Christmas Tags

Hello Festive Friends! I hope you're all enjoying the lead up to Christmas Day. I can't believe that theres only 2 more sleeps until the Jolly man arrives and leaves presents under the tree! Speaking of presents, are you all sorted? As I write this up I am not. However I do have plans to head out soon and finish the last of it so I can wrap them up all pretty using some simple brown paper and these fun and festive tags.

I've used a mix of Christmas designs from the store, along with an old Heidi Swapp Christmas collection I've been hoarding since its release. I love how they've turned out, and can't wait to gift them on to those we love this Festive Season.

Here's a look at the design sets I've used. The Magical Christmas set is one of our FREE designs this month. You can find it HERE

Tinsel Town                                        Tree Farm

Magical Christmas                             Out of Line Alpha

All these tags were super easy to create, and came together quite quickly.

I started with a plain tag for the base, then layered a few pieces together including a doily or ephemera piece and stapled or sewed into place

I used a mix of white cardstock, pattern paper and glitter papers to cut the designs out

This cut file design I kept almost complete by sewing the holly leaf to the base and folding it upwards for dimension

I also used a mix of different ribbons and threads for the tops of the tags, more for decoration than to hang off the present. I can always tuck the tag into a ribbon around the present if needed

I made sure to make the most of the pieces cut out, including the negative piece of the snowflake circle. All 4 of the circle designs from the Magical Christmas Set can be used either way

For the tags above I incorporated some twine and a bow with the gold reindeer silhouette piece, and the Letter F on the right has been used to identify that tag for a certain little person in our extended family.

Lastly these two I kept quite similar, using pattern paper under the cut file then sewing around the edge and hanging together with a tag.

And here's one last look at a few presents already under the tree. I really like the simple look brown paper gives a present, enabling the hand made tags to stand out for all to see.

Thats all from me today, I hope this has inspired you into making your own handmade tags this Christmas. Thanks so much for stopping by. See you in the new year!
Have a Safe and Merry Festive Season!

FREE CUT FILE | Holly Jolly Holiday

Merry Christmas Eve eve!  We have another FREE Cut File to share with you this week!  You can download the Holly Jolly Holiday cut file, by clicking on the image below.  This set is great for fun and festive titles on your layouts or projects!

https://app.box.com/s/l1bow0e8qoyidvydb4pt4459eyqfc7pl

I love to create large titles on my layouts, so I used Holly Jolly Holiday on the layout I'm sharing today.  I cut the title from White cardstock and layered strips of patterned paper from my Tinsel Town collection with Pretty Little Studio, behind the negative space.

I also used the off set function in Silhouette Studio to create an outline of the title.  Then I used the Silhouette Sketch Pens to draw around the die cut words.  I used a mix of Embroidery Floss colors that coordinated with the Tinsel Town collection to stitch around the words.

I thought the title of this layout paired well, with the funny photo of our daughter.  This pose was her idea, and I love the surprised look on her face at the elf that has fallen over in the "snow".  I added a few of the Tinsel Town embellishments on each side of the photo to balance out the large title at the top of the layout.

I finished with a bit more embellishing layered over the title, just to add some extra texture to the layout.

New Cut Files | Very Shiny Nose

Merry 3 more days before Christmas!!  We've got several new Cut Files for you this week, that can be used for Christmas, New Year's, Winter and everyday layouts.  I used one of the non-Christmas-y cut files this week, to create a Christmas themed layout.  The Geo Globe cut file is really versatile and can be used in a variety of ways and with a variety of layout themes.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/500569259/the-geo-globe-cut-file-is-a-large-circle?ref=shop_home_active_13

I used the Geo Globe cut file as a stencil on my layout.  I cut the design from a sheet of cardstock.  Then I placed it on my background paper, and traced around the outer edge of the circle.  I used the triangle shaped pieces that were left on my Silhouette mat, as stencils for cutting from the patterned papers I used on the layout.  Once I had each shape traced, I trimmed it with scissors and then placed it in the coordinating space of the cardstock stencil while it was placed on the background paper.

Once all of the patterned paper pieces were in place, I machine stitched around each one.  Then I hand-stitched around the outer edge of the circle and in between the spaces of each of the patterned paper triangles.  I really love to add hand-stitching to my layouts, and I love the mix of the hand-stitching and machine stitching on this page.

