 weeks over the summer with Hayley and Stephen's being the first one.

I've had to make a start as Hayley and I are 'doing lunch' mid November and I fully intend to present her with the finished item! As there are only 8 pages to the thick acetate book, I should be ok.

Anyway, as soon as I saw the Papertake Weekly sketch for this week, I knew I'd cracked one of the pages!
Because it is an acetate book, I heeded the advice of my Funky Hand DT mates and made sure I mirrored the reverse. So here you have two layouts for the price of one!

The papers were a total bargain from a lovely tiny craft shop that was relocating and selling off excess stock - I think a 12 x 12 sheet was 25p. And I just had to buy quite a few at that price. I never know where to start when cutting into such a large sheet, but I didn't have any problems for these!

The paper is Papermania Double Sided - Brown Ornate Clusters (I'm sure they could have dreamt up a more zingy description that that!) and I've used Bazzill Basics 12 x 12 paper Carob to layer the photos.

I had to stamp the sentiment with black ink as my brown just didn't show up well enough. The alphabet stamps are tiny Studio G wooden blocks. The thin chocolate organza ribbon is also from the same craft shop - I bought around 15 metres of it for £1.

Edges have been rounded and then inked with chestnut Whispers. Two layouts, one full page completed - just the rest to do now! So I'm on the lookout for sketches that will work with what I have so don't be surprised if you see more of this album in progress!
Oh, and the reference to the green stuff? Well, the album comes covered with a protective green film. And I almost forgot to remove it before I glued..... I did think that it didn't look right at the time but couldn't work out why......!!
  • Double sided paper: Papermania 12 x 12 double sided - Brown Ornate Clusters
  • Brown paper: Bazzill basics 12 x 12 paper - Carob
  • Images: Taken by me!
  • Ribbon: From my stash
  • Sentiment: Studio G mini wooden alphabet stamps

Hayley & Stephen - 18 July 2009

Yesterday we were at a Wedding. It seems like ages ago Hayley asked me to make her Save the Date cards. Then we finalised the Wedding Invitations, the place cards, Order of Service, table names and table plan. I also made special thank you cards for the Bridesmaids and the ladies who helped her Mum do the flowers. I forgot to take a photo of the table plan and Order of Service, but I have done since!

Anyway, here are some pics from yesterday.

Pimms and lemonade. I'm sure mine had lettuce in and not mint.

And with the bridesmaids.

And the cake. Excuse the colour cast - my battery was on its last legs and I couldn't get the flash to work properly (right depth etc) as SOMEONE had been faffing with the settings, thinking he knew what he was doing......!! Grrr!

Great day and she looks beautiful! And the speeches were the funniest I've ever heard - good timing, funny jokes and just the right length!
Thank you to both Hayley and Stephen for a wonderful day and the very best to you both in your future life together!
