My Sweet Valentine

Well, on Vtines Day, I woke up early and poached a couple eggs for Mr.Toddlerwhisperer...he was shocked because I am usually fast asleep when he leaves for work, but I was inspired by Lucy over at Attic24 to try poaching eggs her style. Which happens to be quite fabulous.

I mentioned to Mr.TW that I didn't need any chocolates or flowers, but if he really had to get me a gift to go to the thrift store and find me some Pyrex. You laugh? I was serious.

He was late coming home, so I knew he was out there, "junkin'" as he would say...and I was pleasantly surprised when the door finally swung open...and...there he stood with a bag from Trader Joes. Um...that's not pyrex. He handed each munchkin a chocolate toffee bar, and a box of Cocoa Truffles he bought for me, along with a bottle of the most amazing(ly cheap and tasty) bubbly pink wine. (Boy was that DELICIOUS with the truffles) and I loved that he only spent $9 for the champagne bubbly wine AND the melt in your mouth truffles.

But the best part was when he went back out to the car and brought in a couple bags from Goodwill!! Pyrex!!! No...even cooler!! He found this set of four dinner plates, four salad plates, and four soup bowls looking for a new home for only$9.99. I've taught him well. :)

And try as I may, I cannot find anything like them on the web. I've looked at Anchor Hocking glass, at Federal Glass, Indiana Glass...If you happen to know this pattern or glassmaker will you leave me a comment?
It looks blown and the edges are uneven.

So, my sweet man did really well for me. I couldn't have asked for anything more! :) How was your Valentine's day? Get anything interesting?

He Knows My Name

So I've been kinda in a funk lately, but God used my little kitty to show me love.
She never ever ever gets on my bed (not allowed) but when I went to bed last night, she begged to come up...she cuddled right up next to me, put her little head on my chest and purrrrrrrrred. Reminds me of Israel Houghton's song a few years ago "I Am Not Forgotten"

inspired

a virtual friend of mine posted a picture of shelves filled with yarn stacked upon each other...probably in a store somewhere. i loved it.

soon after, i was showing my mom my newly improved craft room. she said i should have shelves in there. i thought about it, and remembered this post with the picture of the shelves. i asked my dad if he would build me some shelves. he went to Home Depot and found some closet cubby shelves premade, and he installed them in my craft room!!

and I filled them!!
yummy. now i can see which yarns i have, need and want to work with.
yay!!

Yarn junkie...

Okay, so I am working on something so cute right now I can hardly stand it. I'm using these yarns right here...and no, it's not a dishcloth, scrubbie, potholder...or anything else your mind goes to when you see cotton yarn.
I bought a grab bag (okay two) from Peaches n Creme a couple weeks ago, and got a couple balls of this lemon lime yarn. I saw summer right away!! My mind has been reeling.. in fact, I could hardly sleep last night because I was putting together my little project in my head.
I'll give you a clue...it's for my daughter.
So, what do you think it could be??

Happy Valentine's day!!

To ME!!! I kid, I kid. This was our big Valentine's Eve purchase. I had been duct taping my lint catcher into the cracked lint catcher holder for each load in my old dryer, and finally on Thursday, a blanket caught onto the holder, pulled it away from the dryer and pretty much ruined it. We needed a new one anyway, ours was 7 yrs old in January and the quality was definitely lacking. We just bought the dryer yesterday and in a couple weeks we will go and by a new washer too. The place was awesome because they are liquidator, and this was a $1000 retail dryer, and we paid $350...not too shabby!!
A look onto our piano top...
The Valentine bears I made the kids this weekend. I used Lionbrand's Bear in a Jiff pattern.. I think every Valentines day, I want to make the kids something special...we also gave them a book each, and a new shirt...I think this will be our Valentine tradition.
I was suckered into teaching the 2 &3 year olds at church today...this works out because both my babes are in that class...we made these "Valentines" with the verse John 3:16.
Later we are making cookies and having a surf 'n turf dinner here at home, some organic, grass fed steaks and prawns. I love spending time with my little family...hope you are having a beautiful day as well!!

Sharin' the Love

As I have begun following more and more blogs, it occurred to me that I will sometimes just steal a peek at the blog and leave...the writer had no idea I even stopped in to glimpse into their world. I also thought about how much I love to check out my bloggity blog and read the comments left by others. For the rest of the month, I am going to challenge myself to comment on every blog I read. Wanna join me in sharin' the love?

Happy Birfday

To me. Last Tuesday...Those were my birthday week flowers I bought on Monday I believe, they were totally saggin in this pic I took Sunday. Had a sweet day with the kids and went out to eat at one of my favorite places when the hubs got home later that day.

My parents came over and my dad was the sweetest thing, he made me a birthday cake and we shared some of that before we went out to dinner! Then, they suprised me with this wonderful gift:

That's right...a sewing machine!! I am so stoked!! Okay, and a lil bit intimidated...it's still in the box. But soon my friends, very soon...I will be um. learning how to thread it. :) Thanks Mom and Dad!

Happy Mother's Day

Here it is my third Mother's Day. I can't believe how lucky I am to be the Mother of two beautiful, wonderful, funny, silly, sweet, smart babes. Here's a little trip down my motherhood journey.
1 wk before little man arrived

3 days before little lady made her appearance

I love these babes with all my heart and truly hope to instill in them a sense that they can do anything they set their mind too, that they are valued enough to keep their standards high, and that they will never settle for mediocrity in their choice of friends, schools, jobs, and spouses. I never want them to feel like their wings are clipped to where they are not able to soar to the heights and purposes that God has for them, and I want them to know they are always loved and treasured, but never feel squeezed so tightly in my grasp that they feel suffocated.
I have the sacred and wonderful responsibility of raising these wonderful little people..on loan to me, by God. And my prayer on Mother's Day is that He would help me to bring them up in the best way I can.
Happy Mommas day to all the Mothers in my life.

Lovey Dovies..or How Tweet Part Duex

Here are my two birdies sitting on their box... I freaked them out a little bit by being outside with a two year old. Okay I didn't freak them out, I think it was JUST the two year old. But I love these little doves.

A Pocket full of Lovies

I usually have neither the time, nor the energy to create a special Valentine for mine...I usually just do the commercialized thing...
Not this year!! My new and improved crafty self went all out!! Yesterday it was melting dark chocolate pieces to dip fresh strawberries in, and today...while hubby was at work, it was finishing his special V-day card!!
I made a very simple card with some very simple hearts...ya know the ones from elementary school where you fold the paper and cut out the heart? I made a pocket in the heart on the inside. I printed out a list of things I love about my Honey, and cut those into strips. On the end of the strips I glued more of the simple hearts and arranged them in the pocket. I am so excited for him to come home from work and read each little love line...Some are silly, some are sweet...

To all of you, hope your day is special. Lots of love to you!!

XOXOXO me
