i dont have one. and you dont know what you have until its gone. but i really really wish i did because now i have to put all this thought into whether or not i should go up on the mountain. you have to actually use disgression because you dont want to pay $50 if no one will be there or if the snow is going to suck because you cant just leave if those things turn out to be true.
so now i just have to lean on the safe side and go shopping/ errand running with my mom today. yipeee.

the big day
better late than never they say...
so Christmas was wonderful. got up around 9:00, went through the stockings, ate some pancakes, opened the presents and then just relaxed with the family. It was nice to have a day to truly relax (as ive been working and boarding in my spare time, no complaints) and specifically recognize God's grace that was sent to earth.
sarah and me, looking our best with some of our gifts. i got stickers, which i am quite excited to use to decorate letters!
one of the most interesting gifts the family got was an umbrella. pandas and elephants and tigers, o my!
but the most interesting part was when some friends and i went to see The Family Stone that night (its definitely a feel good kind of movie for those who are interested). As we exited the theatre, a man dressed as the Grinch was just chillin in the mall. a bit creepy if you ask me; i think the expression on Jesse's face says alot about the situation.

all a glow
so every year we have certain Christmas Eve traditions. Though the order is not always the same, the events are. We go over to our old neighbors' house, one of the sweetest couples in the world, and we are told how grown up we look and are fed lots of candy and chocolate (there are also presents somewhere in there). then we go to the Collins' house. We eat food (the artichoke dip being my personal favorite), and my sister and i get told numerous times, once again, how "grown up" we look or if youre sarah, how skinny you are and pretty youve gotten (i just get more and more grown up lol). We also go to a Candle light service at church, and the service is ended with everyone singing Silent Night, no music, no lights, just lit candles in everyones hands. its beautiful. The night always ends with us driving up behind Weber State University, to drive past a house that has a ridiculous amount of traffic due to their outrageous display of lights that can be seen from miles away (im not kidding).
im not complaining now, but this year has been a bit different. i forgot to mention that snow is normally on my lawn, but its too warm outside for that right now. also we did not go to the old neighbors, and that house, with all the lights, must have fallen of the mountain (or the electric bill was too crazy, or the people moved). there were no lights to drive past. but the most comical difference came when i walked into church and was handed a glow stick instead of a candle. can you believe it?!?! yes, a neon yellow glow stick. ill admit it, i was a bit upset, but i just had to laugh when they started playing Silent Night and we were all waving glow sticks in the air like we were at a Rolling Stone's concert. Well good thing Christmas is about Jesus' birth and not traditions eh?
so though i was a bit thrown off, i am so blessed to be able to go to church on Christmas Eve and have a wonderful Savior and family, so i think i am going to go spend some time with them right now.
Merry Christmas!!!

Visions of Sugar Plums
im not really sure what those are, but they sound sweet and delicious. not quite as delicious as the treats we made today, of course. A bit of chocolate, peanut butter, salt, and pure sugar. that pretty well covers every craving that people have but know they should not pursue for their figure's sake.
but at christmas time, that nonsense about dieting is left out in the cold, while indoors, people dine on the delicious treats they make and receive.
sarah and i made a few special ones, cause you know, not all reindeer are the same. i dedicated this one to those korean, jewish, christian reindeer.

Out of LA
im no where near LA but I just saw so many stars. Wow that was korny, but seriously, I could see so many stars and constellations tonight. i saw Orion and both dippers! its not even that cold outside, so i could bare standing out in the street for a minute to look at the sky. dont get me wrong, i can still see my breath, its just warmer than the 15 degrees that it was last week at midnight.
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve!

The back bone’s connected to the, hip bone…
as the typical addicted blogger would do... promtly post.
Im such an old lady. I went snowboarding, which was the most, and most difficult, exercise I have done since Biola (mostly due to injuries). I took a hot shower when I got home and was feeling pretty chipper, but I just sat at a coffee shop for an hour and then walked out in the cold.
A)I almost slipped on ice and broke my hip, but
B)I almost needed a walker, as my back and knee were not too pleased with the long rest and the cold weather. Im not supposed to feel those parts of my body when I move, not for another few decades at least.

