"A Night of Neglect"

After their month long hiatus that felt like eternity Glee is back on air and what better way to open up than with focusing the screen time on the neglected characters of the musical comedy.

But don't forget the guest stars  Gwyneth Paltrow, Charice, and Cheyenne Jackson. I can’t blame you if you had completely forgotten about those last two – after Sunshine Corazon and Vocal Adrenalin coach Dustin were introduced in the season premier, they pretty much disappeared. So I guess it’s appropriate that they returned in “A Night of Neglect.”

Here we were introduced to the Brainiacs and their clever ode to Nerdom handshake. With the cost of their trip to Detroit added to the Glee Club's fundraising goal, Will postured like the Nino Brown of salt water taffy. Not since Nipsey Russell tried to sell the last of the peanut brittle to buy new uniforms for the Central High Wildcats had I seen a more pathetic idea. Luckily the notion of a benefit concert was born and with it an amazing display of the many talented members of New Directions.

Gwyneth’s guest stint as substitute teacher Holly Holiday had to come to an end eventually, but I’m still sad to see her go. She brought a fun energy to the show and I liked how Holly helped Will get his groove back after his relationship with Terri. With Holly leaving for Cleveland and Dr. Carl getting an annulment, it looks like everything is in place for Will and Emma to finally get together (yay!). But before I get ahead of myself, Sue did tell Terri that, “your time has come.” Uh oh, I think that could mean more trouble for Will.

Before the singing started though, we learned Brittany had a quirky knack for obscure trivia. She ripped through those Cat Diseases like Rosie Perez named foods that start with the letter "Q" in White Men Can't Jump. The League of Doom was a failure, but Sandy got my spirit award for his colorful costume complete with a custom made, Pink Dagger hat. Holly finished a close second for her portrayal of Madam Man Hands, Wallace Simpson. Almost had to declare her the winner after she referenced the scandalous death of Catherine the Great.

Sergeant Handsome deserved a bump in rank after his bevy of amazing one liners. While Dustin failed to woo Holly, Will's chances with Emma got a little brighter as he learned she no longer had a full house after Carl (John Stamos) cried uncle and had their marriage annulled.
Sunshine returned and despite showing off her freakishly amazing voice yet again, I sort of wished she had waited until she was actually, all by herself, to sing that song. Mad respect for Shawty though, for having over 600 twitter followers. Preach! Last time I checked, I had 43....which is a pretty good one for me.

Sunshine's eventual no show did nothing but leave more stage time for the host of amazing performances by the regular cast. Tina absolutely killed it as she performed Lykke Li's, "I Follow Rivers." Despite getting cut short by the Heckling Club, I think she delivered my favorite performance of the night. Mike Chang was sexy plexi as he danced to Jack Johnson and executed a routine that would have landed him right on Mary Murphy's, Hot Tamale Train. I didn't much care for Mercedes' diva antics, but I did appreciate Lauren's suggestion to ask for a bucket full of green M&M's. It was a nice nod to one of the most classic and notorious musician rider requests which has been chronicled back to Aerosmith's earliest days. Mercedes more than made up for her behavior with her performance of Aretha's "Ain't No Way." Rachel although doesn't feature singing this episode which I might add doesn't go well in my books but it showed us a mature side of the diva and i definitely like it,.....maybe Rachel will finally get over Finn(come on he's just pathetic).

Although the scene with her(Mercedes) and Rachel in the car was one of the more poignant ones of the season as she expressed her frustrations over her club mate's stardom. Santana's claws were never sharper than they were tonight as she threatened Karofsky. He'll probably now join the masses of other cowards who hide behind screen names and Internet handles while spewing their hate filled slander.

Glee has always done an amazing job of addressing their critics while tackling relevant issues at the same time. Tonight's episode did well to address the continued problem of bullying while also shining the spot light on some characters who have not gotten their fair share of the fame.  I applauded the writers for not neglecting some of the more supportive roles and allowing them to have a moment to shine on their own.

