Ups and down.

I missed the fit/fluffy update last week because I was in orientation for my new job. I had gained a bit so I wasn't super sad I didn't get to post.

Yesterday in the weigh in I had lost a pound. Not as much as I would have liked / should have lost but it's a loss which is the correct direction.

Today I got my eyes dilated for an eye exam. It feels very weird and it's frustrating that I can't see very well right now. I couldn't do the elliptical for more than ten minutes. I'm going walking later tonight with FIL Ashley. That makes a whole work out, right?

Oh, I have better than 20/20 vision. Boo yah!

Saying "I'm sorry" doesn't make it ok.

Or acceptable. Like when you change a diaper in the breakroom at work.

I'm not strung out, just new

I got a new job. For this new job I got a TB test placed on Monday on my left arm. I also had blood drawn to see if I've really never had the chicken pox. (If I haven't I'll have to get a vaccination. Bleh.) Tuesday I gave platelets. The phlebotomist infiltrated my left arm which was where the TB test was placed. So we used my right arm, where the blood was drawn for the chicken pox test.

An infiltrated vein means the needle went through my vein and I got a nice briuse. It only hurts when the blood returns, minus the platelets of course. In all my times donating blood (just over ten years) It's happened just twice to me. Donating blood is still a good thing and I'll be doing it again in a couple of weeks.

My arms look like I'm seriously using. I'll take a pic tonight.

Down 3.2 oz

Yesterday was Why Weight. This week the speaker gave us a new formula to find our target heart rate. Turns out I have been working below even 65% of my max. This week I'll focus on getting to that and then a little higher next week.

I lost .2 pounds over the week. I'm going to say that's probably because I went with an emptier tummy but I'll still take the .2 loss over a .2 gain.

As of yesterday I have about 28 pounds to get to the ideal weight my dietician gave me. And I really think I can get there. It will just take time. Ideally I'd like to be there by early March. Then for my birthday I could get new clothes!

As always, I'm open to suggestions on how to do this. If you've found something that's worked for you or didn't work for you please let me know.

That other Twilight book

I recently read Breaking Dawn. Is it weird that I pictured Bella as Miley Cyrus in the first half and then as Anne Hathaway in the second? I thought so, too.

It was a good, light read. I won't read it again but I'm not sad that I spent the better part of four evenings ignoring Jeremy, housework, and the gym.

Have you guys read it? What did you think?

I'm more fluffy these days.

Yesterday after work I went to Why Weight?, a program offered through Mayo Clinic’s gym, The Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. The intranet describes the class as a weight management series that meets all Mayo Clinic employees right where they are on their wellness journey. The program offers weekly weigh-ins, group discussion and skill building. Topics discussed include goal setting, keys to successful behavior change, healthy eating habits, fitness and stress reduction.

So I got weighed yesterday. It wasn’t as bad as I thought though I have gained a bit more than I would have liked since I got married. I think losing five pounds the week before (I got sick) and then moving here and not having a job, friends, or anywhere to go for nearly three months added to that. It’s going to take a while to get it to come off.

I’ll be going every Monday and it will be nice to be accountable for my weight again. I’ll try to post each Tuesday how the previous meeting went. And, if I get brave, I’ll post what I gained/lost and, maybe, what my current and goal weights are.

Anyone have any advice or encouragement for me?

Knee high happiness.

I went to SockDreams.com and visited their clearance room. I got these. I got them in pearl and mist gray. I'm wearing the mist gray right now. Heaven. And there's no shipping costs. So they're really just $5 (no tax, either). This site rocks.

Feel free to look around, check it out. I wanted to get Wendy the socks with whales on them. I thought they would be fitting. (Pun on whales intended, fitting was not.) They are, as of right now, out of stock. Sad.