I finished with a few embellishments, keeping everything inside the main circle.  This type of layout, using a lot of different patterned papers doesn't always need to be loaded with embellishments, because of the color and patterns from the papers.  And I had to add the cute reindeer wood veneer from my Tinsel Town collection from Pretty Little Studio, to go with the theme of the layout!

Here's a look at all of the new cut file sets that are available in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store today!

Dream

Hello there, friends! Enza here with you today to share a Christmas layout created with the Totally Triangles and Very Merry cut files.

I had been thinking about using the Totally Triangles cut file for a while. As I thought it would be perfect for a masculine layout, I was just waiting to create a page about my son with it. After cutting it out though, I realized I could make those triangles look like little Christmas trees by just backing them with some patterned paper and gluing a star on top. I liked the colors in the Pink Paislee Moonstruck collection and decided to go for it. Although the pink and blue hues are a little unusual for the theme of the layout, I really liked the final result and the magical feel of it.

To keep the page light and soft, I decided to back only some of the triangles with different patterned papers. The idea was to create an horizontal design. I also added some stitching, alternating gold and white embroidery floss for extra texture. The acrylic stars are part of Ashley's Tinsel Town collection.

I wanted to create more separation between the picture and the background, so I printed a copy of the same photo in black and white and placed it behind the one in color.

Next, the little presents. I cut them out of white cardstock and backed them with more papers from the collection. As I thought they were blending too much with the background, I outlined the image to create a little border. Some sequins and a few rub-ons from the collection completed the layout.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my process. Visit The Cut Shoppe Etsy store for these and many more inspiring cut files.

December Magic

.

Hello everyone!,

Nathalie here with you today.   I love Christmas;  it is my favorite time of the year as we get together to celebrate family.   I especially like capturing and documenting those small moments when all you can see is love, I call them "December Magic".

I  wanted to capture the Christmas feeling of the memory, so I played around with the newly released Stained Glass cut file to create the background for this piece.  I just highlighted one of the circles on the cut file.  After tracing it I released the path, and deleted the outer circle (as it had small lines from the other circles to which it was attached).  I created a new circle around the image using the Circle Drawing tool on the Silhouette software.  The new figure was copy and resized until I was satisfied with the background created.

I simply used a combination of vellum, and papers from Pretty Little Studio's Holly Jolly collection to  back the cut-out.     All the embelishments around the picture of my kids (a few years back) comes from the same collection.  Here are a few close ups of the  project:

I used an exacto  knife to cut the little stars inide each of the figures.

I used foam adhesive to attach the papers to the cut our.  This adds a lot of  dimension to the background

The picture is framed with pieces from the Holy Jolly collection

I hope this inspires you to visit the Cut Shoppe, to pick this and the many beautiful cut files available,  Don't forget that there is still a few days left to use the code MERRY31 to obtain 31% of your purchase.

What Matters Most

Hello Cut Shoppe friends! Today I am sharing a layout about true friendship - something I believe all of us need.

To create this layout, I used the Bountiful Blessings cut file along with Fancy Pants Designs' Golden Days Collection. Both work perfectly with this photo of my daughter and her best friends.

I began this layout using a basic grid design - I loved the papers in the collection and wanted to use a bit of everything. Also, a grid is a great place to start if you are stuck in terms of design. For this, I cut nine 3x3 squares and then cut slightly smaller coordinating squares to place on top of each.

With the grid in place, I used the feathers from Bountiful Blessings to create "leaves" for my cluster of floral embellishments, which I placed on the left side of the photo.

Next, I stapled the "My tribe" clear overlay to the bottom-right side of the photo with my Tiny Attacher. I followed this with a bottom border sticker.

My final step was to embellish the remaining squares, which I tried to keep simple. The photo speaks so much to me that I wanted to keep the embellishments somewhat simple. I also chose not to journal because I love the photo, and again it speaks volumes about these girls' friendship without needing explanation.

Remember! There is still time to take advantage of the The Cut Shoppe's December discount. Shop the Shoppe during the month of December, use code MERRY31 at checkout, and receive a 31% discount on your entire order!