While I enjoyed the performances, I don’t think the episode was perfect. Mercedes’ diva act was just silly (though she had a good point about Rachel always getting the solos). Sue’s League of Doom—including Pink Dagger, the Honey Badger, and Sergeant Handsome—started out pretty funny and then fizzled. On the plus side, Brittany and Artie on the “Brainiacs” Academic Decathlon team was brilliant (they were all over “Cat Diseases,” “White Rappers,” and “Hermaphrodite Nazi Sympathizers”). And the preview for next week’s 90-minute “Born This Way” episode looked fantastic!

Original Song: New Directions goes in a New Direction!

Phew! finally Glee is back from Holiday. Yup folks that week's episode typically and rightfully named 'Original Song' was definitely a lot more cohesive that the preprocessor that was 'Sexy' and is definitely one of the best episodes of Glee this season.

So gleeks regionals are here once again! This year New Directions went in a new direction by performing completely original songs. With “World War Sue” coaching Aural Intensity and Blaine and Kurt leading the Warblers, New Directions was up against some stiff competition and needed a competitive edge. Though their initial attempts at song writing were hilariously bad (“Trouty Mouth”, “Big Ass…Heart”), New Directions ended up with three terrific songs.

Let’s first summarize this entire episode in a nutshell, shall we? Due to more ill direction under Schue, the club found out that My Chemical Romance refused to grant them the rights to anthem out to SING at the competition. Sue, of course, is behind all this. Apparently her affair with the drummer led to the cease and desist order (we find out later that this is entirely fictitious) and is her opening salvo in World War Sue. New Directions won Regionals (I know right?) because they somehow managed to compose two original songs before the weekend. Amazing use of those rhyming dictionaries kids. The ironic/stereotypical judges (Kathy Griffin as a Sarah Palin/Christine O’Donnell lovechild, Loretta Devine as a caricature of my beloved Sister Mary Clarence and Rod the Anchorman) all thought that was enough to send the club predictably towards New York and Nationals.

That said and done, let's now break down the catalogue one-by-one shall we?

Starting the episode with Maroon5's MISERY by the warblers gave every sign of a powerful and riveting Glee episode and then finally addressed a long-running query of a lot of fans(me included) - Why the heck does Blaine get every single Warblers solo?

From there the episode delivered one winning performance after another, focused on actual relationship and character developments and proved one indisputable fact: Lea Michele, the power house of the show. Rachel's "Get It Right" was the highlight of the hour, as it did a lot more than merely showcase Michele's pipes. It spoke to the evolution and struggle of this girl, someone who has gone from cute to irritating to the most obvious MVP candidate.

Blaine and Kurt didn't preach to the audience in any way. They simply acted like two students falling for each other, as writers resisted the effort to just throw these two into a relationship from the outset. After Kurt’s touching rendition of “Blackbird,” Blaine seemed to see Kurt in a whole new light. And judging from the reaction on Twitter (“THEY KISSED” was a trending topic tonight), fans are ecstatic. Blaine even shared the spotlight with Kurt during “Candles.” It must be loveAnd then a second kiss because, come on, it's Darren Criss!

On to the 'World War Sue' front or the 'Not so stupidly named' Aural intensity front. Sue did her homework on the judges and decided to go with Sonseed’s “Jesus is My Friend” in order to impress tea partier Tammy Jean Albertson (guest star Kathy Griffin) and Sister Mary Constance (guest star Loretta Devine). I think the nun summed it up nicely: “I didn’t even like to be pandered to when I was a stripper!” Sue’s pandering ultimately backfired, and she took her anger out on the poor, drunk Lieutenant Governor’s wife.

The Quinn-Finn-Rachel love triangle took an interesting turn tonight with the revelation that Quinn thinks she and Finn have a future together in Ohio, while Rachel’s talent will take her on to bigger and better things. That explains why Quinn is obsessed with becoming Prom Queen—she thinks she’ll peak in high school and also shows us the fact that without her cheerleading outfit and the prom crown she's unsure of who she actually is. But with plenty of meaningful looks between Finn and Rachel, I think Quinn might be losing him but that better not happen cause well i'm sick and tired of Finchel, they totally suck(sorry to all the finchel shipper i'm just stating a point). Rachel needs a new boy-toy or somebody old....well it has been rumoured that Jonathan Groff returns for the final four episodes of this season...hope that happens.....GO ST.BERRY.

