My Shellabrate Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It's Laurie here! One final mermaid card for MerMay from me! I am sharing My Shellabrate Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Mermaid Ellie with Seahorse

The Details of My Shellabrate Card

Since it was perfect for my Mermaid theme, I decided to use the Mermaid Tales Collection Kit by Echo Park! The Kit came with paper and stickers. So, I used the “Sparkle & Shine” sticker as well as the paper on my card. The Shellabrate flag was from the Mermaid Dreams Frames & Tags also by Echo Park.

Once I picked my papers, I used the colours from it to colour Ellie with my Copic markers. I used Clear Wink of Stella on her tail and on the fins of the seahorse to add some sparkle just like the sticker said!

Next, I added an angel fish die cut to match the fish in the paper, as well as a shell and seaweed beside the sticker to help ground her.

Finally, for embellishments, I added three dew drops that look like air bubbles to mirror the air bubble paper. I also added a black rhinestone for the fish’s eye.

Amara with Donut by Noelene

Hello Crafty Friends, Noelene back today with some D.T. inspiration for the Paper Nest Dolls

I have made a birthday card using the super sweet image called "Amara with Donut".

I created my card on a 5"x7" base with some pretty sprinkled patterned paper in the background. After printing & colouring my image I created some donuts to embellish, using a die set & stuck them all over the paper. Now let me tell you, yes all of those sprinkles were individually glued on, one by one! Phew! You can say I bit off more than I could chew, "no pun intended", haha. Although I love how it turned out in the end and I think it was worth every sprinkle. What do you think?

Copics:
Donut: E31, E33, E35, RV09, Y08, G09, B04, R81, R83, R85

My MerMay Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It's Laurie here! I am sharing My MerMay Card using the Mermaid Set by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Card. This Set comes with 12 digital stamps, and I use 3 of them on my card.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create an underwater scene using the Under the Sea Slimline Designer Paper by Whimsy. Once I decided which sheet of paper to use, I coloured my mermaids with my Copic markers in different colours to match my paper,

I die cut the Whimsy Bubbles in a lighter blue designer paper to make them stand out from the background and highlight my mermaids. Then I placed my mermaids so that they each centered on the circles with the one sitting on the rock overlapping the sentiment. The sentiment was sitting on my desk leftover from another mermaid card. Crumb Cake ink was brushed over the sentiment to give it a sandy feel.

Next, I added real shells in the bottom corners on top of some pink and green vellum die cut seaweed. A silver seahorse charm was added to the sentiment using my Flush Wire Cutter to cut off the loops on the charm to make it lie flat. Tip: use Glossy Accents to create a strong adhesive hold for shells and charm.

I added a scattering of clear bubble embellishments to mimic air bubbles in the water and add dimension.

Clear Wink of Stella was added to the mermaids’ tails and starfish to give them a subtle shimmer and Glossy Accents to the pearl and braid tie for the Green Mermaid.

Bunches of Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It's Laurie here! I am sharing my Bunches of Wishes Card that was published in the March Issue (#242) of the Simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine. I was honoured when Christine Young, owner of Paper Nest Dolls, asked me to create a card to be published using Shovel Gnome from the Gnome Set. There are ten images in the set including:

The Details of My Card

For my card, the Magazine had specified pastel colours with a Spring theme. So, I used The Four Seasons Spring, P13 paper for my card. I coloured my images with my Copic markers to match my paper.

I love how the circles on the yellow paper match the circles in my design with the different flowers from the set and the sentiment! So many choices for him to think about planting! Lol!

Tip: Place all three circle dies on paper where you want them. Using a Post-it Note secure them to paper to keep position and run through die cutting machine all at the same time.

One thing that is so great about digital stamps is that I was able to add flowers to the wheelbarrow! Since I added tulips in it, I added a die cut tulip boarder behind him that I coloured to match my scene.

The sentiment was printed out on my computer and die cut out. It and the other circles were slid into place using liquid adhesive.

The birds and butterfly added interest to my scene.

Clear Wink of Stella was added to the wings of the butterfly to add some sparkle.

Blooming Wishes Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Blooming Wishes Birthday Card that was published in the March Issue (#242) of the Simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine. I was honoured when Christine Young, owner of Paper Nest Dolls, asked me to create a card to be published using Watering Can Gnome from the Gnome Set. There are ten images in the set including:
  • Shears Gnome
  • Tulip Gnome
  • Shovel Gnome
  • Watering Can Gnome
  • Bird Bath
  • Tulips
  • Daises
  • Mushroom with Butterfly
  • Wheelbarrow Gnome
  • Gnome Home

The Details of My Card

For my card, the Magazine had specified pastel colours with a Spring theme. So, I used The Four Seasons Spring, P13 paper for my card. I coloured my images with my Copic markers to match my paper.

