ABC Wednesday—P is for "pretty pink pigeon perch"

. . . in the piazza.  I think Venice has some
of the most beautiful street lamps
in the world.

ABC Wednesday—P is for "people"

and also for "pink."  All these folks were at the
botanic garden this past weekend —and
this was shortly before closing time.  One of my
kids remarked that Brooklyn is getting
to be a bit too popular.

ABC Wednesday—P is for "pecking order"

Or maybe that should be "pigeon power."
Have to hand it to this little bird,
though, who didn't hesitate to go up
against the big boys.

ABC Wednesday—P is for "polar bear"

The polar bears who
live at the Bronx Zoo have
a cold-water pool to play—and keep
cool—in, but don't have nearly the space they
would in the wild and don't enjoy their
preferred diet of seal meat either.  But then
again, they also don't know the difference.

ABC Wednesday—P is for "painted"

. . . also "piano" and "Pollock"

Saw this in front of a restaurant with
outdoor seating.  Entertainment for the dinner
crowd, I assume.  Don't know what kind of
music is played, but on this instrument
it should be jazz, I think.

ABC Wednesday—P is for "Paris"

It's pretty much impossible to choose one
image that represents all that Paris is.  I wouldn't
even try.  So I've randomly chosen this
elegant Haussmannian building near the Pantheon,
with its signature wrought-iron balconies

and red clay chimney pots.

ABC Wednesday—P is for "penguins"

Credit for this one goes to my daughter Katie,
who shot it from a speeding boat (!) when she and
her sister were in Antarctica last January.
Most of the Adélie penguins they saw were
gathered together by the hundreds—I guess this
couple was looking for a little alone time.

Tina's Picstory—P is for "panorama"

. . . and also for Prospect Heights, my
Brooklyn neighborhood—where I shot
this colorfully painted wall.