And...how 'LOSER LIKE ME' we so good wasn't it?? Yes, context can really change things! I honestly didn’t care for this original song in isolation, but watching it all come together in this episode, this kind of grown on me a bit. It still sounded too High School Musical for my taste, but the visual and the Sue-esque undertones really had me enjoying the whole performance. This song made more sense now.

Lastly i'd like to take up the point of MVP - First New Directions don’t like her. Then they do. The hot and cold treatment the glee club gives Rachel confuses and disgusts me. Awarding her the MVP was simply another way of saying “We only like you when you’re useful.”

And i'm not wrong with a much more screen time for the Warblers this episode marks their end on the show, something about the end of the contract for using that school's premises. This also means that Kurt would also soon be returning to home-ground with Blaine in tow(rumored). Cue in for a 4 weeks skip(i know FOUR WEEK.....they r trying to kill us!!!) Glee returns on April 12th for the next episode of the season 'A night of neglect'.

"The Rachel Berry House Party Train Wreak Extravaganza" is officially underaway!!

Again i'm sorry for a late review. Saw the episode long time back but important tests were coming up so I couldn't write it. So, here it goes

Did you know what over 400 people die per year from alcohol poisoning? And drunk driving is really bad? If you weren't aware of these facts, Glee made it a mission to drive the points home on "Blame It on the Alcohol." Fortunately, there were enough fun songs and scenes thrown in so that the episode didn't feel too preachy. Finally an episode that was fun and huge definition of racy and also made a good point of warning against alcohol.

There's no way for a series to not come across like a Public Service Announcement when the topic is alcohol. This can be especially grating because alcoholism is a serious disease. It's silly, and almost insulting, to suddenly pretend like Will has such a severe problem that he has to actually give up imbibing simply because he left one drunken message. Moreover, high school students will party and drink and vomit and repeat the process for as long as there is liquor and empty basements. They shouldn't get behind the wheel after doing so and they should be careful sexually and etc etc etc........

Good thing they did not preach it and actually made it like kinda funny and enjoyable outfits (what were Kurt and Rachel wearing to the party?!?) and catchy performances (so nice to see the show go western for a change!). It's hard to take too much of an exception to an episode that gives us Beiste in a cowboy hat.

One complaint though: their is  no way Finn knows the word "archetypes." The "The Weepy Hysterical Drunk, The Angry Drunk, The Stripper Drunk, The Happy Drunk, and The Needy Girl Drunk" part was just extreme since Finn is shown as a stupid boy with very low intellect.

Speaking of train wrecks, the “Rachel Berry Train Wreck House Party Extravaganza” got off to a slow start, but things quickly got crazy after the kids decided to bust into Rachel’s dads’ liquor cabinet. The spin the bottle kiss between Rachel and Blaine was surprisingly intense and led to an awesome duet of “Don’t You Want Me.” It reminded me a little bit of the days of Rachel and Jesse St. James (when the hell is Jesse coming back on Glee????), and hopefully Glee will find a way for Rachel and Blaine to sing together again. The unexpected kiss also led to Blaine briefly questioning his sexuality. I was sure Rachel the drama queen would freak out on Blaine after he declared “Yep, I’m gay. One hundred percent gay” but she was excited to channel the experience into her songwriting. Good for her!

I was on Kurt's side in his initial argument with Blaine during the argument later. Yes, a friend should be understanding, but Blaine absolutely billed himself as a confident, out, proud, sure homosexual. Of course it was jarring for Kurt to learn that his role model in this area doubted his sexuality. But then Kurt got on my nerves when arguing with his father. Didn't Burt say he'd also object to Finn having a girl sleep in his bed? Wasn't he instituting the same rules for both gay and straight? Kurt left the conversation by telling his dad to "educate" himself so Kurt could go to him with problems, just like a straight person would.

While the kids were partying, Will and Coach Beiste did some partying of their own at Rosalita’s Roadhouse honky tonk bar. Coach Beiste made her singing debut on “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” with Will, and she was totally in her element. Unfortunately, Will ended the night by drunk dialing Sue instead of Emma. That proved highly disastrous for the poor guy.

With their performance of “Tik and also Tok” by “Ke-dollar-sign-ha” (Iqbal Theba sure has some funny one liners) cut short by purple projectile vomiting, I think their record of train wreck school assemblies is intact, although apparently it was enough to scare the kids of McKinley High straight.