Well finals are over. I celebrated with a trip to Disneyland to enjoy the fireworks and snow on mainstreet. While that part of the entertainment was pretty amazing, so were the girls I went with. Jenni, Sarah and Brooke are just outstanding women that I have been so blessed to see almost everyday, whether it be at football, class, or just conversing during the little free time we are able to spend together.
Afterward, Sarah, Kimmy, Chappy and I decided to relax after the long week and have a little girl’s night out. We had some memorable times, and ill just leave it at that.
Thomas and I had a pleasant time traveling on Friday and were all smiles when we stepped out into the chilled air of Utah. It is such a crip cold here. You can feel it in your lungs as they fill air. It nips at your nose and ears, which always takes me a second to notice, as I am usually quite fascinated with my visible clouds of breath. Though the relaxation was nice on Thursday, Kimmy and I didn’t go to bed until 3, so I was quite tired on the riveting ride back up to Ogden… okay okay I feel asleep.
Friday night was spent at the Cain residence. First of all, Claire lives in a beautiful home that was decorated with care for the holidays. The house was all astir, as her parents were hosting a Christmas party for many of the doctors and workers from the hospital. Claire and I were able to chat and catch up as we sat by the fire and munched on delicious finger foods. As romantic as that sounds, it was also quite comical, as the conversations often paused in order to talk with the latest people who entered the room. Some of those conversations were the most awkward ones I have ever had, but you just smile, fake a laugh, and try to keep taking in most of those situations. The night was quite enjoyable nonetheless.
Other than that, I have been doing some shopping, some eating, some board game playing, some bridesmaid’s dress buying, some Narnia watching, and im about to go do some snowboarding. Hopefully I wont be doing any freezing, but its always possible.

sweet victory
that is the taste that will tingle on my tongue in one hour when i turn in my last paper.
also, i went to bed by 1:15 last night... this morning... who cares, it was so beautiful.

slow, thankfully
slowest week ever. but not really in a bad way. for it being a finals week, it has actually gone beautifully. i have been able to stay up with little problem, i havent been ridiculously tired yet (though i show side affects), i have still had lots of fun, as usual, and i got two packages from two people that i admire and love beyond words. as far as the actual finals go, it could have been much more hellish and i am almost finished.
i fly home on friday, home to cold and beautiful Christmas weather. yesss. thomas and i bought plane tickets, and i think that 1 hour and 45 minute flight will be the longest period of time i will have spent with the kid since being here. o the irony.

late night breakfast, early morning homework
every semester during finals week, the school puts on a late night breakfast. you can feel the release of tension, as tons of students pile into the caf around 10 pm. Many of the professors come wearing santa hats and aprons, and they serve us pancakes, bacon, eggs and hashbrowns. to also lighten the mood and add to Christmas spirit, mr. clause himself paid a visit. Everyone takes a break from studying to eat, talk and take picture with saint nick in the flesh.
Thomas, looking studious in his khakis and sweater, even stopped by for the fun. he really wanted to sit on Santa's lap so i figured i had to catch it on film... okay okay, he didnt really want to sit on his lap, but i had santa convince him that it would only be appropriate.
another part of the excitement is the fact that a group of students usually dresses up like professors, imitating their favorite person the entire night. if you knew the students and the teachers they imitated, this picture would be even more funny, but ill admit, i had a good laugh.
after breakfast, i proceeded to, once again, do homework until the wee hours of the morning. it was kind of my fault though, last night, that i had to stay up so late. i was not very productive in the late afternoon. o well, im done tomorrow.

