Paper Craft Crew Challenge 385

It's time for another Paper Craft Crew Challenge! What will you come up with?

https://papercraftcrew.com/

The challenge this week is kind of a choose your own ending kind of challenge. I picked Birthday Theme, Watercolor Background, Masculine. Sounds like an awesome challenge to me!

And I made a video! This is my first time using the Brusho watercolor crystals. I have had them for several months, and I am so glad I finally used them!

This card started with the background. I have had Brusho crystal watercolors for several months and never used them. While digging around in my watercolor drawer and noticed them, and thought they should come out to play.
  • I took a 5x7 piece of watercolor paper and taped it down to a hard board. Then I wet it thoroughly with a watercolor paintbrush. And then- sprinkle time! Watch the video for the whole process.

I had also done a scrap of watercolor paper just on my craft sheet, and mopped up the extra color with a piece of cardstock, so I didn't waste any of it. And ended up using the cardstock to make the birthday die cut.

Lot's of cute images from the Lil' Squatch stamp set colored with Copics, and cut out with the coordinating dies.

And sentiments heat embossed with Brutus Monroe Green Night Shift embossing powder.

Head on over to the video for all the coloring and some story time. If you want to play along with the challenge, head on over to Papercraftcrew.com !

Crafty Friends: Essentials by Ellen

Welcome to the monthly Crafty Friends Blog Hop!  We feature a different brand each month, with a limited time COUPON CODE for our viewers. How awesome is that?!

This month, the coupon code is for the Essentials by Ellen line at Ellen Hutson. This is a line of products exclusive to Ellen Hutson, and there is some really cute stuff in it!

Check out this video to see how I used these stamps.

OK, friends- this is a photo heavy post. Hang in there!

The Voices in My Head stamp sets were a bit of an impulse buy, but I cannot resist a snarky stamp set! I am totally going to use this in a sarcastic way for a family member. Our love language is sarcasm and puns!

Now, there is a word bubble die set that coordinates with this set, and I may have to purchase it. But in the mean time, I am using other methods to give that effect. On this card, I created a word bubble with the watercolored background.

The sentiment in Copper heat embossed over the watercoloring. Spatters, of course.

The woman is heat embossed with Brutus Monroe Gold Night Shift embossing powder. I am in love with this stuff. And no, I don't get any commission on Brutus Monroe stuff. I just love several of his products. The Night Shift embossing powders are delicious!!

OK, enough about the embossing powder. The woman is watercolored also, with Daniel Smith and Mijello Mission Gold watercolors.

Inside, more snark in Copper heat embossing.

This card was going to be a clean card. But let's just say anti-static powder tool was not used for partt of the embossing. Doh!

But this card has a slightly less harsh tone. But is still funny as hell! And totally describes me.

The clouds were stenciled on with Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks. If you wanted to use Hero Hues you could use Pool Party, Splash, and Blue Hawaii and get nearly the same palette. This was spritzed with Pearlized water (Perfect Pearl in water in a spray bottle).

I bet you can't even tell there were embossing powder speckles, can you!

The embossing powder used on this card is Blue Night Shift. Sigh, love.

Trinity Slimline Scalloped die, and Concord and 9th Unicorn dies for the cloud edge.

And more clouds and another sentiment on the inside. You like?

That's it this time! Make sure you go do a little shopping- who can resist a coupon?!

Christmas in July: Cute Critters

Here we go again, more Christmas! Are you sick of it yet? I sure hope not, cuz we are only half way through the month 😁

Are you ready for more Christmas? Well, buckle up! The #craftyfestivalfriends are at it again with a new mini series of hops. This time it is Christmas in July, with a hop every Friday (starting July 10th) with a different Christmas theme each time.

The theme this week is Cute Critters. There are so many adorable critters to use for Christmas, and I love an excuse to pull them out. ETA: here is the video I managed to finish!

