Surgery Day

We have had a bunch of snow here in New York.  We live about 150 northwest of the city, so it's a bit colder here and higher up.  We got about a foot of snow on Monday.  So while my husband was out clearing snow from driveways, I went into my scrapping room and created a layout.

It's been a long time nsince I've gotten crafty after work.  I really loved this week's sketch and Let's Scrap.  They always have sketches with so many photo options.

I wanted to document my granddaughter's surgery, so those photos seemed perfect for this sketch.  I used MAMBI's Baby Girl collection.  This is page 1.....

And this is page 2....

Sorry for the glare on the pictures.  I haven't set up my photography set up yet.  I need to get my room squared away.  This is both pages together.

Thanks so much for looking.  I am really enjoying creating again.  Stop by again to see what else I create.

Santa

For my last layout for the 2013 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin, I wanted to use some photos I took of the dogs this year with a Santa figurine.  The current sketch at Let's Scrap was just the ticket.

I only wanted to use the Santa photos, and I didn't quite have enough to fill all the spots in the sketch.  But the extra spaces worked well for journaling and added embellishments.

Here's a closer look at the first page....

And the 2nd page.  The puppy is almost 4 1/2 months old.  She is starting to listen better and is posing much better.

This was my 3rd year doing the 52 Week Challenge at SnC.  I had to use 2 passes this, which I am a little disappointed with.  It's been a real tough year though, and I am very happy that I was able to complete the challenge.

This page is being entered into a few other challenges as well:
Lasting Memories - Here Comes Santa Claus
Frosted Designs - My Favorite Things

Raindrops on ROSES and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen MITTENS;
BROWN PAPER  packages tied up with STRINGS;
These are a few of my favorite things.

CREAM-COLORED ponies and crisp APPLE strudels;
Doorbells and sleigh BELLS and schnitzel with noodles;
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their WINGS;
These are a few of my favorite things.
Girls in white dresses with BLUE SATIN sashes;
SNOWFLAKES that stay on my nose and eyelashes;
SILVER-WHITE winters that melt into springs;
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites,When the bee stings,
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my FAVORITE things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

 I used String on the 2 buttons (one on each page)
Cream-Colored cardstock was used as photo mats and journaling boxes.
There are Wings on the bird on the button on the left page (very hard to see I know)
And there are Snowflakes on one of the embellishment squares on the 1st page.

Thank you for stopping by.  This weekend is my last dog event for several months.  I hope to be a crafting fool very soon.

Halloween 2013

I can't believe I didn't blog in September or October.  I did create quite a number of pages following sketches and challenges, but just never was able to actually get the blog post done.

I really want to get better about blogging.  So that's what I am going to try to do this month.  I created my 52 Week layout for Scrappin'-n-Chattin' last night.  I'm still waiting until the last day to get my page done.  And my room is still a wreck.  But at least I am still creating something every week.

For this week's page I wanted to create a double page spread.  I have been taking quite a few photos of the dogs for Halloween.  I wanted something that had a larger number of photos on it.  I loved this week's sketch from Let's Scrap, but there really wasn't a lot of photos on it.

I tweaked the spread a little bit to add more photos.  I used the right page twice, in a mirror image.  Here's my layout....

Sorry for the poor quality photo.  I didn't finish until 10pm last night and didn't have the time to get a really decent photo.  Here is a closer look at each page...

I found that I am really light in Halloween paper and embellishments.  I will have to fix that.  Thanks so much for looking.

Enjoying Fall

Again I waited until the last minute to complete my 52 Weeks Layout for Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. Busy weekends really mess me up. I can't believe the year is almost over. Only 3 more weeks left of the contest. I still cannot believe that I have made it through the year, creating a page each week.

I have had an influx of awesome photos in the past couple of weeks. A friend of Jackie's mother took a ton of wonderful photos of David and Jackie with fall as the backdrop. I was so excited that she had them on a cd. I chose 6 of them for this layout. And I'm sure there will be more pages with them. They are all so great.

Let's Scrap always has great 2 page sketches that use lots of photos, so that was the first place I checked for a sketch. Perfect. Here's this week's sketch, the one I used:

And here is the layout...

I had chosen a new Nikki Sivils collection that I recently got - Beatrice. It's the first Nikki Sivils collection I have ever had. I was so surprised at how well the collection worked with the photos. I fussy cut the tree from one of the papers as well. The perfect embellishment for the layout.

The colors in the spread work great with the inspiration photo at Lasting Memories. I really wanted to participate in the challenge. It's been a couple of weeks for me and I've been so disappointed that I haven't been able to play along.

Here is a closer look at Page 1. I used my Zig Zag Martha Stewart border punch to create the layers of papers in the center of both pages. This will allow me to enter the layout into my first December challenge at SnC - which is to use chevron or zig zag paper, or use a punch to create
a pattern.

