In case of emergency
From wool felt of the nicest kind, a simple drawstring bag filled with all the necessities for trip to Fiji in a few weeks. Band aids, saline, panadol, baby nurofen, themometer.. you know all the things that if I take with me, will not be used but if I don't pack we'll be cursing ourselves that we left behind.

Burda 9652
Pattern: Burda 9652
Fabric: Spotlight Cotton
I remember this pattern from when I first started sewing, made for my little boy from red fabric with teddy bears on it.
Now its Eva's turn, the perfect little summery outfit for her to crawl, stand and now cruise furniture in.

Far Far Away II Quilt Top
Every night, once the smalls are tucked into bed and assumed their random sprawled out states, I wake up. Wide awake. My body realises if Iwant to do something uninterrupted for the first time all day, do it now. And every night as I climb into bed after midnight, just like last night, I question why I stayed up SO late when I could have had a lovely 10 hour sleep.
But every night I do it, and last night's project makes me happy. I have finished the top for Eva's Far Far Away II quilt. Now to piece the back which will be fairly simple, and then figure out how I am going to quilt it. I'm temped to try meandering which I've never done, but if I dont like it and have to unpick that's alot of unpicking! Otherwise it might be the old stitch in the ditch.

Apple Pie Cupcakes
Craft Group is this morning, our first since before Christmas, and with the weather being atrocious last night I decided to spend some time in the kitchen (OK, more time than normal) and try something new, the Apple Pie Cupcake recipe on Melanger Baking blog.
A taste test after baking to make sure I wasn't going poison anyone, and these are delicious. Not having any shortcrust pastry, I made do with Puff Pastry, cut with a scalloped cookie cutter and baked in a 180 degree oven for about 15mins (flattening and turning them a couple of times while cooking).
Hope the girls like them...

Japanese Handmade Baby Wears Top "R"
Pattern: "R" from Handmade Baby Wears (there's a link here but I got my copy from Kate when she was de-stashing, thanks Kate!)
Fabric: Far Far Away by Heather Ross
My first attempt at a pattern from this book, and thank goodness for the illustrations which make it possible to follow, cause I sure don't read Japanese. I did make a mistake by forgetting these patterns don't have seam allowances, which was fine for around the body and the hem because Eva doesn't quite fit the sizes in the book, but it made the shoulders a little too narrow. But then you wouldn't have noticed if I didn't just point it out, right? Anyway, lovely lovely top, fits well, and of course beautiful fabric makes it nice and breezy.

Pattern: Sis Boom Sophie Tunic
Fabric: Heather Ross Mendocino for Eva
Sis Boom Flower Power for Bella's
I've made the adult version of this pattern a few times for myself (the Patricia Tunic), and Ive used this once to make a top for a friend's little one many moons ago, but finally I cut one out for each of the girls. Perfect for our trip away at the end of February for over swimsuits.
