Microsoft Office Starter coming to Netbooks but is limited

In the past Netbook manufacturers included Microsoft Office trial version. Well with new Office coming out expect to see Office Starter for Netbooks. The only problem is that the Starter version has limitations. Some of the limitations include lack of footnotes, endnotes, citations or bibliography, comments, track changes, Pivot Tables, or Pivot charts. In conclusion stick with Open Office instead.

Google Chrome OS

There was a lot of talk about a Google operating system. Well now there is one but it's only for netbooks.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

Multi-Touch to be featured in Windows 7

Video: Multi-Touch in Windows 7
Multi-Touch seems to be all the rage these days. And Microsoft has decided to include it in their next operating system Windows 7. This should allow us to do things we previous were not able to do on our laptops. Of course you would have to have a multi-touch laptop to use this feature. More incentive to upgrade when the OS drops. Nice idea MS.

When typing, a smart Typing Assistant prompt window opens to show you possible words you are typing. Then with one key stroke it completes the word for you. The program automatically learns the words you type, and automatically expands user-defined shorthand to full text, so that the more you use the program, the smarter it becomes and the more you find it useful.

RoboForm2Go USB key Review

Reviewed by KC Kim

$9.95

RoboForm is an award-winning automated password manager and web form filler with some serious Artificial Intelligence. This is what it does:
• AutoSave passwords in browser.
• AutoFill passwords to login form.
• Click Login button for you.
• Fill personal info into online forms.
• Save offline passwords & notes.
• Generate Secure Random Passwords.
• Encrypt passwords and personal data using AES, Blowfish, RC6, 3-DES or 1-DES algorithms.
• All personal info is stored on your computer only.
• Take RoboForm with you on USB disk for ultimate portability.
• Sync your passwords and notes to Palm or Pocket PC.
• Backup & Restore, Print your passwords.
• More features: drill down for more.
• It is well-behaved: NO ADWARE, NO SPYWARE.
• Works under Windows as an add-on to IE-based browsers.
• Works with Netscape, Mozilla, and Firefox under Windows.

If you are in a situation that I am where you have too many passwords to remember and write it down on a piece paper that you could lose at any moment then take a look at this review. Roboform is an all in one solution to my password woes.

Install: Simply plug in the 256mb usb drive and a program will show up on the screen. Install the program and your set to use this password manager.

Testing: I logged into my hotmail live using the Roboform2go. Roboform saved my password and then set a master password for it. Now all I have to click on the passcard I setup and the Roboform program fills in the password. Simple and very easy. No more typing out the password. I have tested this both on IE and Firefox and both work very well.

Compatible: What I like about this program is that you can use this with many popular browsers. I long ditched using Internet Explorer and now use Firefox. This works perfect with the IE alternative.

Protection: The main thing people would worry about with a setup like this is if it’s safe to store passwords on the Roboform2go usb drive. And it is using encrypted passwords and personal data using AES, Blowfish, RC6, 3-DES or 1-DES algorithms. This also defeats keyloggers which is becoming more and more of a problem by bypassing the typing of passwords.

No more entering passwords again and again. Roboform is the perfect solution for consumers who need to manage their dozens of passwords. This password manager just works and would make a lot of people lives better. No more writing passwords on a piece of a paper and worrying that it will get lost or worst get in the wrong hands.

Avant Browser - The IE and Firefox killer browser has arrived

About - The Avant Browser stands out from the rest because of its speed, performance, and rich features. The Avant Browser is a standalone application designed to improve internet browsing by expanding and customizing services provided by Internet Explorer. Avant uses fewer system resources to ensure faster web page loading. It also: blocks pop-ups, online profile storage account (saves user’s bookmarks/configuration and can be accessed from any PC); lets users perform frequently used browse operations with mouse movements, and more.

History - I have tried almost every browser out there. First with IE which most everyone knows about. But Internet Explorer had one major flaw. Too many hackers trying to exploits it's security holes which lead to more viruses, trojans, and popups. And this is the reason I went with the highly rated Firefox. Only the problem with Firefox is that it crashes constantly that at one point I switch to IE for a week which was a big mistake. I ended up with a trojan from a popup that IE didn't block. So that is the last time I used IE.

Something new - I wanted to try out a new browser. So I went through Opera, Safari for Windows, and several others. Then I was alerted about Avant Browser and there latest version which is completely free and adfree.

Features -
Online Profile Storage
Autofills
Flash Animation Filter
Built in Ad/Pop-Up Blocker
Built in RSS/Atom Reader
Additional Mouse Functions
Multi Window Browsing
Read Full Screen Mode
Built in Search Engine
Full IE Compatibility
Control your privacy
Safe Recovery
Customizable Skins

Real experience with browser - After tested the browser for a week I don't think I will go back to either IE or Firefox. In fact it's an actually balance of the two popular browsers. Pretty much all the features I want in a browser and fast too.

Conclusion: I was using Google before it was the #1 rated search engine. So I like to think I can see the next great thing. And I think the Avant Browser could be that for browsers. The Avant Browser has a ton of features and after use, it's my new favorite browser.