Now, before you rise up in arms, this is an anti-drinking episode, with a moderation or abstinence message. As mentioned before, a couple of singers end up vomiting during a song after doing shots before the performance. Lucky for them, Principal Figgins assumes they are merely acting a role to discredit the practice. But there aren't actually any serious consequences for the drinking, and it feels a little odd that everyone, including Will, who we'll get to in a minute, agrees to sign a sobriety pledge that will last until after Nationals.

And at least Gwyneth Paltrow is returning on the next episode on 8th March! Hooray! Overall, this was a strange episode of Glee, one that clearly tried to send along a pair of messages. Below is a promo for both "Sexy" and "Original Song".

"Silly Love Songs" - Good to see the old Rachel back

After waiting so long for Glee to return from its winter break, us Gleeks are being rewarded for our patience with TWO brand new episodes this week. Which in this case is the 12th episode of the season. The football season ended in Sunday’s post Super Bowl episode, and now McKinley High students are looking for love in tonight’s all-new Valentine’s Day themed episode, “Silly Love Songs.”

A funny, touching, entertaining Glee episode that didn't feature a single line from Sue Sylvester?!? What has the world come to????!!!!???? But that's exactly what transpired on "Silly Love Songs," as the show stopped feeling like a Public Service Announcement for a week and actually focused on well-paced, well-written relationship developments among its core characters.

Mr. Schuester’s assignment for the week is for each member of New Directions to pick a partner and serenade him/her with a great love song. An unexpected pairing causes some major drama considering what transpired towards the end of last episode. Mr. Schue’s assignment also allows supercute couples like Tina and Mike and Artie and Brittany to shine

Meanwhile Finn, fresh off his football victory, is back to being top dog at McKinley, and all the attention from the ladies is going to his head (Can you guess which smitten girl nicknames him Finnybear?). He decides to set up a kissing booth so he can kiss every girl in school (well, actually, there might be some ulterior motives at play here). He and Quinn also talk about the kiss they shared at the end of Sunday’s episode…was it just a one time mistake? And where do Rachel and Sam fit into things?

Kurt and Blaine over at Dalton Academy are also on in the spotlight in “Silly Love Songs.” It turns out that Valentine’s Day is Blaine’s favorite holiday and he needs a favor from The Warblers in order to celebrate. Kurt supports Blaine when he goes to The Warbler’s council, and the result is not one, but two performances from our favorite all male glee club. How great is that!!!!!!!

It was refreshing to get to know Blaine a lot better, especially considering Glee addressed how he's seemed a bit too perfect this whole time. Turns out, he's as confused as most high school students. He just hides it behind his confident singing ability.

It's all about the characters coming first. Every performance this week tied perfectly into relationship drama that has been playing out all season (Rachel pining/getting over Finn on "Firework," Kurt standing strong in the face of loneliness on "Silly Love Songs," Puck making it clear how much he likes "Fat Bottomed Girls." Okay, almost every performance.)

I never felt preached to at any point, despite the fact that Kurt and Rachel both passed along an important message about not relying on someone else for your self-worth. But the message was organic, it flowed from their recent experiences, not from a contrived musical number or sudden development.

An overall great episode teamed with some reflective music of various individuals' struggles and triumphs, which ought to be the goal every week. I'll say it again: characters need to come first.

Viola!!!!that's it for now, we have the next episode ironically titled "Comeback" for 15th February which is the next day after valentine's day.

A "Special Education"

GLEE Episode 9 “Special Education” – New Directions grabbed their magic combs and Cadbury eggs and headed to Sectionals on tonight’s episode of Glee. They faced off against The Warblers and The Hipsters and came out on top—well, sort of. But I liked last night’s episode of Glee, a lot actually, and yet somehow I expected more.  I think perhaps it’s because I was expecting New Directions to perform “Dog Days Are Over” at Sectionals, and I really wish they’d had. It’s an awesome song, and I’ve Had the Time of My Life/Valerie just didn’t dazzle me the way the previous Sectionals and Regionals performances have.

