nail art

i have a friend, let's call her elle l. cool jam, who is a nail art extraordinaire. this past weekend, all the boyfriends and husbands were gone for a bachelor party so elle invited the girls over for a little nail art party. of course we all said, "heck yes!" i am terrible at painting my own nails (the last attempt took two days and the results were questionable) so any time that i can get my nails done is a real treat.

elle has the sweetest, friendliest kitties in the world. they hung out with us and kept us company.

 and my tuxedo nail! the little bow tie just kills me. seeing it just makes me all happy and smiley. i can feel a new addiction growing. it doesn't help that pinterest is filled with amazing inspiration. i totally have my eye on this design.

swim?

it's way too early to think about beaches and swimming but it's another cold, gray day in boston and i'd like to imagine being back in cancun staring at the ocean with my toes buried in the sand in a pretty bathing suit. i'm loving all the super cute one piece suits that are popping up everywhere. i definitely want to trade in my uncomfortable bikini for one of these!

down the rabbit hole in a blue dress

i saw the new alice in wonderland over the weekend and though it wasn't anything life changing, i really enjoyed it.  what really caught my eye was alice's wardrobe.  i'm so glad they didn't put her in her typical blue dress/white pinafore combination.  her dresses were darker, more gothic, more elegant, but still that iconic alice blue.

rainy cloudy week

it's been uber gloomy this week but i don't mind too much. i realized yesterday that i enjoy walking in the rain. maybe it has something to do with my new rain boots (rain boots = dry toes and pants) or my polka dot umbrella. or maybe it's because the air felt refreshing or since i was one of only five people out and about, it was an especially peaceful walk. the wind is picking up now and it's bringing a great breeze into the apartment. could it be that spring is on its way?

oh la la feathers!

lately, i've really been drawn to feathers. especially feather & flower hair ornaments. like these from forever21

these are super affordable but what fun is buying them when you can make them? the martha stewart crafts blog did a great little piece about handmade feather headbands that got me itching to go out and buy some feathers. i especially loved this one.

i wish i could wear these everyday but i dress like a bum to work and it might look a little odd with jeans, tshirt with a guitar growing a tree and pumas :) so i guess i'll just have to make some gifts for my girls. hope you like feathers as much as i do!
