Foodie Friday/Pink Saturday: When Life Gives You Lemons...

When Life Gives You Lemons

by Mrs. Magpie

My husband has a kidney stone...

My dishes are not done...

I'm trying to plan a party...

That should be loads of fun...

My close friend's had some surgery...

I've got phone calls coming in...

There's commotion in the closet...

And methinks they're drinking gin...

[Annie, you should be ashamed!]

I've got silver trays to polish...

A Victorian house to show [please pray!]...

My refrigerator's empty...

And my table's full of snow...

So I have few Friday foodies...

Or much Saturday pink to share [the following pics are old hat]...

But I've gathered up some lemons...

That were scattered here and there...

And I'm adding Laura's lemonade [just pretend there's lemonade in that pitcher]...

That came from Shorehouse Chic ...

And offering you all this award...

Before it's past its peak! ;-)

Thanks, Laura, you're a doll! And I hope all of you Foodies, Pinkies, Blinkies, and Nods will not only visit Laura at the Shorehouse but that you will accept this award along with my love for being such great bloggy friends! There are more awards to come! :-)

Happy Foodie Friday and Pink Saturday! You can visit either one of these events by clicking on the icons on the sidebar of my blog. And they are so much fun, you won't want to miss either of them! They are hosted by two of the loveliest ladies in Blogville: Gollum of Designs by Gollum and Beverly of How Sweet the Sound! Thank you so much for hosting us, ladies. And thanks, everyone, for your visits. I look forward to visiting all of you! :-)

Warmly,

Mrs. Magpie (Sheila)... maker of lemonade and purveyor of all good wishes!

P.S. On Blue Monday and Second Time/Three or More Tuesday, just in case I'm out of reach...

You'll know that I have flown the coop...

And headed to the beach!

Outdoor Wednesday: Flowers Aplenty

Today is Outdoor Wednesday hosted by our gracious hostess Susan of A Southern Daydreamer, and today is the day when we all tour outside vistas.

Even though we've had some cold weather that has done a number on many people's bougainvillea plants and other tropicals, there were still some beautiful blooms on Tuesday as I drove to and from a meeting I had to attend. So I hopped out and took these shots in a couple of friends' yards. It was a little bright for taking pictures, but the flowers were just too pretty to pass by without speaking.

First I spoke to some golden yellow violas...

Then a flock of white petunias...

Followed by a bevy of beautiful white azaleas...

And their cousins gowned in a lovely pink shade...

And look, there's George Tabor himself...

George has such a sweet face...

And speaking of faces, ever notice how pansies have little faces...

With each one...

As pretty as the next...

These must be siblings...

Or at least members of the same club...

And see that little blue one on the left? He's telling his girlfriend a secret. Do you think he might be proposing? His family thinks so. Hers, however, are oblivious...

These two pansies are the best of friends...

And these are two opposing football teams. Can you tell which ones are the refs?...

Looks like the blue team is rolling over the yellow...

And the crowd goes wild...

Have you ever noticed how the faces of some pansies look like butterflies...

And if you're like me, you can never decide which one is your favorite... the rich deep purple...

Or the bright golden yellow...

Hmmmm...purple...

Yellow...

I can't decide because I love them both, and I love the ruffles of a petunia...

Almost as much as I love my viola and pansy friends...

What do you think about it, Mr. Gander? After all, you hang around here all the livelong day...

Oh, I see. You prefer the purple ones...

Well, we thank you very much, and I've got one more personal question for you. Are you trying to mimic those swan planters in front of that house right behind you?

Yes, those right there...

Please, Mr. Gander! There's really no need to honk!

Sorry I ruffled your feathers there, pal. Just askin', but I tell you what. Why don't I leave you with this pansy patch as a peace offering...

And you can have the best of all worlds!

That's it for my Outdoor Wednesday offering. Thank you so much for dropping by to visit, and I look forward to visiting with you as well. Please join me for a walk through Bloglandia as we visit my friend Susan and the other Outdoor Wednesday participants by clicking here on A Southern Daydreamer. You'll be glad you did. I know I always am! :-)

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

Warmly,

Mrs. Magpie (Sheila)