It turns out I don't have a whole lot of Christmas critter stamps in my stash that aren't already retired. So this My Favorite Things set from last fall came out to play. It is really a a fall themed set, but hey. Adaptation!

These critters are colored with Copics. And the background is ink blended with Ripe Persimmon, Abandoned Coral, and Festive Berries Distress Oxides.
I used a stencil and glitter gel for the snow and stars.  See the supply list below for which ones.

And I just can't have a naked card on the inside, sot stenciling it is!

The rest of the blog roll is at the end of this post, so don't forget to check it out.

Papercraft Crew Challenge #384

Spellbinders and Trinity Stamps

Time to use up some of that ugly paper in my stash! And the Paper Craft Crew is going to help me out!

http://papercraftcrew.com/

Every week on Wednesday, the Paper Craft Crew has a new challenge to inspire you! This is challenge #384 - a sketch!

There is a video showing the entire card making process, and a little bit of story time- check it out!

I used a couple of the Spellbinders monthly subscription kits: June 2020 Glimmer of the Month and June 2020 Small Die of the Month.  A match made in heaven! I love the endless possibilities with the layering flowers, and the beautiful script of the sentiment from the Glimmer plates.

The ugly paper I am using up is a retired Stampin' Up! cardstock called Summer Starfruit. It isn't a horrible color, it just has a slight green undertone that makes it really difficult to use with other colors. I remember calling it baby poop yellow!

To help make it easier to use, I ink blended over the colored cardstock with Distress Oxide through a stencil. This color is the Cameron created color- Carved Pumpkin reinked with Spiced Marmalade. Actually a great combo! By ink blending an orange ink over the cardstock, it really brings out the yellow.

Get a close look at those flowers all la

I used a few Trinity Stamps Glass Beach and Glass Slipper embellishments scattered across the card front.

And, you guessed it! I stenciled on the inside of the card. Why wouldn't I?! And this is a 5x7 card, because. Just because.

I hope you liked it! Leave me a comment, please. I love to hear from you!

Christmas in July: Mass Production

The Crafty Festival of Friends are at it again! We kinda like Christmas, if you couldn't tell. We are going to do an entire month of Christmas! Each week will have a different Christmas theme.

This week, we are doing Mass production friendly designs.

These are actually cards I made in December of 2018, and some of them have already been used for that Christmas season. I really wish I could remember who I sent them too, so I don't send them the same-ish card again next year. 😆

I used the Concord and 9th Winter Wear stamp set, Snow Flurry die, and the Snowflakes Turnabout.

Let's start with the inside. (I apologize for the crappy lighting here. What can I say. Light is in poor supply in Minnesota winters. And I have been saving this project for the perfect time)

This is one turn with the Snowflakes Turnabout in Sahara Sand stamped off once, and a sentiment from the Winter Wear set stamped in full strength Sahara Sand.

Now, I want a little crazy coloring these ladies. I had just finished purchasing nearly every single Copic marker color made a couple months before. I was building my skills using them, and concentrating on skin tones and hair color. Bear with me, there are 12 different ladies here!

This is Brunette #1. I don't know which colors for sure. She has a bit of a caramel brown going on with her toasty brown skin tone. A bit Beyonce'!

Brunette #2 is a little darker in the hair, and a lot lighter in the skin.

Brunette #3 has more highlights, and has a bit of an Asian skin tone, I think.

Brunette #4 has some rosie cheeks!

Black hair #1 has a bit of a blue undertone to the hair. And the first deep skin tone.

Black hair #2 is very similar.

Red head #1 looks like Ireland, all the way!

Red head #2 does not agree with the thought that redheads can't wear pink!

Golden blonde turned out nice. Or is this strawberry blonde? You tell me!

Platinum blonde #1 would almost get lost in a snowbank!

Platinum blonde #2 is a little darker.

That was a whole lotta heads!

I feel like making more holiday cards already, how about you?!

The rest of the blog roll is at the end of this post, so don't forget to check it out.