two 2 go
i took a wicked long exam yesterday. i cant believe it was only yesterday. i cant believe it is only tuesday. days are running together. when you are awake this much you feel like a few days have passed when they really havent. that will happen when you are still working on homework at 2 am. it should at least be wednesday by now. o well, i guess i am not complaining about the slow passing of time. i turned in a paper today, i need to finish a long one for tomorrow and then do my take home essay test for thursday. overall, the finals have not been too bad. there is just alot else going on at the same time.
i have slept in my bed probably a total of 5 nights since being back from thanksgiving break. those times were not consecutive, and i might be including the hour nap i took the other night. but this is what it usually looks like when i walk back to my room at 7 in the morning.

week 2
wow, i cant believe ive only been back for two weekends. both have been wonderful though. last weekend we beat Biola and this weekend was full of Christmas fun.
sorry for the horrible chronology, but back to Friday. We had a fabulous Christmas party at Kinsley's house. lots of people, food, and pictures.
me, chappy and ruth
lame thomas trying to shove a carrot in my mouth/ nose
nice thomas and me smiling for a picture (ps, well be home in 5 days!!!)
of course last night was the concert and then tonight was Yule, which is the Winter banquet. while i did not get asked, i played mom, did lots of hair, and took tons of pictures. one of which is of thomas and his amazing girlfriend shannon. she is such a sweetheart. dont they just look adorable?
even more lame than that sick carrot is the fact that i have exams tomorrow. major party foul!

U C Ho Ho Ho
I had chills ladies and gentlemen. And not because i was cold here in southern cali. I went to the UCO Christmas Concert last night. The University Choir and Orchestra at CBU is pretty impressive, and they seriously gave me goosebumps during more than one song. I sat in a row with other fellow admirers (and frequent attenders of the UCO practices). While none of us sported the bright pink lipstick those poor choir girls are required to wear, we did sing along with many of the songs, that is when we werent sitting in complete awe of the sweet melodies and harmonies gracing our ears.
Some of the groupies from apt. 35: Lindsey, Mel, & Kimmy
After our fun at the concert a few of us went down to the historic Mission Inn in downtown riverside. There are lights all over, making the hotel look even more romantic that it normally is. I tried to take a pic of the tree and lights inside, but it just did not give the hotel justice, but i do have a picture of some of the fabulous people i went with.
This is a girls picture that a very friendly and intoxicated man decided to join.
after a lap around the hotel to look at all the lights, we went out for a little dinner at good old Applebees. good times. i will admit that the night was a very enjoyable way to get in the Christmas spirit.

7 days
I know I haven’t been here long, but I already have a routine and foundations. I walk to class every morning, and as I approach the quad, there are always certain people I keep my eye out for. When you see them you get that warm feeling, and those moments of warmth in your day add to security and comfort. And I don’t mean being comfortable necessarily, because some of the people that give me that feeling are the ones that challenge and push me most to grow and improve.
I don’t know how my mind wandered to that topic. I am sitting at work with nothing to do and no desire to do homework, though I should since I have tons to do. But when I come back from break, I will have one less person to look for.

you could have fooled me
yes there is christmas music playing in the caf, and in random rooms i pass as i walk down the hall. there are lights and ornaments hanging from the ceiling, and there are even girls sporting scarfs and sweaters. but i cant believe that in one week i will be going home for Christmas break.
first of all its come way way to fast. but also, that anticipation for Christmas that begins when the snow falls the day after Thanksgiving and when the lights go up on 25th street, that excitment is almost non-existent this year.
i did have that romantic feeling when i was on Main Street at Disneyland, but other than that im still chillin in 75 degree weather during the day time... in December folks!
ha, i guess "chillin" is not the best word.