I’ll tell you what I did really love about the episode, though – the emphasis on celebrating talent in New Directions other than Rachel and Finn’s. I don’t usually like shows that are too self-aware, but the theme felt like it had just the right amount of poignancy when it came to the storyline and real life criticisms of the show. There is a lot of talent on Glee, and it is fun to hear everyone sing – not just a Rachel ballad and then a classic rock song that ends with Mercedes belting out a big note. Emma knew that formula was tired and so did the audience, and the way the incorporated the change in song structure into the script was artfully done. (Had Mr. Schu just randomly given Sam, Quinn and Santana solos for Sectionals, it would have seemed pretty odd.)

Not only was Mr. Schu battling the fact that his underdog team had become stale frontrunners, he was also battling the fact that everyone in New Directions was, well, battling. Before we even got to the first commercial break, Santana dropped the bomb that she’d slept with Finn and demolished his relationship with Rachel. Plus everyone had a serious case of me-itis, and only cared about what they would do at Sectionals and what solo they would get.

This episode was really effective in making Rachel likable again. I know after the first season everyone had kind of had enough of her, and even early in this season I was getting bored with the fact that every single episode seemed to include a Rachel solo ballad. She did “What I Did For Love” in the first episode. Then she did “Baby One More Time” – not a ballad, but another solo. Then she did “Papa Can You hear Me?”, which was excellent but another solo ballad. Then in the fourth episode, “Duets”, things seemed to take a turn. Rachel and Finn  threw the competition, and she later performed a killer duet with Kurt. I love hearing those two sing together. After that she seemed to really take a backseat in the show, and it’s been a nice break.

This week she shone singing “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” with Kurt (a song she plans to have at her funeral to illustrate how everyone realized how great she was just a little too late), but we also got to see the often hidden likable side to her personality. She had some really adorable moments with Kurt, especially when she told him to smile from the audience during his Sectionals performance and initiated a standing ovation.

I have to give props to Lea Michele this week, because I think her acting was some of the best we’ve seen. She looked truly crushed when she found out about Finn and Santana, and even more crushed when she told Finn about her brief encounter with Puck. (Which, incidentally, I thought Finn overreacted to a little. It did kind of even them up.)

Onto the Warblers’ arena - When I watched the video of the Warbler’s performance of “Hey Soul Sister” last week (OK, I watched it twice) I wondered why Blaine was doing all the singing, and also assumed that Kurt looked rather glum considering he’s now attending his dream school. (I’d also wondered this with Vocal Adrenaline, who relied entirely on Jesse St. James in their performances.) It turns out that Dalton Academy is rather rigid, likeUtopia. Sure, Kurt is accepted. But he isn’t celebrated. The words “fitting in” are thrown around, but anyone who knows Kurt’s character knows he’s not the kind of kid who wants to fit in. I loved that he had Rachel help him with his audition song (you have to audition for solos there, in front of a panel) and then he was told he’d tried too hard. Perhaps if he’d known they didn’t like that style he wouldn’t have gone to the girl who bursts into tears during every performance for coaching.

The fact that Kurt probably isn’t going to get a solo or select a song anytime soon suggests that his time with the Warblers will be rather short. But how will he get back to McKinley? What will become of Karofsky? That’s probably a question for the second half of the season, but I’d be shocked if Kurt wasn’t back with New Directions in time for Regionals. How can they go to Nationals in NYC without him?

Here’s a question about Blaine, though – how good are his intentions with Kurt? He told Kurt he needed to be more of a team player, but he’s the only guy in the Warblers that we’ve heard so far. Does he really buy into all this teamwork crap, or is he just trying to keep his own position as apparently the only soloist safe?

Now for one of the bombshells of the episode – Emma and Carl went to Vegas and got hitched. Gah! What the hell? Not only do they have trouble getting together, they keep going and marrying other people! Wrong, wrong, wrong!

How do you guys feel about Emma’s news? Is it just another twist in the series, or are you sick of seeing Will tortured so? Should he continue to pine for her or move on to someone else? (Hello, Idina Menzel and Gwyneth Paltrow.)

To the Sectionals - It was pretty funny to see Puck on the wrong side of a port-a-potty when he tried to recruit a new member for New Directions. He ended up getting Laura, on the condition that he’d give her some out-of-season Cadbury eggs and seven minutes in heaven that allegedly rocked his world. Personally, I’m not a fan of Laura. I find her hostile, and not in a funny way like Santana.
I was happy to see Mr. Schu yell at the glee kids for a change, since they were all acting like selfish brats. Like I said, though, the Sectionals performances fell a little flat for me. (The two songs not performed for the competition were my favorites from the episode.)

