Care package from friends!

tesla here! Wednesday night, while hansel was in the hospital,
we received a care package from our friends Mack & Sally Ann.
It was fantastic!
Because when hansel got home on thursday night, mom let us all open it!

Hansel gets ready for this great treat!

"Dear hansel,
Please feel better. We are sending eskie hugs and welsh kisses just for you"
Hansel was so happy!

The card was purrfect! look at hansel pretending to be really hurty.
(he was actually STILL taking a bath...)

WOW! look at all that stuff!

Hansel FINALLY gets the hint, when mom puts all the gifts that are marked hansel right at his furry little belly.

WOW! that's all MY stuff!

I have to make sure the box is safe. And all the contents have been emptied and put at the right animals feets.

Look at ben's stuff!
that bird is GIGANTIC!

Hansel couldn't get in the box before, so mom turned it on it's side for him.

This was much better.
she opened all the toys for hansel, and removed all the tags.

She brought all MY toys out into the other room so i could play with them.

I'm not going to play while you're watching mommeh.

Hansel inspects his new toys.

Ben LOVES his new bird!

hansel looks forward to really being healthy enough to walk and run and jump- so that he can play like he used to.

mom keeps telling him, it's only a matter of time!

We are so glad we did the surgery! thanks to all of you telling us to do what we felt was right! mom is so happy!

Thanks again to mack and sally ann for these wonderful gifts!!

also, have you voted for todays Mango Minster Contestant?

It's not a long video, but this is of the first night when he came home. Already up. We have to be careful after he gets his pain meds at night, he thinks he can REALLY move around.

We also had to put a cone on his head because he goes after his sutures.

btw, Hansel could use your vote today over at the Mango Minster Dog Contest! for the cat dog category!

Welcome Home Hansel

Our femoral heads:

I was very excited when dr. p told me i could keep them.
The green counter is our surgery counter.
People thought i was strange for wanting them. Some of them anyway.

Home. Ben sits next to his brother like nothing happened.
Tesla is afraid of hansel since he returned, and won't go near.
The few times she did, she hissed at him. Not horrible evil hisses, but little hisses,
that made me feel even worse for hansel. He was just trying to kiss his sister whom he loves so very dearly.

Here is our little man.
These are all from last night.

Not the best angle of the boy,
but here he is, our lion.

Nice sutures.

When mom got to work yesterday, dr. p had him out to make sure he was walking.
He RAN down the hallway and under a desk.
So yes, hansel is walking.
We hope to get a video to show all of you exactly how fantastic he is doing.

He is very lovey, and happy to be home. he's doing so well.

playing with camera strings....

All this trouble and pain,
from these two TINY bone fragments.

As for the dark spot on the xray, it most definitely is there, and upon further investigation--- was ALSO there on the first xray we took. It's location however, is untouchable. So, basically, we wait to see what will happen with it. It can't be removed, because its right smack in the middle where the muscles and ligaments and tendons hold the bone to the body.
We just have to hope nothing happens to it.

But, right now, we'll worry about getting him all healed up.

Thankful Thursday.

I just wanted to say this morning how thankful i am to ALL of you in the cb, how wonderful everyone has been- to all that have sent purrs, prayers, donations, everything. We love each and every one of you. We will respond to all comments- it just might take us some time. But we will!

I saw the technician that was with hansel in surgery, last night. Unfortunately it was because we were delivering food to a friend who's family member just passed- so we cooked for her and brought some food over. Tonight is the viewing- so after bringing hansel home- hopefully he and his dad can catch up some, and i will go to the viewing for a few minutes.

Anyway- the tech told me that Hansel did so well for his surgery, and last night when dr. p went to check on him, he nudged her hand with his head. And when they pulled him out to cap off his catheter (he was on iv fluids for the surgery because he was under for a while) he was loving on everyone and wanting to be loved. So that's an excellent sign.

I also received a text from dr. p at 930ish last night, when she was doing night check, that he was doing well. :) that helped me to sleep.

i can't wait to bring him home.

I can't understand- as far as this 'dark odd spot'- how it can NOT be there on morning xrays, and was there for the after surgery xrays? I just don't get it. It's the same day! How can it change! We are going to do xrays again in a month- to make sure that he's alright, and to see if it was a glich or a new problem. I'm very nervous and scared, and i know i shouldn't worry until we know, but how am i not supposed to worry about a dark spot on his leg?

Especially considering what the last dark spot did to him. However, if the dark spot is real, i don't think it's a part of the Legg Perthes. This would be something new on top of that. The legg perthes is fixed.

They kept the femur pieces to show me. :) It's silly, and some people aren't like this, but i think it's very cool to see things like that. I doubt my husband would want to see, but i do.

So hansel will be coming home tonight, and i will share photos with you all either tonight or tomorrow.

thanks to all of you for showing us so much love. We really needed it- and it means the world.

All clear?

At 300 i called the clinic after not hearing anything still- and he had JUST gotten out of surgery. That's 3 hours that he was under. They retook xrays again- and she got all the bone part out that we were trying to get out.

She said he did very well and was waking up. My poor cat. :(

She said however, there is a lot of femur on the one leg that 'looks odd'. She can't remove anymore though- because all the muscles for the leg (that are holding the leg ON the body) are attached to that part. It can't be taken. So, we have to re xray again in a few months to see what he's doing. He'll be monitored for a while. I don't know how often we'll have to xray him. But she sounded concerned.

But i will get to see my little boy tomorrow morning first thing.

I can't believe that he was walking on two broken hips. Can you imagine a person doing that? No we complain and are terrible when we hurt- and look at these animals, that prove time and time again how amazing they are. He never cried after that first one- even though he must've been hurting- he got up and walked on two broken legs. I had no idea he broke the other one - except he had been laying around a little more again- and i told dr. p, he wasn't doing as well and i had suspicions but he wasn't acting like he hurt. He'd walk. He used the litterbox. He did everything. It must've been within the last 2 days though, because that's why i noticed the laying around more.

If i hear anything else tonight i'll let you know right away. But you probably won't see anything new until tomorrow night- and i'll try to take some shots of him being home.

Thanks to everyone who left purrs and prayers- please continue while he recovers. I owe you all so very much for it.

Half way.

This morning i took hansel in for his surgery, and they re-x rayed his hips. The other one is broken. legg perthes. I can't understand- i don't .... i just don't understand. This cat was fine 3 weeks ago, today, he has broken hips.

So much for the specialist- my vets were right all along.

I okayed the bi-lateral fho- meaning, now we fix both while he's under.

He went under at 1210 ish, and i just got a call at 130 letting me know the first leg is done. So that mean my price will increase for my surgery as well. Poor hansel. He is shaved from the mid down, however his fluffy tail is still alright.

I will post when i get the call from the vet that the second leg is done.

I'm so upset and miss my baby. :(

Now to sit and wait for the call. At least we're half way there. They tell me the second leg goes much faster because the dr. is in the 'groove' of it- making it easier to get things working and done.

keep your eyes out for the update.