B I F A C
Biola Intermural Football Allstar Champions. its a bit wordy, but ill take it.
as you may remember, i played intermural football at school (sad that i have to use past tense verbs now). during the season, we play against other teams at school, and the winning team of the championship game, the Fortuna Bowl, goes to play at Biola against intermural teams from schools like Asuza and Biola.
Well the Bus Drivers won Fortuna and went to Biola this past Saturday to play.
Let me just tell you that last year we got worked, and Asuza apparently remembered that because one of their teammates shouted in disgust that they "could NOT lose to CBU." Guess what Asuza! we remembered too, and there was no way that was happening again.
after a deserved win, we ate a little lunch, sat in the sun (yeah, sun, in december, what is this?) and walked to another field to play a team from Biola.
the Biola tournament is extremely physical. yeah yeah yeah we wear flags, but you might notice that the word "flag" appears no where on our shirts. it is football, and one of Biola's teams plays dirty, rough football. during the game that we played against this particular team, Nikki Q, one of the toughest and most skilled girls on our team hurt her ankle and is now on crutches. Kimmy was hit in the leg so hard that she was off the ground for a good fifteen minutes. ill let you know that nobody hurts my asian. and i let them know too cause i stopped one of their arrogant little girls the second our defense got back on the field (and she ran into me so fast it took her a second to get back up off the ground). and later, i sacked one of the girls behind the line of scrimmage. after most of our team had recieved injuries or bruises, we lost the game. we walked straight to another field though to play a different Asuza team. long game short, we beat them.
a bit later that night we played Mufasa in the Championship, a Biola team who beat the mean team we played earlier. while i hurt my knee during that game, it was worth it cause we had a shut out. who are the champions? we are? ya, thats right Biola!

the happiest place on earth
it is truly magical. i love Disneyland. i love the quaintness of main street and the busy feeling of people bustling all over. Different ages and various languages, but everyone has the same agenda. that is to enjoy the atmosphere of the characters, rides, smells and details.
i love the fun conversations you have when you wait in line. i love the thrill of soaring over california or screaming through space. it made me feel carefree and childish, the good kind of course.
as i said, full of love
we saw so many characters
me and mickey, we're pretty tight...
waiting to Soar over California (like you would read a book: Megan, Robin, Kimmy, Me, Alli, Ashley, Carrie (black hat), Kinsley, and Carly)

o my heavens
goodness, there are so many exciting things to tell you all about. Disneyland was amazing and i took tons of pictures that i will blog later. Today, i went to Biola for a football tournament, and you know it, the Bus Drivers took first place. We played four games and i am pretty sure that i will not be able to move tomorrow, but we worked them and it was amazing.
now i am headed to take a shower and then go to Kimmy's to trade pictures and massages... that is assuming i can endure the treck to her appartment.

fabulousa
i need to make note of this in case i should forget in the near furture how wonderful my life is.
it truly has been a great week. if you count the beginning of it on Sunday, which i am going to, i was in beautiful Utah with many amazing people.
monday, sam picked me up from the airport and greeted me with a hug and a starbucks drink, since she figured i would be tired after getting up so early... she is sweeter than the frappachino that she got me, and it was pretty tasty.
monday night, Kimmy and i did a little baking and later had a sleep over on her living room floor.
I started off tuesday with a walk in the crisp, cool air of Cali with Kimmy, Kinsley and Robin and even got a nap in that day. Plus, Team Awesome won our volleyball game that night, which was quite impressive seeing as that has never happened before (we are the team that everyone wants to be on, but no one wants to play for, cause we are hilarious but horrible).
Yesterday, Sarah and i went for a run before our morning football practice, and did i mention that i love playing football.
i dont have english at all this week so i didnt have class till 11 yesterday (and it will be the same today and tomorrow). Then, Erika and i spent some quality time together last night, which was a riot, and i went to bed by midnight.
sorry for the boring overview, but i have honestly had such an enjoyable few days. sadly, the relaxation is about to all go down the drain with finals and projects around the corner.
p.s. melissa o, im sorry about your toe, that is no fun but i hope it heals quickly. i have an owwie too cause i ran into jenny's elbow at practice, and now i have a bump on my forehead.