To build my card, I used the largest mini slimline scallop die to create a banner behind my focal point. I trimmed it down to fit my card. Next, I added a banner along the top to finish off the top.

Tip: Use mini slimline dies for different sized cards by trimming down to fit project.

I thought that the watering can die would be fun way to anchor my watering can gnome. Accordingly, I die cut the watering can twice, once in pink and once in yellow. Then, I trimmed the top and bottom of the yellow watering can and adhered to the pink to give the watering can a two tone look.

Once that was done, I layered the watering can with a sun and cloud from my favourite die set. I added the tulips along the bottom of the watering can and added one of the birds from the Bird Bath Stamp.

Tip: Use parts of digital stamps, like the birds from the birdbath, instead of the whole stamp to create interest.

The sentiment was printed out on my computer and slid behind the watering can gnome’s head almost like she is wishing the recipient a blooming birthday!

The other bird and butterfly were added to the music paper on the card base.

Clear Wink of Stella was added to the wings of the butterflies and Glossy Accents to her watering can A scattering of rhinestones that were coloured with my Copic markers were added to give sparkle.

Like TOTALLY Awesome Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends! It's Laurie here! I am sharing my Like TOTALLY Awesome Birthday as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Decade Collection 80's Girl Ellie. There are ten dolls in the Decade Collection that come in both rubber and digital stamps. You can find all the digital versions here.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to go with the bright neon colours of the 80’s. I usually don’t use these colours, but it was fun to go outside my comfort zone! I even used Copic markers that I haven’t used before! This might be dating me, but do you remember leg warmers and “Gag me with a Spoon” (said with my best Valley Girl voice)? Lol!

Doodlebug paper is always so bright and colourful that I decided to go with the Hey Cupcake paper. Perfect for my birthday theme in these bright colours! I also wanted a bright neon green and went with a piece of Parakeet Party DSP.

The Framed Florets Dies gave me a perfect backdrop for Ellie and I couldn’t resist using the bright pink sprinkles paper behind her to make her pop.

The sentiment was printed out on my computer. I used a fun script called Mystical Woods Smooth Script at 12pt which I cut apart so that I could run it beside Ellie. I popped up “Like”, TOTALLY” and “birthday” to give visual interest and to highlight these words since they are what my card is all about!

To add to the birthday theme, I added a banner that was die cut from the Doodlebug paper.

I found some bright sequins in my stash that went beautifully with my bright neon colours. Star Dust Stickles was added to the heart on her top, her earrings and the accents on her bow.

Ice Princess by Noelene

Hello crafty friends, Noelene back today to share some D.T inspiration for the Paper Nest Dolls.

Today I am taking a break from Christmas cards as I had a special request from a little person who is turning 7 this month. She was having a Frozen theme birthday party so the image I have chosen to use is called Ice Princess.

If you have been following my work for a while you would know that I have used this adorable image in the past on a card with other Fairytale Princesses, (you will find the original post here), & on a Snowdome project, (for the original post here).

I started with a 6x6 base and put down some glitter cardstock. I then place an embossed sheet of white brushed cardstock. You would have seen this in my last post. I finished off my Winter theme with a shaker on my card. Lastly I glued some flowers to embellish & placed my image on top of some foam squares.

Copics:
Hair: T1, T3, T5
Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, E13, R20
Clothes:B0000, B000, B00, B01, B02, B04
Snowman: BG000, B60, C0, C5, C6, Y32, YR15

Although I have created a birthday card, this card could have easily been turned in a Christmas card with a few minor changes.

Ice Princess is available in rubber here & digital stamp here.

Roller Skating Ellie

Roller Skating Ellie

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Roller Skating Ellie as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Decade Collection Roller Skating Ellie. There are ten dolls in the Decade Collection that come in both rubber and digital stamps. You can find all the digital versions here.

The Details of My Card

When I was a teenager, roller skating was all the rage and you needed those multicoloured striped socks, Nike red shorts and tunes on your Walkman! So, when I saw this stamp, it bought back so many memories! Lol!

For my card, I coloured Ellie with my Copic markers to match my roller disco paper! I love this paper! I have used it for so many of the Decade Dolls whether it be 60’s, 70’s or 80’s! The skates and cassette tapes (do you remember cassette tapes? Lol) on the paper were perfect for my theme.

The sentiment was from a retired Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set, but you could easily type this out on your computer and printing it. It was die cut using the Stitched Rectangles.

To add some sparkle to the card, I used Stickles on a stitched Real Red heart and Ellie’s pompoms on her skates. I also added a few gold glimmer stars and red rhinestones.

Glossy Accents was added to her Walkman case.

Have a ROARING Good Time on Your Birthday!

