    Ortiz on Manny

This news has shocked me, because I remember when Manny was here, the trainer would give him Tylenol because he was sore or something and he would throw it in the garbage. He wouldn't take it. This news here, he needs to speak out and let people know what's up, so people understand. It's hard, man. You can't even reach out to Manny when Manny was here. You think I'm kidding, but I'm serious. Who knows? Manny's on his own always. There have been times when we were here playing together. I've been like, OK, let's meet at the lobby by noon so we can go and have lunch and go to the field. OK. Next thing you know you would be calling to his phone and calling to his room and you wouldn't reach him. And you just talked to him like an hour ago. That was him." --David Ortiz 5/12/09

    Papelbon Versus Ramirez

    PAPELBON KEEPS RIDING MANNY
MANNY RIDES A TRIKE AS HE KEEPS UP THE HAMMY ACT

It doesn't matter who you are -- you could be Babe Ruth -- if you're not in that same cubbyhole with the rest of the guys going to war with you, you're all going to die. That almost happened."--Jonathan Papelbon

Pappelbon didn't back away from his comments of calling Manny Ramirez a cancer in an Esquire article. He went on to say that Manny's replacement Jason Bay was like a chemo treatment. Meanwhile in Arizona Ramirez did not play in a spring training game on Thursday because of a bad hamstring. That bad hamstring did not keep Ramirez from riding a tricycle and taking batting practice at Dodgers camp.

    Papi Non Factor

Ortiz went 8 for 43 in October and short of 1 homer was a non-factor in the playoffs. In the last game of the season Papi was surrounded in the line up by Pedoria and Youkilis. Manny could have sat out for the August and September but once the playoffs started the Sox would have benefited from his bat in the line up even if he left it on his shoulder.

    Ramirez: Book Report

Manny Describes "The Secret" in Forty Words or Less
I don't need to read a whole book to know what it's about.... If I come to you and tell you I want to take you to my house and cook you a steak, then you'll know. Because what it is is if you think positive stuff, all the positive stuff is going to come to you. Making things happen for yourself. Hey, that's what it's all about."--Manny Ramirez on "The Secret"

    Cheers to the Owner

    FLYING IN STYLE

With 6 Red Sox selected to the All Star game, owner John Henry let them use his private jet to fly to the game in San Francisco. It was a apparently a fun one way ticket as the players did not fly home on Henry's jet.

    AL EAST LEAD: 6