chappy
i get kind of nervous, or maybe intimidated. everyone glances at you when you walk in. the system makes me feel dumb, and its just not cozy.
my friend melissa chapman, better known as chappy, would beg to differ with me. she gets excited, welcomes the glances and the challenge. the library is one of her favorite places on campus.
dont get me wrong. i love books and i love places like Barnes and Knoble and Borders or libraries that i am familiar with or that are better lit i think. but i am just not a fan of the Anne Gabriel Library at my beloved CBU.
but yesterday, mel went with me, giving me tips and help the entire time. "walk like you own the place" she wispered under a grin as she strutted up the stairs. and if you know melissa chapman, she is "happy chappy" and when she is passionate about something you know it. well she is passionate about that library i tell ya. she just runs around with numbers and finds all sorts of little treasures hidden on those shelves.
the best part, though, was when we were checking out and a very goodlooking, but friendly, boy was waiting beside us. you know those glances i talked about that make me insecure, well she was flashing a few his way. well that friendly smile and those big brown eyes called her out. the confidence that moved her little hips up the stairs earlier drained right out of her. i had to smile because, of course, she did her typical laugh, played it off as nothing, and o dear, somehow mel seems to always take the awkwardness out of the extremely awkward situations she can get herself into (another prime example would be the combination of her, a bike, stairs, a jamba, and a baseball boy).
i dont think i mind the library as much any more, but like most things, its better with a friend.

blurr
well im back safe and sound. i think i got back into the swing of things pretty well. i didnt have much time to process the break since i got back from the air port five minutes after the class i had to go to was supposed to start. luckily i made it in time to sign in , but was extremely hot, as i was dressed for utah weather but had no time to change. after talking with my sis tonight i realized that i didnt even experience the half of it, as there is currently a "blizzard" according to her fabulous, educated diagnosis.
its good to be back though. mostly because i missed the people. but as i sat in class yesterday, i realized how much of a blurr it was. it was such a quick break-- short enough that i got to say hello to everyone but not really get quality normal time, and long enough to be re-aquainted with everything and feel so comfortable with that place. being back in philosophy class, with the prof listing away dates of tests and homework, made me feel like the break was such a blur, like it did not even happen. its just something you talk about. its the second thing that you inquire about on monday after asking people, "how are you doing."
having two homes is kind of like being in a movie. its like i play two roles, but the people that i love only see my play in one of those roles. i live in this fairytale life with palm trees, class, football and friends, which no one at home has experienced or seen me experience. then there is the magical life of mountains, stars, snow, family and friends that i try so hard to explain to people here. neither place can be sufficiently explained. not sure how i feel about that... if i figure it out ill blog it though... heh.
for now ill just show you a few pics of the Utah home.

home
its weird. i miss utah a ton when i am in california. and especially the last few days before coming home, i was super excited to see it and those who live in it. then the day before i left, and right as i drove up to O town in 38 degree weather, i realized how much i really like my school and the people who live there. this was evident by the fact that on that drive, i talked to or text messaged probably five people from school. i knew i liked it there, but now i would dare say love...
i called school "home" today, and my mom promtly corrected me saying that this was home (this being the place that i am sitting right now). This is home. this will always be home. i love that i can come here and everything is comepletely comfortable and i dont even feel like i have been gone for 3 months. its weird being home at the same time though because of that other place where i have spent my time for the last few months and will hopefully for quite a few more.
Nonetheless, being here is amazing. no flip flops in the shower, a beautiful soft bed in a room that is completely dark and music free when i sleep, a mother to wake me up and cook with, and fantabulous friends and family to spend time with.
Thanksgiving was great, and the food was soooo delicious. i have much to be thankful for.

deep breaths
deep breaths kill butterflys, but i have not found the solution to prohibit their return. i have had them dancing in my stomach numerous times this past week. i had them before my speech last friday that i did not prepare for very well because i was so consumed with football and everything but school (im sure i did fine though...)
Arizona was amazing, but ill admit it got a bit nerve-racking at times, so the butterflys were fluttering out of control. i had to remind myself to inhale.
i had them at 9:05 yesterday, when i was still printing my paper that i stayed up till 3 in the am finishing for my 9:00 class.
again at 10:00 when i walked outside into the beautiful warm sun and was greeted by hugs from bunches of amazing people, and i realized how much i love it here.
an now, as i sit in class. i am going home today. Utah here i come.
breath deep.

