Synopsis:
Patient Twenty-nine.
A monster roams the halls of Soothing Hills Asylum. Three girls dead. 29 is endowed with the curse…or gift of perception. She hears messages in music, sees lyrics in paintings. And the corn. A lifetime asylum resident, the orchestral corn music is the only constant in her life.
Mason, a new, kind orderly, sees 29 as a woman, not a lunatic. And as his belief in her grows, so does her self- confidence. That perhaps she might escape, might see the outside world.
But the monster has other plans. The missing girls share one common thread...each was twenty-nine's cell mate.

Well, I go in fads. I am currently in love with Diana Gabaldon. Fangirling all over that OUTLANDER.
There is a game afoot. A terrifying game. Women are disappearing. Never to be seen again. The board is threatening to close it down, lest the killer be caught. The thread…each one was Patient Twenty-Nines roommate. Each time, scrolled on the wall of her room, above her bed are the words, “Help me, I know not what I do.”

An amalgamation of Mr. Rochester and Jaime Frazier.
What do you find yourself “Fangirling” over?
Well, I go in fads. I am currently in love with Diana Gabaldon. Fangirling all over that OUTLANDER.
If you could meet one author, dead or alive, who would it be?
Sorry—have to differentiate. Alive-Gabaldon.
Dead—Jane Austen…or Charlotte Bronte…or Louisa May Alcott…or Poe…somebody stop me.
Something to say to our Book Addicts?
I love books as much as you. I can recall different phases of my life by what book I was reading at the time. I started reading adult books in fifth grade and have never looked back!! Now I have to do a lot of audio because my life is very very insane, and it is the only way to get my literary fix!
Could you tell our Book Addicts a little bit about The Requiem Red?
The Requiem Red is about a girl, incarcerated at the age of three, for hearing voices—mostly in music. She is a virtuoso, plays cello and violin. Birds…visit her. Crows and rooks and ravens and bluebirds flock to her window at the aslum.
Can you tell our readers a bit about Soothing Hills Asylum and what’s happening there?
How did you come up with the story? Did you find inspiration in any other story/movie/show and how has this affected your writing?
I always go on historical tours as inspiration—for this book I toured Trans Allegheny lunatic asylum twice.
My stories usually arrive when two strange ideas decide to marry in my brain. For this book, it was, “What would be the fate of people with synesthesia in the 1700 and 1800’s?” The answer. They would be deemed mad.
Tell us your favorite quote from The Requiem Red.
My hero speaks Scottish Gaelic. He gives Jane a gift with an inscription.
“Misneach? What does that mean?”
“It means, courage. It means, you.”
Is there a specific scene that you had the most fun to write?
Mason sneaks Jane out of the asylum to ice skate. The two of them playing together on the ice was a ball to write. Also the scene where Soothing Hills monster tracks Jules through the asylum…in the tunnels.
If you had to pick one song to be the Theme Song for The Requiem Red – Which one would you pick?
As Jane is a violinist and cellist—I am going to have to go with….
This is a local Pittsburgh group of rock cellists. I think it captures her anger, passion and frustration.

Is there any recommendations you could give your readers to be in the “perfect mood” to read The Requiem Red (specific music, snacks…)?
Be in the mood for romance, fear and perhaps some sadness and anger for Jane—which I hope will translate into routing for her to fight to change her life. I always recommend tea, hot chocolate or coffee. And fuzzy foot warmers to post on Instagram for #socksunday of course.
What’s next for you?
I am hard at work on BONESEEKER 2; Here Walk the Dead and Book 2 of Requiem Red; Black in Time.
Then it is nose to the literary grindstone for ONCE UPON A SIDESHOW (YA). Beyond that are: MONSTER (Historical romance) and PETRIFIED (YA).