Hello PND Fans! It's Betty here. I am so loving the Paper Nest Dolls release called the Decade Dolls Collection. Previously, I made projects with Hippie Ellie and Disco Amara. Today, I am sharing a card I made with Flapper Girl Emma. It's hard to chose a favorite, since I love them all, but I really had fun coloring and making this glitzy card. She just makes the perfect birthday card, but of course, you can change the sentiment for another occasion. These stamps come in digital and in red rubber. I used the digital version so that I can make the stamp the size I needed.

To make this A2 size card, I printed the stamp 3-3/4" tall, colored it with Copic markers, then fussy cut her out.

Copic markers used:
Skin: E04, E11, E00, E50
Hair: E59, E57, E55, E53
Cheeks: E93
Red: R39, R37, R35, R32

I used a white gel pen to create the sparkles and a silver gel pen to create the swirl on her headband.

The back panel is created using a stencil from a pack I got from Amazon and white pigment ink from Stampin' Up. I used a blending brush to ink this stencil onto black cardstock.

To create the silver stenciled background, I used a stencil from the pack I got from Amazon and Ranger Transparent Gloss Texture Paste with silver glitter mixed in. I cut the corners of this panel using a Corner Edger Die from Stamp Anniething then adhered it to the back panel.

I cut out three feathers from red glitter cardstock using Leaf Dies from Stamp Anniething. I created the sentiment on my computer, printed it, trimmed it to size, and added a black cardstock mat. I adhered the feathers under the sentiment. I adhered Flapper Girl Emma using double-sided adhesive foam tape.
I adhered this card front on a top folding A2 white card base. To finish the card, I added a few sparkly rhinestones I had in my stash.

Such a fun card to make! I hope you give this one a try!

Thank you for stopping by today. Have a creative day! ~Betty~

Decade Dolls: Have a GROOVY Birthday

Hello PND Fans! Betty here today. What is your favorite decade? My favorite is the 70's, because I love the bright color fashions, the music, the disco! Paper Nest Dolls came out with new stamps called Decade Dolls and the first one I had to color is Disco Amara. Of course, I had to make a disco scene for Amara! There are 10 Decade Dolls that you can find on the Paper Nest Dolls digital store. They are  available in red rubber stamps as well.

To make this A6 card, I printed the stamp, colored it with Copic markers, then fussy cut her out. I created the sentiment on my computer and printed it at the same time I printed the stamp.

Copic makers used:
Skin: E59, E57, E15, E33, E31
Cheeks: R32
Hair: 100, C9, C7, C5, C3
Dots on dress- Purple: V15, Green: YG07, Pink: RV17, Orange: YR16
Blue: BG04, BG02, BG01, BG000
Shoes: Pink: RV17, RV14, RV11; Orange: YR16, YR14, YR12

Supplies:
-Pink cardstock: Michaels Crafts
-Chevron Embossing folder: Darice
-Geometric Stencil: Amazon
-Distress Oxide: Mermaid Lagoon, Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn
-Patterned paper: Photoplay
-Scalloped Edge Dies: Scrappy Boy Stamps
-Disco Ball & Stars: Stamp Anniething
-Silver glitter cardstock: JoAnn's Crafts

I first created the pink mat layer by embossing it using the chevron embossing folder. Then I created stenciled background by using the Geometric Stencil and Distress Oxide inks. I used a ink blending brush and overlapped some of the colors. I adhered this onto the pink layer. I cut out the patterned papers using the scalloped edge dies and adhered them to the stenciled background.

To create the disco ball, I first inked white cardstock using the Distress Oxide inks, making sure to ink the different colors in different spots. Then I used the disco ball circle to cut it out. I cut out the front part of the disco ball using silver glitter cardstock and adhered it to the inked circle. At this time I cut out the stars and adhered them to the patterned papers along with the disco ball.

I adhered Amara onto the card front using double-sided adhesive foam squares. To finish the card, I matted the sentiment then adhered it using the double-sided adhesive foam squares.

Such a fun stamp to color and card to make! I'll for sure be coloring more Decade Dolls!

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful and creative day! ~Betty~

From the Herd Birthday Card

From the Herd Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It's Laurie here! I am sharing my From the Herd Birthday Card using Down on the Farm by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Card. This bundle comes with 15 digital stamps including 5 dolls, horse, cow, pig, ewe, chicken coop, tractor, hay, corn, sunflowers and so many more.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create a slimline card to fit my characters. So, I used my new Picket Fences Diecutting System with the circle dies since one was a fence and the other was grass. Perfect for my farm card! I die cut the fence out of some paper that looked like wood. I added sky paper behind the cow and horse but added a farmer’s field paper behind the girl and pig. To add to my farm theme, I use some wooden boards paper to create my vignettes of the scenes. I wanted the girl and pig to stand out. So, I placed them in front of everything on the die cut grass that has the stamped sentiment. Don’t you just love the sentiment, “Happy Birthday from the Herd. Lol!