obsessed
wow, i cant believe i have not updated since last Tuesday! my roommate says i am blog obsessed. i guess i was obsessed with so many other things this past week that i did not have time for the blog. well basically, i had a ton a ton going on last week, and consequently slightly emotional, which is never the best combo in the world. i had tons of homework, Bible studies, football practices and there were still people that i wanted to spend time with. sadly, i did not get nearly as much homework done as i wanted, and as much as there are numerous people i want to invest my time in, i do such a poor job every week. boo on me. i am sorry if you are one of those who kind of got the shaft. know that i love you and am praying for you, and i can say that because i know all the people who read this.
the weekend was amazing though. we did not win the championship game, but we played really well. my team was made up of amazing girls and coaches. pictures will be posted at a later date when i dont still have a paper to finish.
p.s.
i cant wait to come home! technically i get to come home tomorrow. yipee!!!

there's a trick
so i am writing a persuasive speech about living on campus, and i have numerous points about why living on campus will enhance people's college experience. naturally, this speech applies mostly to people at my school, so i decided to interview friends who have commuted and now live on campus as well as talk about some of my favorite parts about living on campus.
one of the little perks, in my opinion, is the availability of the pinapple. every day in the cafeteria, they have beautiful half-mooned slices of juicy pinapple.
but there is a trick to having it each and every day. first, you have to eat in the caf every day, which thankfully our cafeteria is pretty impressive, so for now, i dont mind so much. but often, the pinapple is the first to go in the fruit tray, so many people sadly go sit down with out any on their tray. however, these people are giving up way to easily. almost every 20 minutes, someone changes the fruit tray, and i almost guarantee that if you go eat almost all of your food and get back up for the 1 minute walk back to the food area, you will not only get to see someone you know and flash a smile, but you will find that a new tray has been put out recently enough that there is still pinapple in it. however, should this method fail you, which it rarely will, you can likely sneak some pinapple out of the frig that has the sliding doors. and that is how it is done... that is how i touch each and every day with juicy, sweet joy.
i am not putting all of that in my speech, seeing as it is a persuasive speech, but had it been informative, im pretty sure i could have talked about pinapple for a while.

well this time its late
saturday i went to lunch at the caf with a friend, although i did not catch it on film. we went to a water-polo game and then attempted to work on homework. though i was semi-productive, it was all interrupted when we decided to go out to dinner at BJ's, which is a pizza place with barbecue chicken pizza that is heavenly.
but even more enjoyable are the pizzokie's, which are cookies that they bake in pizza pans and top with ice cream. i should have taken a picture of the food before we all ate it, but you get the idea.
Sunday i had a lovely sunday brunch with Andy and Tom, and can i tell you that i truly enjoy the caf on Sunday afternoons because we eat amazing food out on the patio and it is beautiful.
Then we had a long practice for football and a team dinner to go over everything for AZ. im getting really excited for the trip but i have so much to get finished before hand. eh, what's a girl to do?
Today was a Monday, basically uneventful.

early
well ive been getting to bed and getting up really early. football practice is actually really fun, but all of us are getting a bit tired. yesterday, we did not have chapel, but instead of doing homework, which i have tons of, i went over to apparment 35. a few of us had tea and kim and i layed on the floor and snuggled under a blanket. it was nice to just relax, which i didnt get to do all week and wont get to do until i come home for Thanksgiving.
another thing we did early, was start decorating for Christmas. we all took a Target run to grab lights and decorations, came home and put on some Christmas tunes. i wrapped Kinsley up in some lights, and then we proceeded to kill our thumbs by pushing zillions of tacs into the wall to hold up lights. It was slightly commical to me to see the snowflake lights we put up in the window of the appartment, along with the snowman statue that is now standing next to their television, seeing as the most precipitation we will ever see at school is some cool rain. But i was so tired last night that i once again refused to make the 3 minute walk back to the dorms and we just had a little sleep-over.

