Starting From the Same Place: Artist Collaboration

I'm really honored to be a part of this Artist Collaboration: Starting From the Same Place organized by the uber talented Tina Walker. The premise was simple...everyone who agreed to this collaboration received all the same materials that had to be used in the projects, we could add to it but couldn't subtract! Sounds easier than it turned out be. You can see all the products and materials we received in the photo below.
FIRST a big huge shout-out to these sponsors who graciously
helped in this collaboration!

I added a few of my go-to products also:
Prima Art Stones Large & Mini
Seashells
Pearls
Driftwood
Vintage Glass Glitter
Lampwork Bead
Brass Mermaid
My starting point.

So with all of these wonderful products I created
A DAY AT THE BEACH

The background is a piece of handmade paper and I covered the wood frame with the fabric included.  It's hard to see but if you look close the 2nd piece of fabric was cut and applied at the bottom of the wood frame before I started to layer in all the pieces.

Can you find the butterfly in this corner?

Relics & Artifacts Clam Shell resin blanks

Seashells & Coral

The project doesn't stop there. I've created a pocket to keep some of my personal photos from different beaches I've visited on the back of the wood frame.

The Stencil Girl stencil pattern was created by applying Art_C Wax Paste in Metallic Gold. I love the way it came out!

Thank you for stopping by! I encourage you to visit the different artists either through their blogs or on FaceBook. To see the different projects using the same products will be an interesting trip through various styles & original creative ideas.

How to Use Sandra Everton's RELICS and ARTIFACTS in HOME DECOR

When I first discovered the Relics and Artifacts products created by Sandra Evertson I was just creating them as little jewels to be enjoyed. Some of my first ones were created with what I identify the most with...the ocean, sand, seashells, sea glass and broken coral. Many of these have been collected on my vacations to Dunedin, FL. and Sand Key Park. I also have a huge collection of broken and junk jewelry that I have rescued from my sisters antique store.

I've had requests to buy them but I can't part with them. I tell myself that these gems are prototypes but the reality is they represent me. Now the problem was how to display them in my home. I searched the internet for a storage case, a shadow box and I stumbled upon exactly what I had in mind {oh how I love when that happens}. I found these fabulous glass and mirrored display boxes on clearance at pottery barn.com.

Let me show you my little gems before when just completed and after in their permanent home.

Notice this one lonely Relics and Artifacts piece...it's waiting for the NEW releases of these incredible resin pieces created by Sandra Evertson. I can tell you that there are some SHELLS in that new release.

Not every piece is done with the ocean theme...in fact many aren't but again I want them to be displayed so others can view them. So this is where it started.

And this is how I transformed it into a piece of home decor. I used a piece of vintage wallpaper that I painted and applied to a 5x7" birch panel that also had been prepared with paint. The door plaque and key came from my home in Buffalo, NY and I left it just as is with it's original patina. A few embellishments completed this piece. It is now displayed on a cabinet in my living room.

I encourage you, if you haven't already, go to Sandra Evertson's website to read about the background story, check out the R&A Ambassadors and the various designs that you can purchase. There is a fabulous FaceBook group that you can join where you will just be surrounded with the most beautiful pieces of art. You can also follow on Instagram

Thanks again for joining me and looking at what I've created.

Relics and Artifacts with Sandra Evertson

What would it take to get me back to blogging? I tried in 2015...FAIL! Not that I wasn't creating art but just had too much on my plate. So here I am again...JANUARY  March 2016...going to try again!

I discovered back in November a new product to me. Being the information seeker I am I jumped right in and did my research. My research led me to the Sandra Evertson website and her Relics and Artifacts resin products. The irony was that was the day the Ambassadors were being announced. Lo & Behold one of my favorite artists, the uber talented Louise Nelson, was named as an ambassador. The last time I saw Louise was at the 2013 Winter CHA were we were celebrating the fact that we were Design Team members for the Original Tattered Angels under the auspices of Wendy Senger.

Needless to say I immediately ordered some of the fabulous resin pieces from Sandra's website. I highly recommend that you make a trip there and you will see all the glorious designs and products. My words can't possibly do this justice. You will see some fabulous projects created by the talented Ambassadors. Also check out the RELICS & ARTIFACTS® Tribe group on Facebook, relicsandartifacts on Instagram and on SnapGuide.

I want to share SOME of my first projects with you so you can see the versatility of these incredible resin pieces {photo heavy}:

So now that I've written this blogpost I am determined to contribute a couple times a month. Don't hold it against me if I don't. In my free time I really would rather be CREATING ART!
