The Weekend in Black and White

The colors of these flowers at the New York
Botanical Garden
couldn't have been more vibrant—and
yet I like them even better in black and white.  Go figure.

Pyrotechnic posies

I live right around the corner from the
Brooklyn Botanic Garden, but we have another,
even bigger one up in the Bronx.  That's where
I found these blooms that (with excellent
timing) remind me of fireworks.

Thursday Challenge—"large"

For this one, I'm revisiting the chrysanthemum show
at the New York Botanical Garden. Flowers
seemed appropriate for the first day of spring, and these

are, in fact, very large. The blooms are several inches
across and this ozukuri is one huge plant, on a single stem!

It takes about a year to grow/train one.