"pop"
thats what i did to my collar today. you got it, the california corruption is seeping through my veins.
matthew, i know you are probably reading this in disgust, but i want you to know that it is kind of exhilarating... you should try it some time since you are all daring and will jump out of planes and such.

beat that
blah blah blah you have a husband who takes you down to salt lake. ok, ill admit it, you probably have the better deal, but i am attempting to compete in the challenge anyway. (FYI: an amazing friend of mine challenged me and claire to a restaurant face-off).
time: 11 pm
destination: In-N-Out Burger
mission: burger and fries animal style and a chocolate shake... and a hat

congrats
i would just like to say congratulations to my little sister.
this evening, she proudly informed me that she had entered a coloring contest at our credit union and she won! so that lucky 16 year-old (with very impressive coloring skills aparently) is now ten dollars richer and has a certificate to adorn the refrigerator at home. well, sarah, i cant wait to see the frig (and eat out of it for that matter) and maybe you can take this poor college student out when you get home!
heh, i love my sister. a few weeks ago, she sent me this picture of the hill leading to my house, along with many others with fall themes, because im missing the beautiful fall colors.
and the other day, she called just to make me guess what was on her hand. guess... snow. i love snow and i love that she knows i love snow and will call me to tell me that it still exists. and even though we will probably fight over the car when i get home, im still super excited to see her.

i would go on strike
today we were doing truth tables in philosophy class, and yes, they are as boring and as simple as they sound. anyway, they actually involve some math, and if you ever have to do a problem that involves the formula: 2^n when n= 5 dont do it. in fact, my teacher said that it would be too difficult and there are so many opportunities to mess up that it would be stupid of us to even try. "if someone asked me to do that, i would go on strike," he said.
well right now i wish i could go on strike. i am not sure it is possible for me to do everything i have committed to, and there are so many chances for me to mess up that i kind of am considering this whole "strike" thing.
ok, ok, mom. stop worrying. i am not going to quit. i am actually just being a whiner. but i think i explained that our football team is going to Arizona not this weekend but the next for a tournament. it will be really fun, but there are lots of new rules which means lots of practice. and what do you know... the only time of day no one has anything scheduled is 6:30 in the morn. so Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays i am up and on the front lawn running. it was actually really pretty today because it looked like the mist had spend the night on the lawn and was waking up at about the same time we were. it was just hovering over the grass. the very wet grass. the grass that we had to run in because the defensive coach actually made us run. and the grass was still wet a bit later when i fell diving for a flag.
well not to mention the fact that that is early, i have intermural volleyball games on Tuesday and Thursday nights that begin anywhere from 10:30-11:15 at night. what do they think we are? young college students full of life and adrenaline? well i wish i was one of those but i think its impossible with the two sports, a job and classes... classes with big projects.
and that is why i want to go on strike. and i really really am excited for Thanksgiving break. but i wont quit, and i love it here.
and that is all for now.

well at least he sounded 50
some of you may know him. He is a great guy, smooth with words, is an avid Kelly Clarkson fan and has been known to unabashedly pop the collar.
well we do live in the same places year round now, and yet, we rarely are able to talk for more than 5 mintues, which is a result of busy schedules on both parts. tonight, though, i stole sprite and two cookies from the cafeteria and took them to his place for a little visit. it was nice to just sit down and chat for a while. he is an impressive and encouraging person. and that is about as much as i am going to say, on account that i do not want to make his head too big. but i owe alot of my security and "social success" here at school to him. one more thing i will give credit to was his comment, "I am learning more and more how much i have to learn." i thought it was quite quotable and respectable.
heh, later on i went to a basketball game, wearing a sweat shirt and jeans, and guess who showed up with his collared shirt under a nice blue sweater topped off with a tan blazer. yes he did. i was sitting with sarah, who is one of his closet friends ( an exremely genuine, sweet, godly woman), and i am pretty sure we were much more entertained by our witty comments about his outfit than we were by the actual game. it all started when i asked when his 50th birthday was. he replied with something about how i should just keep playing with my crayola crayons.
o im having some good times... really, im getting chances to color whatever i want.
heck, i love my crayons.

