1970s Vintage Citizen Alarm Date 3102 "Fashion"

Introducing
Citizen Alarm Date 3102 "Fashion"
Circa 1970s

For those who saw my Seikomatic Weekdater post and wanted in on something unapologetically handsome, here's an offer that you might not want to miss out on.

A polished black dial, with patina hour markers and nice shiny dauphine hands and a short arrow alarm hand. And this one doesn't come with the boring lugs of the Seiko either.

Alarm watches are a very nice novelty to own and operate. For those who own Seiko Bell-Matics, you'll be glad to know that the Citizen mechanical alarm movement sounds a whole lot louder, comparable to the legendary Vulcains.

Unlike vintage Vulcains however, the Citizen Alarm Date is more suited to today's watch sizes, and wouldn't look out of place on a modern wrist.

Two large crowns wind the barrels that power the movement and the 20 second alarm manually, and with something that large it's really easy to wind up on the go without having to take your watch off the wrist (not really recommended, but worth noting nonetheless).

Add in the cyclops date glass, and you've got yourself something serious enough to be fun at the same time.

1970s Vintage Mido NOS Multi Star "Emerald"

Introducing
Mido NOS Multi Star "Emerald"
Circa 1970s

So named because of the rich green dial, this new-old stock Mido is stunning to look at with its sharp edges and high polished shine.

The most noticeable being the bracelet, its polished surface gleaming at every angle, making photography rather tedious.

Like uncut stone, the bracelet presents itself in right angles and straight lines. The rock solid exterior might turn some off, calling it sharp and raw, but for those who look for the uncommon, the bracelet of the Emerald is quite hard to come by.

The green sunburst dial also comes as a surprise, a faint glow emanating from the centre of the dial, graduating into a deep green ring of color around enveloping the three-dimensional hour markers.

The acrylic crystal domes slightly over the dial, encasing the gem alongside the tv-shaped stainless steel case.

1970s Vintage Mido NOS Commander "Sea" and "Air"

Introducing
Mido NOS Commander "Sea" and "Air"
Circa 1970s

One has to guess why they named these very dressy wristwatches "Commander".

Keeping along with theme, I've named them Sea and Air respective to the elements portrayed in their dials.

New old stock, with sticks still on, the Sea and Air come in a nice oversized cushion case, two-tiered dial depicting a vast emptiness in its center - kind of like what the sea and the air are like I guess.

Time telling would be an issue here, what with no visible hour markers besides the crosshair at 12, 3, 6, and 9'O.

What I get from these is a sense of emptiness, the plain dials the emphasis after the broad polished bracelet draws your attention.

Get lost in time, your gaze upon its dial, hours and minutes lost.

Vintage Golet One-Jewel NOS Manual Wind "Pebble"

Introducing
Golet One-Jewel NOS Manual Wind "Pebble"
Circa Unknown

Here's something for those who like to listen the watch tick.

One-jewel watches employ the use of pin levers to keep the balance wheel in check. These pin levers were used before the pellet fork came in, offering a cheap alternative to the jewelled offering.

This was exceptionally common before cost-effective fabrication of ruby jewels for movement plates were possible. The infamous One-Dollar-Watch of the past is revived in the Pebble.

While time-keeping might be a problem, the one saving grace of the one-jewel watch is the extremely loud ticking of the watch as the pin level catches the escapement wheel.

The Pebble is NOS placed in nicely gold colored stainless steel cases, with various two-tiered fashion dials.

Wind them up, watch them go, listen as the seconds pass.

Can't get any better.