“The Living Years” by The Hipsters was great just because everyone had a walker or cane and the name “The Hipsters” cracks me up. I’d already seen “Hey Soul Sister”, and the song is a little overexposed, but it was a decent performance.

I didn’t like how Quinn and Sam entered to do “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” the same way Rachel and Finn did for “Faithfully”. They have different voices than Rachel and Finn and I think a different vibe (either more intimate or more fun) would have suited them better. Naya rocked an awesome hat during “Valerie”, but it wasn’t the bombastic closing performance I had expected. I loved the dancing, though.

“The Dog Days” was by far my favorite performance from my night, and possibly one of my favorite Glee covers from this year. It was great to see Tina sing something that didn’t bore me to tears as well, though I might have liked it better if everyone had gotten a line to sing or something. It was nice to see all the kids let loose and have fun.

Thus, on the whole this episode didn’t just focus on one character, so it felt nicely balanced. I still don’t think it quite lived up to last year’s Sectionals episode, though. With Rachel and Finn apart and Will heartbroken, it lacked the joy of last year’s episode.

Onto next week the last episode of the year "A Very Glee Christmas".

"The" sexy "Substitute"!!!!

Glee Season 2 Episode 7 “The Substitute” Gwyneth Paltrow made her much hyped guest appearance as substitute teacher Holly Holiday. Holly replaced Will as both Spanish teacher and glee club director, Sue became principal, and Terri returned, speaking in a baby voice that’s going to give me nightmares. It may sound like a recipe for disaster, but for the most part it all worked out.

After Will catches a virulent strain of the monkey flu and hallucinates a choir room full of mini-Gleeks (who all by the way looked totally cute!), Holly arrives as his substitute. She seemed pretty darn perfect at first—she spoke Spanish with a flawless accent, she did an impressive version of Cee-Lo Green’s “Forget You,” bonded with the kids over Taco Bell and with Sue over Animal Hoarders and red wine, and she even cart-wheeled while performing “Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag” from Chicago with Rachel. She seemed like the coolest teacher ever… until she revealed she can’t commit to staying at one school for more than a month.

Let’s Talk about the Good and Bad seen shall we?

As the ultimate substitute, Paltrow’s casual sexy and fresh Holly Holliday brings a fresh perspective to glee club and a new dimension to the show. Holly describes herself as the “cure for the common class.” She is like a super permissive parent; she presents Lindsay Lohan as a topic for class discussion, suggests a trip to Taco Bell and nonchalantly drops a medical marijuana reference.

Glee functions as an excellent arbitor of pop culture and social commentary, and this episode provided a platform to discuss a multitude of relevant issues. When Schue confronts Holly about her laissez-faire teaching style, she makes a few excellent points about how education needs to adapt to the 21st century in order to reach students. Last week’s commentary on bullying continued this week, as the confrontation between Kurt and his tormentor escalated, resulting in a death threat that will likely be a major issue in coming episodes.”The Substitute” also weighed in the debate about nutrition in schools, via Principal Sue’s ‘war on junk food.’

Kurt embracing his more flamboyant side via his blossoming relationship with Blaine makes Mercedes feel left out. Kurt is not just her best friend; he also he fills the male presence void typically assigned to boyfriends, just with a little more flair. For Mercedes, being unable to connect with Kurt about a new dimension to his life is frustrating and saddening. This is a tale as old as time- straight girls with best gay friends the world over have felt this rejection when, suddenly, their BGF has someone else, who is theoretically better suited as a confidant. Exploring this dynamic will make for excellent conflict in future episodes.

On another note, Mr. Schue was a major presence this week, and mostly redeemed himself for the jealous weirdness and questionable decisions of episodes past. He really does care about his students; it is clear that losing leadership of glee club is more about losing this beautiful relationship with the students and not about a selfish need for control, like Sue. Terri returns, crazy eyes, baby voice and all, to bring out the worst in her ex-husband. She takes advantage of Will while he is sick, though he does bear some responsibility for sleeping with a woman who is clearly unstable; when she comes flying into his apartment in a jealous rage, it is hard to feel sorry for him.