fishy fishy
erika, shannon, me, aimee, krista and nicole-- we are poor, irresponsible, and easily entertainable students.
it was 11:30 at night, and were we in our rooms finishing our tests, writing our papers and reading our books? nope. we were not. instead we were in the lobby playing with our new fishies. we had two beta fish and quite a few little gold fish.
aimee was extremely attachted to the gold fish after about 4 minutes and nicole was ridiculously protective of her beta fish.
well we spent a good amount of time trying to get the beta fish to eat... but we didnt have any bits of fish food if you know what i mean.
it all turned out fine in the end. unexpectedly, the fish became friends and no harm was done (yet, heh heh) and we all finished our homework and made it to class or work this morning. granted i got about 4 hours of sleep, but i cant blame the fish for everything.
yup

glorious
well, i can hear the laughter of little children who tricker treating at random spots on campus. we hold a carnival of sorts on campus so there are people of young and old running around all dressed up.
luckily, i had to do neither of those things to get wonderful treats on this holiday (which is normally one that snow or rain threaten in Utah, but it was a lovely 80 degrees here today). all i had to do was stop by the post. and ill have you know, i am one of those obnoxious people that does not discreetly carry my box back to my dorm as soon as i recieve it. i definately took it to class with me... so what, everyone happens to see it and became jealous of the fact that someone in the world loves me o so much as to send me a large parcel.
look at that sticker!!!
ooo look whats inside...
what wonderful goodies!

thats right
let me give you a little background information. flag football is a pretty big deal, and the teams get extremely competative.
so the two major girls teams are the Bus Drivers (colors being black and yellow) and the Canadian Bowlers (colors being red and white). Bus Drivers are known to take Fortuna Bowl, and last year they had an undefeated season. well, this year, Drivers lost to Bowlers twice, which made the Bowlers very confident about a supposed impending win that would be in their future.
We usually just play out on the front lawn in the afternoon, with some guys who really like football being the referees and a few fans. But today was the day of Fortuna Bowl; both teams got together pretty much all day for a multitude of activities such as practice, team dinner, and a viewing of Remember the Titans (an extremely inspiring movie with many good looking men, a few nice monologues, and one tear jerking scene). o and let me clarify, we did not gather together, we met seperately.
My team decided we wanted to win but we really wanted to just enjoy the game. so we entered the field with "eye of the tiger" playing on our boom box" and our coaches actually made us to up-downs to a whistle. it was hilarious because we were aweful. Then the big lights that they brought in were turned on, the bleechers quickly filled, leaving many on blankets on the ground, and the actual black and white stripes blew their whistles.
It was such a rough game, but guess who won? The Bus Drivers baby.
Get on the bus and close the border are all i have to say.

haaaayyy, its friday!
well i got most of my tests over with this week and there are just a few more papers due next week. but those are not on my mind right now. sleep is mostly consuming the thoughts, but im also excited about the fun weekend.
tonight started it out nicely because there was a costume, dance party tonight at a girl's house in chino, and we had so much fun. a little rap, a few people dressed up and a strobe light, and you got yourself a good, knee-slapping time. dont worry though, my best dance partners tonight were definately girls, as we baptists down here dont mess with that dirty dancing that involves touching the opposite sex.
tomorrow is full of terrific plans as well, seeing as it is the Fortuna Bowl. its a big deal. Bus Drivers vs. Canadian Bowlers. if youre a fan, wear black. but whatever, you do, dont wear red. the game should be intense, so i think i am going to run over the plays before i go to sleep. i need a good nights rest for tomorrow, though, so im off.
tonight started it out nicely because there was a costume, dance party tonight at a girl's house in chino, and we had so much fun. a little rap, a few people dressed up and a strobe light, and you got yourself a good, knee-slapping time. dont worry though, my best dance partners tonight were definately girls, as we baptists down here dont mess with that dirty dancing that involves touching the opposite sex.
