Day 30 - A Rob day

When Rob is at home with the girls their day is completely different to the one we share when I'm at home alone with them.

They clean the house. Bottle beer. He lets them get wet in the dog water bucket.

They pick flowers for me.

They read different books.

They play in the garden and get dirty and have muddy faces and hands.

When I got out of the car, two little girls walked around the corner of the hut with big muddy grins and we had a big hug together. He told me Elisabeth said "Mama" all day long.
A cliche I know, but it is a wonderful thing to love and to be loved in return.

Snap it {breakfast}

Those of you who follow me via Instagram will know that Saturday and Sunday at the hut usually start with breakfast in bed for me.
I know I'm spoilt rotten. I do appreciate it. Rob will surprise me with a tray including orange juice or coffee, and depending on his mood/inclination:
  • thick pancakes with fruit and yoghurt or maple syrup
  • sourdough toast/home made bread/crumpets with honey or jam
  • muffins (he I have to say makes the BEST muffins, Baklava, raspberry, jam doughnut, orange, the list could go on)
  • home made granola with poached fruit and yoghurt
  • a full cooked breakfast.
Whilst I love pancakes and muffins, I have to say I think if I had to make a choice for my last breakfast ever, it would be something savoury. My all time favourite breakfast? Is left over spaghetti and meatballs on toast.

If anything this collage demonstrates just how much I love our red plates and red gingham doona cover (which is fading because we wash it so frequently!)

Psst there's a birthday at the hut

We like birthdays here at the hut. We celebrate the day, the week, the month.
Today is Rob's birthday. So far he's opened gifts and cards this morning, he walked the dogs around the block in the early morning, and for lunch we picked up some take-away sushi and headed to our favourite park in Battery Point to sit in the Autumn sunshine.
Rob's choice for dinner at home tonight and we've got a table booked for yum cha on Sunday.
April is a special month at the hut. More on that on Monday.

Cheers to being another year wiser.
Rob models a classic 1970's safari suit saved from the op shop pile after my father cleaned out his wardrobe. Only worn on very special occasions!

This week's topic is love.
I love this place, my home.
I love the photographer, my husband.
I love my two crazy dogs, Nigella and Claudia.
I love the sunshine and perfect blue sky, in this photo.
Love.

One of my favourite Rob photos.
Calverts Hill before a storm.
I could almost step out into the grass.
