Gilbert - Food & Other Stuff

We went for something to eat at the museum restaurant.
They had this cool T-Rex who guarded the butter.

I got a musgroom sandwich and soup.

And a dinosaur shaped box with candy!

After we ate we visited the LiveScience room.
Here you can see how the scientists do their work, try things yourself, and learn more about the history of the museum and the research they do.

We didn't try anything, but looked around at all the stuff they had on display in this room.

These... were kind of creepy, especially as we had just read a horror book where there was a scene with lots of ladybugs that was... unsettling.

Butterflies.

Then it was time to find our hotel and get some rest.

We walked past this building.
I think it used to be part of the hospital.

We checked in at the hotel and took it easy for a few hours: reading and resting.

In the evening we went into town for a drink.
I saw this mill on the way to the cafe.

After a drink (or 2) we got food and then went back to the hotel.

The next morning I woke up in a field of flowers.

Just kidding!
This picture was in our hotel room.

Which had a window looking out on the hallway, btw.
Very strange.

After breakfast we checked out of the hotel.
We went to my owner's appointment and afterward we took a 3 hour trip back home.

I had a lot of fun!

Books, Goodies, and a Candy Pig

We received a book-filled package from Jeffe!
There was a Taylor Swift CD for our owner.

For our owner & Voodoo Bride there were signed print copies of the Falling Under series.
(Voodoo Bride says they're completely Delicious and Hot!)

There was a beautiful copy of A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher.
(Sullivan almost bought a paperback copy during our birthday shopping trip, but it was really pricey in the bookstore we visited, so he decided to get something less pricey instead.)

It's signed!

The cover underneath the dust cover is really cool as well.

And just look at those end-pages!

Sullivan will read it soon.

There was also a copy of another book Sullivan was lusting after:
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst.
Sullivan loves her Queens of Renthia series, so he really wants to read this as well.

We couldn't get it to show in ur pictures, but it has light purple edges.

And there was a book by Carrie Vaughn.
Sullivan hadn't heard about this book, but he has read other books by her, so he's very interested in this as well.

And it's signed as well!
(And it has a cool stamp.)

Last, but not least:
Swag from Diana Rowland!
Her White Trash Zombie series is so good, says Sullivan. So he will totally treasure this cool swag.

Thanks, Jeffe!

In other news: Our owner got me a candy pig.

Isn't it  cool?!

Almost too pretty to eat.

High Tea

We were invited to a High Tea last Sunday.

There were lots of yummy things to eat.

We had a great time trying out all the food, drinking tea, and chatting with the other people who were there.

Thanks for inviting us, K.

Big Birthday Post

It was our birthday on Thursday!
There were birthday garlands and birthday pie, but I forgot to take a picture of the pie.

We got to open Miki's birthday package!

What a cool piggy birthday card.

There was a small present, which turned out to be a Mass Effect key chain.

And what's this big box?
It had Garrus on it, our favorite character from Mass Effect.

It's a Garrus statue!

Just look how detailed it is!

Thank you, Miki!

In the afternoon we went into town and were allowed to shop for our presents by my owner's Other Half. We managed to find a lot, more on that later.

After our shopping we had something to drink at one of our favorite cafés.

Next we walked to our favorite restaurant.
We encountered a penguin on the way.

Looks like penguins were some kind of mascot for the annual music festival that takes place on or near our birthday.

And here I am at the 5 Smaken!
(5 tastes)

They have the most delicious food, and you can pick what you want to eat in an app, and get it served at your table. Like this spicy soup.

And Sushi!

I also had a birthday Wasabini!

As we walked back home after dinner I took pictures of the Martini Tower.

More music festival stuff.

It was an amazing afternoon and evening.
Back home it was time to drool over our birthday loot.

Sullivan got 5 new books.
He's especially happy with The Wizard of the Pigeons, he once borrowed it and loved it, so is very happy with his own copy for his collection.

I got two books to draw in, and fineliners to do it with.

The day after our birthday two more packages arrived!
These were not for our birthday, but related to the important thing from December, but I will include them in this birthday post anyway.

The first was from G. the owner of Hammie.

A handmade book with blank pages to write or draw in!
Isn't it gorgeous?!

Soon G. will sell her beautiful handmade books at Prettig Papierwerk

Close up of the cover and the handmade heart note she sent with it.

There's even my owner's name on the bookmark cord!
Thanks G.

The other package took a long time to get here.
It was even in France where it was opened up by curious customs workers to see what was inside.

It's from Dana Cameron!
She sent us a magazine, chocolat, candy, and a fun opossum sticker.

Sullivan is eager to read Dana's contribution to the magazine!
Thank you, Dana!

So all in all we were spoiled this last week.
Thanks for everyone who contributed in making this birthday week awesome!
