Jane Eyre said it best. We Royal Reviewers have an independent will, which means our thoughts are our own, especially when it comes to a book, movie, or product that we are reviewing. 

 

Our reviews are not influenced by outside sources nor are they influenced by the fact that the items were complimentary. All reviews are indicative of our own thoughts toward the item(s) being reviewed, which means that we may not like everything that we are reviewing. When that occurs, we will try to include in our review what we didn’t like about it but what other may like about it.

 

While the majority of the books, movies, and products reviewed on Royal Reviews come from companies or other publicity outlets, we occasionally review our own purchases, books that were received as gifts, or books that we have borrowed. The source where we obtained them from will always appear in our reviews.

 

We receive no compensation for our reviews.

 

We hold the right to kill any review. If that happens, we will notify the sender as to why the review will not be featured on Royal Reviews.

 

 

 

Royal Reviews is always open to accepting review requests. All genres will be considered although we do ask that you send a synopsis along with your inquiry.

 

Print and digital formats are both accepted although PRINT is preferred.

 

Most reviews will also be posted on GoodReads and Amazon.

 Unless otherwise noted, Arcs will be reviewed within the month they are released or in the last two weeks of the month prior to the release date. Published books are normally reviewed within 4 weeks of receiving them but it may take a bit longer depending on the schedule. 

 

 

Movies are often reviewed on Royal Reviews. While all genres are considered, we give top priority to Documentaries of a historical nature, Period dramas, BBC and PBS films. All inquiries are welcome. Please inquiry at newroyalreviews@yahoo.com with the subject ‘Movie Review’.

 

Movies are reviewed 1-2 weeks after receiving them unless a specific timeframe has been requested.

 

5 Crowns aka A Royal Read—These are our desert-island, bury-me-with-this-book, don't-sleep-until-its-finished, all-time-favourite reads.
4. 5 Crowns—Although this book is considered a top read, one the reviewer thinks they might read again or wants to keep on their bookshelf forever, it may have very minor plot problems, slow parts, or minor editing errors. The characters of these books take up residence in your mind...and stay there long after you've read the final page!
4 Crowns—This rating is awarded to books with slight editing errors or plot problems. This book must still be a great read that the reviewer enjoys telling others about and doesn't want to put down.

3.5 Crowns—This rating is awarded to books that are great reads that may contain small editing errors and may have one or two sluggish points in the book. This will be the kind of book you look forward to reading but found yourself able to put down when life becomes too busy.

3 Crowns—This is for books that were well-written enough to entertain the reviewer but were lacking in either plot, character development or substance. These are possibly the kind of books that are good for a lazy Sunday afternoon but perhaps not the kind that you would be able to recall the plot of months down the track.

2 Crowns—This rating is for books that the reviewer felt were very average. They contained major flaws in the narrative that irritated the reader and prevented the reader from suspending belief and being immersed in the story. Novels awarded this rating would be recommended only to die-hard fans of the author.

1 Crown—These are books that we finished only by sheer determination. A rare rating but the kind of book that makes you wonder what on EARTH the publisher was thinking when they signed the author!

DNF's (Did Not Finish)-- DNF's are books our reviewers Did Not Finish. For a reason not necessarily the fault of the author, the reviewer couldn't establish a connection with the story. Life is too short to read a bad book.

 

 

 

Occasionally we also will review products. Tea and tea products are always welcome. All other products—within reason—will be considered. If you have a product you would like us to review, please inquire at newroyalreviews@yahoo.com with the subject ‘Product Review’.

 

Products will be reviewed within 2 weeks of receiving them unless a specific timeframe is requested.

The personal information (email addresses, mailing addresses, ect.) collected for giveaways will never be shared with a third-party unless the giveaway comes from a third-party (i.e. publisher, author, media outlet). The source of the giveaway will always be noted in the giveaway post.

 

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR MAILING ADDRESS IN THE PUBLIC COMMENT FORM. If you do post your mailing address in the public comment form, Royal Reviews is NOT responsible for it being distributed.

 

Winners will be notified by email the day of the announcement and have 72 hours to respond to our winner notification email or forfeit the prize, meaning another winner will be selected.

 

Royal Reviews is not responsible for any delays in claiming or receiving your prizes or damages to prizes that occurred in the post. When a prize is shipped directly from Royal Reviews, we will provide a tracking number. When a prize comes from a third-party we are not responsible for the prize not arriving or damages that occurred during shipping.

 

No substitutions will be made for prizes you win. Each giveaway posted will have its own set of rules (i.e. shipping restrictions, requirements such as following a social media, etc.) and we ask that you please comply as entries are checked.