So what did you think of Gwyneth on Glee? I thought she fit in well with the rest of the cast and held her own during the performances, which seemed rather elaborate in this episode. From Holly and Rachel’s Chicago number to Mike Chang and Mr. Schue’s version of “Make ‘Em Laugh” to the Umbrella/Singin’ in the Rain finale with everyone splashing around—I think they upped their budget for this episode. Gwyneth and the rest of the Gleeks seemed to be having a blast, so that made this a fun episode for me.

Now next Tuesday November 23 airs episode 8 of this season titled Furt, as glee club co-captains Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) move forward in their relationship, club member Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) faces a key decision in his life and commences preparations for his father Burt's (Mike O'Malley) impending marriage to Finn's mother Carole (Romy Rosemont). Wanting to compete, Sue also decides to be wed, which brings her Nazi hunter mother Doris (Carol Burnett) to Lima, Ohio for a surprise visit.

GLEE : Darren Criss is "Teenage Dream"

It’s that time of the week when we hear snippets of the songs from the next episode of Glee and pretend we can tell which one will be the best. Listen below to the tracks from the “Never Been Kissed” episode. Per Fox, “After Finn and Sam find an unconventional way of controlling their urges, a few glee club members pick up on the strategy and start using it too. But when Coach Beiste gets wind of what they are up to, the glee club has some explaining to do.” This involves two mashups: The boys (pictured, looking Motown-ready) do the Supremes’ “Stop! In the Name of the Love” with En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind,” while the girls get Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” and the Rolling Stones’ “Start Me Up.” My thoughts: “Free Your Mind” will always be a ringer, and even though I love Bon Jovi, I’m now more excited to hear Mercedes take the lead on the Stones. New cast member Darren Criss(as Blaine, a gay student on the rival Dalton Academy Warblers) makes his first appearance to sing lead on a catchy rendition of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” while Puck and Artie’s “friendship” results in a duet of Bob Marley’s “One Love (People Get Ready).”

GLEE : Kurt's boyfriend is revealed

"Glee" skips this week from airing a new episode but FOX offers a new sneak peek of the next one. Titled "Never Been Kissed", it looks like the episode is going to focus largely on Kurt's new finding which comes in the form of Darren Criss.

Kurt is considering a transfer to another school, words are it has something to do with him getting a love interest. At the end of the preview, Mr. Schue informed his students that they have a new competition calling themselves Dalton Academy Warblers. It is an all-boys boarding school where Criss' Blaine is schooled. According to some reports, Blaine and Kurt would perform "Teenage Dream" together.

Despite the episode's title, EW said in its corrected news that the ones smooching are not Kurt and Blaine. However, Chris Colfer said fans should expect something big happening to Kurt. "It's so big that we had a full meeting about it that we can't say anything. That's never happened before. I will say it's about Kurt," Colfer teased.

Talking further to TV Guide, Colfer admitted he was surprised when reading the script. "And then I thought, 'This is so terrific.' It's going to send a whole other message to the world," he gushed.

"Never Been Kissed" airs November 9 on FOX.

SCORE!!!! From Gwyneth Paltrow to Susan Boyle

"Glee" has been able to score some pretty huge stars for season two. In addition to Charice, Darren Criss and Gwyneth Paltrow, singer Susan Boyle will be joining the cast in just over two months.
"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy discussed the possibility of Boyle's appearance last spring. Boyle will play a high school lunch lady in a Christmas themed show. Murphy said, "I think Kurt would just die to give her a Christmas makeover. I don’t even know if she’s interested but it’s been pitched.”
It looks like the hopes of many Susan Boyle fans have been fulfilled. According to a new report by Showbizspy.com, the former "Britain's Got Talent" star will definitely be making an appearance on the "Glee" Christmas special.
Scheduled to air on December 7, the show will feature a number of song performances. Unfortunately, Boyle's voice will not be a part of the Christmas CD.
“Susan’s appearance will be great fun for all fans of the series,” a source said.
Boyle’s second album, "The Gift," will be released on November 8.
Gwyneth Paltrow will appear on episode seven, "The Substitute." The show is scheduled for November 16.
