How exciting!!!

I am having another great day of crafting and am also looking forward to a week of fun.   Tuesday is Card Club and that's a wonderful monthly card-making class that I have been taking at my LSS.   It's a jam-packed class and well worth the time and money.  We start with a huge packet of new goodies, which vary by theme and season and then we have three hours to spend in the classroom using any and all of the store supplies, along with our new stash.  On top of that we'll have a print out that has several card sketches and inspiration and all the stamps and such to make each card will be available that day.

And on top of that fun class, I'm also thirlled to have have enrolled in the next class being offered over the the Online Card Classroom (Jennifer McGuire & Kristina Werner's fabulous classroom).

The next workshop and starts next month and I think it's one that will be very popular.  For those of you who have not heard, it's going to be an awesome technique class taught by Tim Holtz!!!   The class starts on March 19th and runs until April 2nd and it's called - Tim Holtz - Creative Chemistry 101.  You can find all the details HERE and also sign up now if you want to get in on the early enrollment price of $33.00!

I am one of the very lucky crafters who has had the opportunity to take a live class and actually meet Tim in person.  That was in October of 2010, when he taught a weekend of classes as my LSS.  Ironically, he's coming back in May to teach for another weekend, but I will miss those classes, as it's the same weekend I'm off to Baltimore for The Outlawz Getaway.   But, since I'll be taking classes that weekend with Marti Wills and Suzanne Dean, I'll be quite happy, not to mention that fact that I'll finally be meeting some of my best online craft friends.    WOOHOO!!

And speaking of The Outlawz, my first card today was inspired by their new CAS Challenge.   The theme for this week is "Animals".  You have the option of using animal prints on your project or an actual animal.  I decided to color up a cute little giraffe and this is digi I had in my stash from Bugaboo Stamps

I think it's came out to be a cute little card and I could have also changed the sentiment and made it a new baby girl card or even a child's birthday card.    I really had fun making something totally different.

My next two cards were both inspired and created for Operation Write Home and were based on today's Sunday Sketch Challenge.   Even though both cards are much different, each one was based on this week's new sketch, which I have copied over to share below.

Sketch # 109

My Card

My last card today is my dud card of the day and the one that made me decide to stop and take a little break.   I worked on this probably longer than both of the other two cards and in the end, despite a few changes, I just don't really like it.   As Sandy from OWH would say - it's a Sneeze card, which means it's not that great and needs help!!

I do like this fun color combo, but I just feel like something is not quite right.  I actually also love this sweet new Fuchsia Sprig die (Memory Box), but still feel like the card is too plain?   HUM?  I'll be curious as to what you think?  I know something the cards I LOVE most and are always what you love and we ALL have different tastes!   I even read a post yesterday from a girl who hated the color PURPLE.....can you imagine such a thing...???  I was shocked!

Lisa, your first card is just so darn cute. A pink giraffe does make me giggle. Your second card is just beautiful. With my missing MoJo I don't think I would have thought to put the die on top of the flower. Just fabulous. I LOVE it. I don't see a thing wrong with your third card. I think it is beautiful and I love the colors but I know what you mean. Even though others love some of our creations, we just can't put our finger on it, but to ourselves, it seems to be missing something. That happens to me often. Maybe you would like your card better if you had embossed the card base???? I, personally, don't think it needs it, but maybe that would make you feel better about it. I'll email you soon. Enjoy your evening.

Great job, Lisa! Take a break and look at your card in a couple of days.... Fresh eyes always help!

I love all the cards. If you think the third one is too plain or has an empty feeling, maybe a small bug or butterfly at the flower like it is getting nectar?

All of your cards are great, and I absolutely LOVE your version of the sketch card! WOW! That die on top of the flower has such a dramatic look to it! Gorgeous! I like the simplicity of the last card, especially the colors and I don't think I'd change a thing! Nice job on them all!

Hi Lisa! It's so fun to come to your site and see what you have been up to! I love all of your cards; your whimsical touch inspires me. I was just looking at all of my craft flowers and thinking how I never use them. Then I come here and saw your second card. Your use of that die cut over the top of a flower is truly inspired. It just looks fabulous! Also, your last card looks great just as it is. Hope you continue to have a great week and having a lot of fun crafting.

I would call this a triple play. I like them all. I agree about the die on top of the flower.

The HUGS card is my favorite. I like the colors used and the awesome tiered flower. WOW! Purple is a beautiful color, too. My friend likes purple so much she always wears purple and has highlighted her hair purple! It really looks good on her :)

Where is the sentiment from on the 1st card...Sweet card! On the third, I would move thesentiment up so it is close to the diecut and is on the print and the green. You could also mat the plain green with the blue and I think it would pop! Great color combo! Of course I love your sketch card. TFS!!!

Lisa, very clever how you put the die cut on top of the flower. Excellent idea. The little giraffe card is cute as can be. The simplicity of your third card is nice. As others suggested come back to it in a couple of days -- I know I have had to do that too -- sounds like you going to be having some fun with you upcoming classes. Enjoy!

A Little About Me

My photo

Purple is my favorite color and ironically - Purple is the Awareness Ribbon color for Fibromyalgia, a chronic illness I lived with for over 18 years. In, March of 2015, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer which had spread to my brain. I am fighting hard to win this battle and determined to beat it. I have a amazing Oncology Team, along with the LOVE and SUPPORT of all my family and friends! I am a Mom to two grown sons, Alex is now 25 and married to Acacia, my wonderful new "Daughter" and the parents to my precious Grand-Daughter Harper, and Brian amazingly is 30 and now lives in San Diego. My boys are the greatest loves of my life. Hubby, me and our two "Pups", Skye and Zeva, two adorable Chiweenies we rescued in 2012, all live very happily in a tiny coastal town in Massachusetts. We lost our dear "Scoutie", a Purebred Dachshund, in April of 2015. I still miss him and will forever cherish his memory. I am an avid card-maker and totally love every minute I can spend in my craft room. It's become my passion, a wonderful way to relax and is my form or "therapy".