And page 2..... The cardstock is from a Bazzill pad I have and the bling is from my stock. All other elements are from the Nikki Sivils collection.

Thanks for looking. I hope everyone has lots of scrappy plans for the weekend. Enjoy.

2nd Trail

If you are here for the TPV blog hop, click here.

I had to create a page for my 52 Week Challenge layout at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. It's been very difficult to create with my scrap room being trashed. I actually started to clean it up yesterday, washing the walls and the bottoms of the furniture in the room. I was able to get enough stuff off of my work desk to be able to use it to scrap.

So I searched for a sketch and some challenges to inspire me on what direction I wanted to go. I found the monthly sketch at Let's Scrap and fell in love. It's a Julie Bonner sketch, and it was absolutely perfect for the photos of Willie I purchased from our trial from last weekend.

I am still so excited about doing agility with Willie. It just make me so happy to be out there with him and have him having so much fun. It's something that I always wanted to do, and now I can.

I used Me and My Big Ideas Boy pad. The colors work so well for these very colorful photos. I included Willie's results and some journaling about how much I love doing this. Here are the pages separately.....

Page 1

Page 2

I am going to include this layout into this week's challenge at Lasting Memories, which is Simply You. Though the pages are not about me, it is something that I really enjoy and have fun with. And by the way, congratulations to the new members of the design team. You are going to have a great time. All of the layouts are awesome this week.

I am also entering this layout into the ScrapFit challenge from Weekend-Warm Up #13, which is to include strips of patterned paper on your layout. There are strips on Page 1 along the left side and bottom, and strips along the top and right side of Page 2.

Thanks for looking. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Strawberry Picking

I am so happy to have scrapped both days this weekend. And I am very happy with all of the pages I created. Today I completed a layout of my nephews with photos that were taken while they were on a Kindergarten class trip strawberry picking.

I followed this week's sketch at Let's Scrap. They have such awesome 2-page sketches and I really loved this one.

The inspiration to do this layout came from The Paper Variety. Their challenge this week is Fruity Fun.

So here is the entire layout. Since I didn't have any photos of Josh with strawberries that you could see his face, I used a small photo of his face as one of the embellishment elements.

Here's a closer view of Page #1.

And page 2. The background paper is the same color on both pages. There seems to be a glare on this photo of page 2.

I am also entering this layout into this week's challenge at Wee Memories - Free For All. I will also include it into this month's Button challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. The challenge is to include at least 4 buttons on your page. Thanks for looking.

Willie's First Snow

We finally got some real snow here the day after Christmas. I really wish it had been on Christmas so that we could have played with the dogs during the day on Sunday, but I got a few photos at 2:00 AM (when Katie needed to go out), 5:00 AM (when everyone got up) and 4:30 PM on Monday (when I was clearing the walkway).

At first Willie was not sure about it. He was a little freaked out with the snowballs that stuck to his paws and all over his fur. But once he was outside with Harley, the fun began. They started running lightning fast all through the yard.

Of course I had to do a layout of Willie's first snow experience. I struggled with what to do. I knew I wanted to do do the December Challenge#19 at Lasting Memories . The challenge was to produce a winter themed layout. Well, I had the photos, but no direction. Well, today on Facebook, Let's Scrap posted the January Sketch Challenge. Wow... that was it. It's a Julie Bonner sketch for a double page layout. Just awesome....

My pages came together quite easily after finding this sketch. Here's page 1 ....

And page 2.....

And both pages together.... I used Echo Park's Wintertime collection and cardstock. What great papers.

I obsessed so long about the winter themed layout, the challenge is due tonight. But there is plenty of time to check out Let's Scrap and give Julie's sketch a try.

When Did This Happen

Last weekend, when I was making the bed, I looked down the hallway to see where Katie was. Ever since Luke died, she won't let me out of her site. She follows me everywhere. She was at the end of the hallway watching me. Harley was sitting snuggled up right against her. Katie doesn't usually let Harley anywhere near her. I managed to get out of the bedroom, get the camera, and have them in the same position. I took several photos of the rare event. When looking through other photos on the camera later that night, we found another one of Katie snuggling with Harley.

So I had decided that these events must be scrapped. I created this 2 page spread today using a sketch I found at Let's Scrap. This first page is the forgotten photo of Katie sleeping with
Harley on one of the dog beds, paws together.

The next page contains a few of the photos I took from the bedroom down the hallway last weekend. Katie really missed Lukie too.

This is both pages together.

This layout is also entered into the monthly challenge on the Scrappin'-n-Chattin' Yahoo Group. This one qualifies for the question category.
